A Winter Snowflake Card

Here's a nice winter card for you today, filled with snowflakes.  The only stamping is on the inside.  I've given it a very rich look by using our Brushed Silver for the top, embossed layer.  I love the look.  The ribbon and the card base are Bermuda Bay.

Winter Frost Snowflakes... a Closer Look

Let it snow... anytime... if the flakes look like our Festive Flurry snowflakes.  I decided to make my snowflakes double-sided, so I'd never have to worry if they turned around while hanging from their beautiful silver ribbons.  I used shades of blue, soft gray and silver, with a tiny touch of bling.  I wanted them to coordinate with the Winter wreath and the 'Joy' banner I made previously.  I love how they turned out and plan to make a lot more of them.  We'll be making one at my Christmas Retreat.  Scroll down to see alternate dates beyond this weekend.
I took this shot to try to show how dimensional they are, but it's still a little difficult to see.  The silver ribbon is sandwiched between the 2 snowflakes that are attached back to back.

Winter Frost Cards... a Closer Look

Let's take a closer look at my Winter Frost card set.  We'll be making these at my Christmas Retreat.  Scroll down to see optional dates to attend.  I made a box for them, using our new Punch Board.  I just love it when you can find multiple uses for a tool.

The box holds all 4 cards AND their coordinating envelopes.  I've used our Winter Frost DSP and a multitude of stamps, punches and embossing folders.  Our new Festive Flurry stamp set and coordinating framelits work perfectly for the embellishment on the box.  I needed to start with a 9" square for the box, so I used our Smoky Slate CS and did all the scoring and punching with our Punch Board.  In the class, I'll share how to make the hexagon border around the stamped and punched hexagon shape.

Snowflake Frame

I love making most anything with snowflakes.  They are pretty much instant art.  I found this wonderful frame on sale and knew immediately that it would become a home for a beautiful snowflake project.

My color story:
-Bermuda Bay
-Pool Party (ribbon)
-Smoky Slate

I didn't realize it until I started the project that this is one of those frame where the backing is partially attached and the glass does not come out at all.  I was going to attach the snowflake directly to the Smoky Slate CS.  I changed my plan and attached it directly to the glass.  The Frosted Finishes snowflake is the perfect touch to finish off the center of the snowflake.  I think it turned out pretty well.  The only difficult part was trying to get a photo of it with the wind blowing the ribbon.

A Little Shimmer / A Little Bling / A Little Christmas

Today, let's bring out the shimmer and bling.  I have 2 Christmas cards to share with you.  We'll be making these this Friday night at my Friday Night Cards class.  Both cards use our oldest and perhaps most loved stamp set ever --- Lovely As A Tree.

Here's how I achieved the shimmer and bling:
-Shimmery White CS --- both cards
-Brushed Silver CS --- both cards
-Silver Ribbon --- first card
-Frosted Finishes (snowflake) --- first card
-Dazzling Diamonds Glitter --- second card  (almost impossible to capture in a photo)
... and here again are all the cards we'll be making this Friday night.  Get a friend to sign up with you and you will both get to make the bonus card.
In my next post, I'll share more about the last 2 Christmas cards, so be sure to stop by again.  Have a great day.
