Meet Flirty Flamingo

In my 'Meet the New In Colors' post, I shared a card with you that had a peek at all 5 of our newest In Colors.  I'd like continue introducing all the colors and helping you get to know each of them a little better.  First of all, here are all 5 of the new colors using the same basic card design for each.
I've changed the embossed backgrounds and the colors, but kept the same design.  The stamping is all done with VersaMark and then heat embossed with Gold EP.  I then colored in each flower (including leaves and stem) with Gold Wink of Stella.  I've mostly shown you the Wink of Stella in Clear, so here's a new version.
You will love Flirty Flamingo.  This is an absolutely gorgeous color.  It seems so fresh and vibrant.
I added a 'sprig' of ribbon to each of my cards to show off our new Ruched Ribbon that comes in each of the new In Colors.  It is a joy to work with this ribbon and it is just plain gorgeous!
Come on back to get better acquainted with our next new In Color.

Meet the New In Colors!

Are you ready to meet this year's gorgeous new In Colors?  I've been so excited to show you!  I still am not sure which one is my favorite.  Maybe you can help me decide.  I'll start out by sharing a card with you that features all 5 of the new In Colors.  Then, in my next posts, we'll spend more time getting to know each one of the new colors.
From top to bottom, the new In Colors are:
Peekaboo Peach
Dapper Denim
Flirty Flamingo
Emerald Envy
Sweet Sugarplum
I cut my strips of each of the colors and attached them to a CS base and then embossed that entire piece.  It is then attached to the other layers of the card using dimensionals.  I sponged the punched piece with the sentiment, added a 'sprig' of our new ribbon and then finished my card with a sprinkling of rhinestones.  I'm still not sure which one will be my top favorite, but I love how they all work together.

Playing With Watercolors, Part 2

I have a really bright and cheerful card for you today... three, actually.  I love these colors together and can't begin to tell you how much fun it is to play with them on watercolor paper.
Aren't these colors pretty together?  I've used Crushed Curry, Watermelon Wonder and Tangerine Tango.
I stamped and sponged the inside of the card and the corner of the envelope.
This card has the same colors, only I've applied them to be much lighter and then did a lot of blotting to lighten them even more.
To get the water spots... it's just that... water spots:)  I spritzed some water into the palm of my hand and then flicked it onto the paper.  As it dries, it removes more of the color.  The joy of creating cards with these techniques is that you get a different result each and every time.  It's always a surprise and always fun!
Well... my next post will be starting a little series to introduce you to the new In Colors and show you my take on playing with these colors.  I'm still trying to choose a favorite.  I have lots of fun in store for your stamping inspiration, so be sure to come on back and check it out.

Playing With Watercolors, Part 1

A while back I had some time and was playing around with watercolors.  Then, when I got sick, I couldn't finish them for a long time.  When I needed to catch up on birthday cards for our church to send out, I grabbed these backgrounds and went to town creating several designs of completed cards.
Adding a few black speckles and then a mat of black behind the top layer really pulled the card together.  I love how it turned out.
I made quite a few of these cards, so I was so glad that I had made a bunch of backgrounds on the day that the playing all started.
I made some of the cards with blue or green card bases and others with white (thick CS) bases.  Which one do you like the best?  I have one more post coming up for you (a totally different color story with watercoloring) and then I'll start sharing some of my cards with our upcoming new In Colors.  Yay!  I can't wait.  Be sure to come back to see them!

What's Up For June?

Greetings on this fine day.  It's the last day of school for my 2 oldest grandsons, so life will soon be a bit different around the Horton household.  I took care of Joey yesterday and had him all to myself.  Even the puppies were gone (to the groomers).  We went to the mall for a couple of errands.  He was good as gold.  He can sit up by himself and play on the floor for an amazingly long time.  We'll be getting out the Pack-N-Play any day now, so the puppies keep away from his toys.  I will admit that, after my busy day - the busiest I've had after being so sick - that I took a 2-hour nap.  Geez!

So... what else have I been doing?  I've been making cards using the new In Colors!!!  Every year at my Catalog Party/Open House, I have my guests play a game of guessing which is my favorite new stamp set ( I may have this one figured out. ) and guessing which is my favorite new In Color.  Holy moly, I've been struggling with this!  Right away I chose the one I thought would be my favorite, hands down.  As soon as I started playing with the colors, I decided that my favorite would be one of three... but then, as I played with the last 2, I realized how gorgeous they were, too.  Well, I have until June 26 to make up my mind.  It just might take that long.

So... what do I have to share with you?   Today, I thought I'd let you take a look at what's coming up in my studio for June.  A lot is going on and it's all good.

Super Exciting News:
Our new catalog goes live on June 1.  You're going to love it.  What am I looking forward to ordering first?  Well... all the Big Shot new products... all the new punches... all the new ribbons... and then, a few more stamps.  It's just like Christmas... except you have to buy your own gifts.  Tee, hee, hee.
Next up:
I'm having a Stampin' Garage Sale ---
Pre-sale for my customers on June 9, 6:00-7:00
Open to the public on June 10 and June 11, 8:00-5:00
I'll have lots of fun stampin' goodies... bargains... and a few other odds and ends, as well.
I also have 2 classes scheduled:
Monday, June 13 --- Scraps and Prayers / 5:30-7:30 / $18.00
Saturday, June 18 -- Saturday Stampers / 1:00-4:00 / $18.00
... and wait ... There's more!
Sunday, June 26 / Catalog Party/Open House / 2:00-5:00
Wow!  I guess I'd better rest up for all this.  June is going to be a great month!

Botanicals Neutral Card

I love the vintage look of a fancy, neutral card.  I have one for you today.
Notice how I used linen thread with the wide ribbon.  This is one of my favorite looks for ribbons on cards.
... and there you have it ... quick and easy and very pretty.

A Couple of 4" Cards to Share

I've finished sharing all of my 3" cuties, so today, I have a couple of 4" cards.  Then, it's on to full-size cards again.
I used Baker's Twine to make some fringe hanging down from the heart.  Of course, I had to add a tiny piece of bling.
I stamped a compass on each of the envelopes.  I used a full-sized envelope, so you can actually mail these little cards or you could use them on their own as gift enclosures.
I love the compass.  I decided to place a large pearl in the center of it.
In my next post, I'll share a card that's what I call a Botanicals neutrals card.  Be sure to check it out.

3" Cuties, Cards 6 and 7

I have two more 3" cuties to share with you today.  These are the last of the bunch.
This one is done with a Sahara Sand card base.  I sponged a few highlights onto the 'brick wall' background, along with a stamped off image at the bottom corner.  It adds a lot of texture to it.
Sadly, this dotted embossing folder is retiring, but I hang onto most of my embossing folders.  When a new catalog comes out, I try my best to purge my stamps, but I have trouble letting go of any of my Big Shot items.  Anyway, most people who are not demonstrators hang onto their products, so I like to show them ways they can still use them and combine them with some of our new products.
I did a major purge of my punches this last week, which is a big deal for me.  I will be having a nice big sale as a part of my Open House/New Catalog Party on June 26.  If you live in the area, you'll want to drop over for the party and enjoy some great deals, some new Make and Take projects, and a ton of fun.

3" Cuties, Cards 4 and 5

Let's double the fun again today and look at two more of my 3" cuties.
I've used lots of layers, dry embossing and die cuts to add tons of texture to these cards.  Even a tiny card can have all these elements.
The little ties on the bow clip are Baker's Twine.
I love the soft blues, greens and neutrals.
Be sure to come back to see my last two 3" cuties in my next post.

3" Cuties, Cards 2 and 3

I decided to double up on the fun and share 2 cards today.
I've used dry embossing and stamped, cut pieces to add lots of texture.
I love the soft colors.
I also added a bit more texture with some light and delicate sponging.
