The Joys of Olive Jane and Another Layout

Today's post is a reminder of the simple joys in life --- my son and my sweet Olive Jane --- and another layout from our Scraps and Prayers group.  If you ever need some cheering up some day, just look at this sweet face.  I am totally over the moon about this sweet little girl!

... and in continuing on with our album for the year, here's our layout for our November pages for my Scraps and Prayers group.  Our color story is Old Olive, So Saffron and Whisper White.  We stamped on all the layers of the paper daisies and used sprigs of ribbon for a leaf effect.  Old Olive buttons are used for the centers of the flowers.  Again, I tried to make the layout as simple as possible - to make it versatile for everyone.

Another Layout with Ribbons

Here's the layout we made at our Scraps and Prayers class for the October pages in our album.  I kept it simple, leaving room for the photos to be the star of the page.  When you have a large mat in the center, like in this layout, you have the option of using a very large photo or overlapping several smaller photos.

Once again, coordinating ribbons make it easy to complete your color story.  The images are from a recently retired Hostess stamp set.

A Blue and Purple Layout

This was our layout for our September pages for my Scraps and Prayers class.  I decided to use a non-traditional layout rather than the usual back to school type themes, to be more versatile for everyone.  We needed a lot of flowers, so I chose a stamp set that has a coordinating punch.

It's so easy to plan a project when you have ribbons that coordinate with your color story.  These are now retired, but you can check the Clearance Rack for a lot of new items and great bargains.

Guessing Games and my Chalkboard Technique Layout

Have you put in your guesses yet?  So far, no one has guessed my favorite new stamp set but two people have guessed my favorite new color.  That's all I'm saying about that right now:)

Crushed Baroque

Here's another card I made using Crushed Curry and Beautifully Baroque.  I love this combination!  I actually sewed on the button to the beautiful chevron ribbon.
My color story:
I've used Basic Gray and Smoky Slate with the Crushed Curry.

Tip:
To layer the Basic Gray behind the 'Happy Birthday' label, punch it twice, trim to fit and attach it all with dimensionals.

Smoky Slate and Crushed Curry Card

I am loving this combination of gray and yellow --- Basic Gray and Crushed Curry.  They go together so nicely!  This is one of the cards we made at my Open House / New Catalog Party last Sunday.

I thought this was a good card to make at the party because, besides being beautifully elegant, it features a lot of new products:

• new Smoky Slate ink
• new Chalk Talk stamp set
• new coordinating Chalk Talk framelits
• circle punch (not new, but coordinates with the new framelits)
• new Crushed Curry chevron ribbon
• new Beautifully Baroque embossing folder

Back to Smoky Slate... A Color Story in 2 Versions... and the End of our New Colors Series

Today, we will wrap up our series on our new colors by going back to Smoky Slate.  When I made my first cards with this new color, I did not yet have my new Color Coach.  I decided, once I got it, that I'd make cards using the suggested color stories from the Color Coach.

In my previous post, I showed you 1 color story on a card with Washi Tape.

Party Day!

I am so excited that I get to stamp with my friends today at my Open House/New Catalog Party.  Here is one of the cards we'll be making.  This is just a quick and cute little note card that is still quite elegant due to the stamp and the Crushed Curry, which looks super against the crisp, white background.

Sometimes, you just need a card in a hurry.  Of course, you still want it to be really nice.  At my Open House, I needed projects that wouldn't take too long because I'd planned several projects for people to make.  I chose to make a card that was an example of how to make an elegant card --- in just a few minutes.  I can't take credit for the 'wow' factor though.  I owe it all to the Beautifully Baroque stamp.  Love it!

Notice that I stamped the front and the back of the envelope.  That bumps up the 'wow' factor, too.  I love this new stamp!  I used Basic Gray for the 'hello' stamped greeting.

Fun on A Roll ... Washi Tape, Part 2

Today, I have more ideas for you to use in working with your Washi Tape.  I also have info on Product Bundles.  Who doesn't like a bargain?

Here's a fun little 3-D project you can make and decorate with Washi Tape.  I've used Washi Tape to decorate around the outside edges of empty button containers.  These would make cute little gift containers for a little surprise for someone special.

Here's another card using a couple of strips of Washi Tape.  I love my Smoky Slate.

Fun on A Roll ... Washi Tape, Part 1

Our new Washi Tape is just plain fun.  I decided that I needed to make a 'holder' for mine.  Here's what I designed.

I took an old wooden spool I had in my 'stash' of vintage goodies, added a decorative base (2 pieces, stained and glued together) and attached it all together.  Now, my Washi Tape is always on hand and ready to go for the next project inspiration.

So, what are some things you can do with Washi Tape?  
You can use it on a card!
This is one of the Make and Take projects we'll be doing at my Open House / New Catalog Party.

What else?  You can stack them up and collect a stash of pretty tapes.  Here, I have Gingham Garden and This and That (Epic Day) Washi Tapes.

What else?  You can use Washi Tape to decorate clothespins!  You could even put a magnet on the back and use them on your fridge.

I use these clothespins as paper clips.  Fridge magnets would be great, too, though.

The Last New In Color (in our series): Strawberry Slush

Today, we meet the last new In Color in our series on our new colors --- Strawberry Slush.  This is a yummy color and makes me want a strawberry snow cone.

Here are the cards based on the Color Coach suggestions:

I must say, the one one the right got lots more shots, but I do like them both.  Changing the color story really made a difference in these 2 cards.  Which color combo do you like the best?

On both embossed images, I've used the back (debossed) side of the image for a little bit different look.  It gives a nice, but subtle, texture to the background.
