Watercolor Hearts ... 2 Cards

I have two cards for you today, featuring two beautiful hearts created using my own special technique.
The hearts (and little flowers) are cut from watercolor paper, sponged, and then spritzed to activate the colors.

The second card features a different color story, using the same design and technique.

I sponged ink onto the stamp, huffed (to keep the ink moist) and then stamped the envelope.

Which color story do you like the best?

Copper Tree Fall Card And A Few Good Tips

I have a card for you today that is full of sparkle and shimmer.  The tree is cut from our Copper Foil Sheets and the background is endless shimmer ... because I really spritzed it ... a LOT.
More about the background:
- Cut an oval from watercolor paper.
- Add a couple of colors quickly, using an Aqua Painter.
- After the background dries, spritz it (A LOT) with a shimmer mist.
Tips for attaching a 'sprig' of ribbon:
- Add Liquid Tombow to the flatter side of the knot.
- Take a large punch (leaving it closed) and set it over the knot.
- Leave the punch weighting down the knot until the adhesive dries.
In the photo below, you can see all the shimmer I added to the background.
We made this card at one of my previous Saturday Stampers classes.  It was a big hit.

Make Someone's Day

October 1 is World Card Making Day.  Check out this message from Stampin' Up!
A message from Stampin' Up!  Make Someone's Day
It’s often the little things in life that can make a big difference in someone’s day. A handmade card is one of those simple things that can mean the world to the person who receives it.
With World Card Making Day coming up on October 1, plan to celebrate by making and sending a handmade card to someone in your life who you know could use the boost (which is anyone, really!). You’ll feel just as good sending it as your friend will feel when they find it in their mailbox. Share your plan with your customers and inspire them to send cards on October 1 too—we could change lives everywhere!

Birch and Copper Fall Card

I have a Fall card for you today that has lots of rich texture and color.  Enjoy!
The 'birch' leaf is cut from a left-over piece from an old kit.  I added a copper leaf, a Soft Suede embossed leaf, a sponged panel of Fall colors and a strip of copper along the edge of the sponged panel.  The top layer over the card base is embossed, as well.
The leaves are attached with dimensionals and then a double sprig of linen thread is tied around their stems.  The sponged panel was spritzed with shimmer mist before attaching it to the card, so it has a bit of beautiful sparkle, in addition to all the rich texture.  I love how it all came together.

4-Leaf Fall Card

I am loving making my Fall cards this year (and every year) as I love, love, love working with the beautiful and warm colors of Fall.  Today's card is what I call a 4-leaf card.  I think you'll see why I named it so.
Each leaf has a special, unique treatment and yet they all work together to create a beautiful and yet easy to make Fall card.  I love it!
I sponged and then added shimmer mist to the strip across the card.
I tied linen thread around the stem of the larger copper leaf.  I used a double strand, to give it even more texture.

It's a Butterfly Kind of Day

I have more butterflies for you today.  I love this card.  It is even prettier in real life.
I played around with several ways to add color to the butterflies and ended up liking the one best where I sponged the color onto the embossed piece of CS and then spritzed it with my shimmer mist.
The card is coordinated inside and out, including a matching envelope.
The color story is Island Indigo, a tiny touch of Old Olive, and Crushed Curry, even though I used a Mint Macaron ribbon.  Be sure to check all the possibilities for using your ribbons.  They can match more colors than you realize.  The tiny. layered butterflies add the perfect finishing touch.
