Measurements for Score Lines for my Joy Sampler

Before we get started with today's post, I'd like to remind you of my Summer Open House Party on August 26 (2:00-5:00) and my big Garage Sale on August 31 - September 1 (8:00-5:00).  If you're in the area, I hope you'll come and check both out.
Now, for today's post.  At our Scraps and Prayers class for making my 'Joy' sampler, I was asked to share the measurements for my scoring on my 12 X 12" background piece.  Today's post is all about those measurements.
Here's the sampler.
Because it's a square, you only have to score on two sides.  I'm sure there are other ways to do your scoring or not use any at all.  This is just the way I decided to do this particular project.
Here's how the measurements worked out on my template and below it are the written out measurements.
Using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool, score at ...
1"
4"
4 1/2"
7 12"
7 3?4"
8"
11"
Turn 90 degrees and repeat same measurements.
You can then decide which side of the CS you'll use for your project.
Having the outside 'borders' of the background at 1" gives you a little wiggle room.  Some of the 12 X 12" frames you get don't leave an opening of completely 12 inches.

I did the scoring for 2 purposes:
- First, it adds a little interest and texture to your project.
- Second, it helps you keep your placement even for attaching the little squares.
If you haven't tried creating your own sampler, I hope you'll give it a try.  You can make them for every season and/or occasion.
Warning:
They're so much fun, they become almost addictive.

Send a little joy today!

My mission through my stamping and paper crafting is to share joy with others.  I find that the more joy I share, the more comes back to me.  What better project for this than my Joy Sampler.  We'll be making it at our August 13 Scraps and Prayers class.  My table is nearly full, so sign up fast if you want to join us.

This is one of the absolute most favorite projects I've ever created.  A big thank you goes to Ronda Wade whose original Joy Sampler became my inspiration.  Thank you, Ronda, for all you do through your Creating for Christ work.  I love it!  Here's what I came up with for mine.
I kept some of Ronda's original ideas and changed others.  The biggest change that I made was to change from Whisper White to Pool Party for my background and to add some decorative scoring lines.

I took a long, long time to finish this project because it involved a lot of placing and moving pieces, playing with the colors and images, and lots of thinking about each change before I committed to it.  I think the wait was worth it.
I hope this will inspire more of my blog followers to try a sampler of their own.  They are so much fun to create, they become almost addictive.  Having yours on display in your home will surely bring joy to you and your loved ones.  Better yet ... make one for a gift for a special someone and the joy will spread even further.  I hope this brings a little joy to you today as you enjoy my post.  God bless you!

Speaking of sending joy, I received so many wonderful cards in the mail during my recovery from my last 4 surgeries.  They all brought so much joy to me ... hand made or not ... I loved them all.  Several of the store-bought cards actually gave me some inspiration for new designs of my own.  So ... send a little joy to someone today.  Spread the joy!

Happy July, Everyone!

I don't know how it got here so fast, but here we are at the start of another new month -- an opportunity for a fresh new beginning of a series of happy summer days and lots of creative fun, especially in the world of stamping.  I'm ready!  Be sure to read all this post so you don't miss out on a super special sneak peek at the very end.  I love it!
I completed my physical therapy (3rd round) just last week and am now working to gain increased strength, through what they call the Bridge Program.  I'm working in the Wellness Gym and that's just what I need.  I think of it as working towards a new and improved me.  It's very slow going, but it's still progress.
I'll be catching up on a few more projects I made several months ago and never got them posted, but I want to share some new fun, too, so I'll just mix them all in together and enjoy a variety of projects and products.  That's life in the world of rubber (or photopolymer:)
We have several promotions starting now or coming soon, so that's an exciting time.  I'm back to teaching classes again.  Yay!  I've missed teaching and sharing and seeing my friends so much!!!
Check over on the left side of my blog for all the latest info to keep you up to date.
Today, I'm sharing a little peek at our July 9 Scraps and Prayers projects.  We'll be making 4 cards from the Notes of Kindness kit.  It's a wonderful kit and I know you'll love these cards.
Here's the info, if you'd like to order your own kit.
And now, for your very special sneak peek.  I ordered a class kit from a fellow demonstrator (Ronda Wade) who has the Creating in Christ series of classes, videos and project kits.  Shown here is a sneak peek at her project.  I'll be coming up with my take on it, including a tweak on the colors.  I want to add some soft blues to it:)
We'll be making our 'Joy Sampler' at my August Scraps and Prayers class and I know you'll want to join us for this one.  I'll have you make it and then you can frame it on your own, which I'll explain at the class.  I truly can't wait for this one!!!
