Five Days of Emerald Envy, Day Two

Here's a favorite card of mine I made recently, as we continue our green theme.  This one actually had 3 shades of green.  I have a favorite song on my mind right now, too.  Green green.  It's green they say; on the far side of the hill.  Green green.  I'm goin' away to where the grass is greener still.
I stamped the tree, sponged over the top of it, and then carefully stamped it again.
This looks like a good tree to sit under and enjoy some cool shade.  I'll be in my lawn chair though and not on the ground:)  I'd better take a good book to read.
Never mind.  I think I'll add a swing and enjoy pushing one of my grandchildren.

5 Days of Emerald Envy, Day One ... and the Cutest Little Frog Ever

I think this is the cutest little frog I've seen for a while.  I just love his little smiley face.  I chose him to kick off 5 days that may leave you green with envy... or at least enjoying our new shade of green Emerald Envy.
Somehow, I think the polka dots just work perfectly with this card.
I had a little 'frog fun' playing around with the envelope.
I added more hearts to the inside of the card.  The simple strip of CS with the hearts on it really makes the inside of the card special.  There's still room for a nice little message.
I just love my little frog.  I have 4 more green days, so be sure to come back and see what's next.

Five Days of Dapper Denim, Day Five

Are you ready to wrap up our Dapper Denim days?  I've saved one of my super favorites for the last day.
I watercolored the background on the circle piece, using Shimmery White CS.   The text is embossed with black EP.  By embossing the top layer of the card, it just bumps up the WOW factor ... a lot!
I've stamped the inside of the card as well as the coordinating envelope.
Yes, I had to fussy cut the flower and leaves, but I think it was well worth the effort.  Like I said, this is one of my favorites!

Five Days of Dapper Denim, Day Four

I hope you didn't think I'd been kidnapped by some form of Dapper Denim.  Actually, I got a nasty stomach bug that put me out of commission for a week.  I'm back and ready to go on with more luscious Dapper Denim.
I used the Acrylic Block Technique for the background behind my tree.  You can search my blog for other examples of this technique.
I used Marina Mist and Always Artichoke for my colors on the background.  Once it was dry, I stamped the tree and the text.  I love the touch of the rhinestones on this card.  I used the embossed design to guide the placement.
I have one more day of Dapper Denim, so come on back and see what I'll be sharing with you.

Five Days of Dapper Denim, Day Three

Here's a favorite of mine, using Dapper Denim and a simple embossing technique.  I've sponged over the embossing --- gently --- with White Craft Ink, to make the beautiful design really stand out.
Adding some of our gorgeous ribbon always gives a nice touch.  I've chosen to treat the dimensions of the top layers a little differently for this card.  I really like the look.
The greeting nestles perfectly between the two sections of the embossing.  Add a little rhinestone bling and call it finished.  I really like how this one turned out.

Five Days of Dapper Denim, Day Two

Are you ready for more Dapper Denim fun?  Let's jump right in with another Dapper Denim card.
I added an extra layer of Dapper Denim, embossed with stars.  I then attached the white layer to another piece of Dapper Denim and offset their placement on the card base ... just for added interest.
Can you just barely make out a few speckles on the white layer?  I added these by gently tapping on my Wink of Stella pen, using my (closed) scissors.  This is fun to do and adds a nice bit of sparkle.
I would normally have closed my registration for my Saturday class, but I had a cancellation and have 1 set of materials all ready to go.  Contact me today if you'd like to join us for this fun artist canvas mixed media project.

I still have one opening for Saturday's class:

Five Days of Dapper Denim, Day One

Let's take a few days to enjoy some delightful Dapper Denim.  This is truly a gorgeous shade of blue.  Today's card demonstrates the elegance of simple white flowers against the blue background.
I've used dry embossing on the inside and heat embossing on the front of the card.  The envelope shows off some emboss resist, with sponging over white (heat embossed) flowers.
This is a favorite, for sure.

Crazy Fun Flirty Flamingo Work of Art Card

I used some odds and ends of old products from my 'stash' to add to all my SU goodies and created this super fun card.  This card features all the new In Colors --- on my artist palette.  I added Crystal Effects over each of the paint palette colors to give them dimension and some shiny goodness.
The text and the background speckles are embossed with gold EP.
I offset the top layer, just to give it some added interest and added a ribbon between the card layers.  In the close-up, you can see that I added ink and Crystal Effects to the tip of the brush to make it look liked it had been dipped into some of the paints.  I colored in the part of the brush between the handle and the bristles with a silver metallic marker.
This was super fun!

What A Fun Class We Had!

We had a wonderful class last night and had so much fun.  We did a really fun layout design where I combined Traditional Scrapbooking with Project Life Scrapbooking.  They blended together beautifully.  I feel so blessed to be able to lead a group such as this one.
I just love how these turned out.  I need to get out some photos and get busy finishing up this layout.
The large black photo mat is an 8 1/2" square.  I thought you could add one larger photo on it or stagger several smaller ones.  You could even do a 4-photo layout on this page inside the black square.
The plain Crushed Curry and Black CS sections are for photos.

Mixed Media Artist Canvas

I have found a new love ... mixed media art.  I've shared several of my projects recently and today I have another one.  I love working with mixed media.  We are making this one at my Saturday Stampers class this Saturday.  (July 16)  I still have openings if you'd like to join us.
I love my little bird!
This mixed media project involves a layer of Tim Holtz tissue wrap paper over an artist canvas.  I painted it with Gesso before adding the paper.  Once it dries, it's a matter of adding layers and layers of inks, then adding stamped or die cut 3-D items, as well as random stamping over the canvas.
There is no right or wrong to this kind of project.  Each one will have a completely different look to it.  That's part of the fun.
To me, working with mixed media is fun, an opportunity to relax and let your creativity take off on its own and, if you don't like the results, you can keep going until you do.
I still have several spots available and I really hope you'll join us.  Come have some creative fun with friends!!!
