LAST DAY OF JULY / ONE LAST CHRISTMAS IN JULY POST

I don't know how it got to be the last day of July already, but I have one last Christmas in July post to share with you before we say hello to August.  These were all my 'blues' for my displays in my vintage cabinet last year.  I used Gesso to attach DSP to art canvases to create my backdrop.  I love how these turned out.  Blue is my favorite color.  After seeing the new DSP coming out in a few days, I think this year's displays for this cabinet will be lots of silvers, grays and blues.  I can't wait to get started on it.

DON'T FORGET:  We're having our big annual summer garage sale!

A Few Last Projects from 2016

I have a few last project to share with you, from 2016, so let's wrap it all up and get ready for new upcoming projects from our Occasions Catalog.  It goes live very soon:)
I wrapped the wreath bases in burlap ribbon and then added the poinsettias.  These are cut from a Tim Holtz die (I needed this size.), cut twice and glued together, for extra strength.  They are spritzed with some shimmer, of course:)
I didn't like any of the ribbons I tried to add, so am keeping them simple for now.
The two older boys and I made a bunch of snowmen for gifts.  They were fun and turned out really cute, but I got some pretty nasty burns from my glue gun.  Ouch!  I cleared out my stash of boards ... that's one more stash gone and put to good use.  Remember, no more hoarding ... use and enjoy!
That's pretty much it for 2016 projects.  I can't wait to share my new projects from the Occasions Catalog.  It is awesome, for sure.

Tic Tac, Anyone?

How about a Tic Tac or two?  This is my last treat holder to share with you ... I think ... at least, for this year:)  I made quite a few of these because the little penguin is just so, so cute!
I made a card, too, inspired by my treat holders.
After all the many, many treats I've shared this year, these are the only ones of which I still have a few left.  I thought they'd make good January treats, too.

Petite Cafe Treat Bags

I keep mentioning that I've been trying to use up my 'stash' of various items, instead of hoarding them.  Today's treat bag is actually one that I keep using up and ordering more.  It's the Petite Cafe Treat Bag and it's good for lots and lots of projects.  I really like using it with fun tags and some sort of clip at the top.  The clips are purely decorative, as the bag rolls down and closes on it's own.

Reindeer Treat Boxes

How about an idea for when you need a treat to give ... really fast?  I've been really working at using up my 'stash' of retired goodies instead of hoarding it.  I love these boxes and thought they'd be cute with chocolate showing through the window.  I dressed them up for Christmas with a cute little reindeer.  It's cute.  It's quick.  It's fun to share!

Matchbook Snowman Treats

As with my previous post, I made lots of these treats to share, too.  They turned out pretty cute, using our little snowman.  Are you rested up from Christmas?  I'm fighting a nasty cold, resting, and doing a bit of stamping.  I just can't let my stamps get dusty:)

Bunches of Box Card Treats

Happy Boxing Day!  I thought this would be a good day to share my 'box cards' with you.  I thank Julie Davison for this idea.  As you can see, I made a bunch of these and have enjoyed sharing them throughout the holiday season.  I gave them to my Christmas Retreat participants and to lots of friends and special recipients.  It is so much fun to spread the joy.  During this week, I'll be sharing several other fun treat ideas with you that I created to share during the holiday season.  Enjoy!

The drawer holds some fun treats!
So... it's a box! ... it's a card! ... all in one!  It's a box card:)

'Merry Banner'

Here's another fun banner project of mine.  This was super fun to create and I have it hanging it my studio.
I 'painted' a background onto the watercolor paper piece (after die cutting it) using Cherry Cobbler reinker.
I die cut and used 2 sizes of stars throughout the banner.   I used a nice assortment of ribbons at each end of the banner, as well as a little bow at the top of each piece.
I die cut letters from black CS to go behind my embossed letters.  The Cherry Cobbler CS letters were embossed (3 X each) with clear EP.  Click here to learn more about embossed letters.
I used gold embossing to add some stamped texture behind my letters.  Before attaching the letters, I spritzed each piece with my shimmer mixture.  Once the letters were attached, I went back and added Wink of Stella to each embossed letter.  I'd say I used quite a LOT of ways to add sparkle!!!
My banner started out like the one below, but I didn't think the embossed stars on each end showed up enough, so I went back and die cut stars to go over them.  Love it!
This is even prettier in real life, but I think you get the idea.

Our Next Scraps and Prayers Project

I just can't wait to share today's post with you.  This is our next project for my Scraps and Prayers class.  I just love it.
I'm having a lot of trouble believing it's now November.  Even though I've been working like crazy on Christmas projects for over a week now, my phone says it's supposed to be a high of 80 today --- in Illinois!  I will say though, I do LOVE it!!!
I tried to get all the shimmer from the beautiful poinsettia, but it's difficult to capture it in a photo.
I glued double layers of CS for each layer of the poinsettia, so it would still hold its shape when I added on lots of shimmer.
I love how this project turned out!
