Let's Count Our Blessings

For our next Scraps and Prayers project, I decided to design a cover for a special journal.  This is a journal to use to write down reminders of blessings for which we are thankful.  When you hit a day when too many things seem stacked against you, you can take out this journal and focus on the good things going in your life.
I have a stack of journals waiting (more than you see in the photo:) and I hope one will be for you.
I've used heat embossing, basic stamping and a die cut title.
I added a ribbon to use for a bookmark in the journal.

Christmas Decor ... in 'Reel' Time

For today's post, how about a unique idea for some Christmas decor?  This one is sure to be fun in 'reel' time... a movie reel, that is...
I've had these old movie reels sitting around for quite some time now.  They are each a separate color.  I saw a similar idea on Pinterest, done with a wheel cog and my brain immediately shouted:  'Use your movie reels!'  I love how they turned out.  I already had the decorative 'sprigs' to use, so I didn't have to buy anything to create this project.
I tied the 'sprigs' on with jute cording, so I can take them off and try changing it out to a Spring decor if I can find the right supplies to do it.  I LOVE when a project comes together like this with an idea using things you know you already have on hand.  If you have some old movie reels, wheel cogs, or other similar items, I hope you'll give it a try.

I'm back... and with more Christmas goodness!

After a brief 'time out' for adjusting my schedule to too many activities going on that needed my attention and getting used to babysitting full time, I'm back and in pretty good shape:)  Today, I'd like to share my little Advent tree project.
As with my past few projects, I decided to keep it really simple and haven't even decided yet if I'm going to add numbers.
The little treat boxes are aimed out, so you can open one box each day until Christmas.  I don't think the boxes would have to contain treats.  It would be fun, especially with older children and family, to add a special note inside each one or write a special activity to do each day as a family.
Each box is covered with DSP and hot glued into place.  I LOVE the ribbon I used on this project.
