Today's project is made from an old movie reel. This brings back special memories for me. As a teacher, I frequently showed educational films to my students. Yes, I know how to thread the film into the projector and set it all up ready to go ... all by myself. I learned how in an AV class at Millikin University in my undergraduate years. Today, the reels make great bases for wonderful projects. I love this one! Now, is it time for you to go antiquing and find some reels. I have some smaller reels, too, so I need to think of something to do with those. One last note - - - you could use one of the larger reels to clip on Christmas cards or photos for a super quick and easy display.
This blog is full of creative inspiration for cards, home decor, gifts, scrapbooking and more. Let's create something beautiful today.

Parisian Beauty / Forever Blossoms Canvas
Sometimes, it's fun to create a project just for the joy of creating something pretty. I made this using an 8 X 8" square canvas. The DSP is attached using a clear, matte Gesso.

Uncovering the Hidden Beauty
Before I share today's 'treasure' I want to remind everyone that it's time to get registered for my March 11 Scraps and Prayers class, as well as give me your RSVP for the March 17 Spring Open House Party. A lot of fun is headed your way!
Now, for today's 'treasure' I want to share with you.
I have a work in progress for you today. I apologize for being MIA for a few days, but I've been working in my studio on projects that were just too messy to stop and share. A lot of 'behind the scenes' work goes on here that you just don't get to see.
Here's ONE of my current projects --- working on a sewing machine drawer ... well, actually several drawers. I seem to have quite a collection of these. I love them and they are so handy for containing lots of little items, as well as being super for displaying cards in my studio. I was looking at one the other day and it suddenly hit me that there was something beautiful hidden under all the grungy stain and whatever some fool put over them. I'm still not finished, but here's what I uncovered so far.
Why in the world would you cover up such beautiful brass? All this time I've had these drawers and never realized what was hiding. It has beautiful engraving on each corner and is labeled 'SINGER MFG CO.' How cool is that? I have a ways to go yet, but it's so fun to discover the treasure under the grunge.
UP NEXT:
March 11 --- Scraps and Prayers / 5:30-7:30 / $18.
We'll be working with thinlits and framelits, doing some heat embossing, and adding a bit of Shimmer Paint to our beautiful cards.
SAVE THE DATE:
March 17 ---
Spring Open House Party / 2:00-5:00
(Yes, it's on MARCH 17.)
Grand Re-Opening of my Studio
April 8 --- Scraps and Prayers / 5:30-7:30 / $18.
We're going to have a blast playing with BRUSHO. I decided that we'll use it for card making, rather than creating a Swatch Book, but I'll show you how you could make your own Swatch Book at home.
CONTACT ME IF YOU NEED A CATALOG.

Our Next Scraps and Prayers Project
I just can't wait to share today's post with you. This is our next project for my Scraps and Prayers class. I just love it.
I'm having a lot of trouble believing it's now November. Even though I've been working like crazy on Christmas projects for over a week now, my phone says it's supposed to be a high of 80 today --- in Illinois! I will say though, I do LOVE it!!!
I tried to get all the shimmer from the beautiful poinsettia, but it's difficult to capture it in a photo.
I glued double layers of CS for each layer of the poinsettia, so it would still hold its shape when I added on lots of shimmer.
I love how this project turned out!

'Be Joyful' Framed Scripture Project
I made this framed project a few months ago and have been enjoying it in my studio.
I love the frames that have nice mats like this one.
I've watercolored all the leaves and flowers.
This is a good Scripture to remind us how to live.

My Green Thumb in Action
No one has ever told me: "What a green thumb you have!" There's a reason for that. I'm good with jade plants, marigolds, and hibiscus... and that's about it. I have a project to share with you that shows off how I can STILL have a green thumb and enjoy it. This is sitting on my table in my studio.
Aren't these just stinkin' cute? This gives you a sneak peek at the new colors in my studio --- blues and greens. I still have some black and white in the background. It all works because the black and whites act as just a neutral background, just as I intended. I'm loving my blues and greens together.
This trug (I think that's what you call it.) was green and I painted it to match my studio. I actually left the green on the inside. I just kind of like it that way. I love how this turned out. Give me a little paint and the next thing you know, I've reinvented an entire living space:)
Well, I'm off to babysit and perhaps work in a bit more creative time before the day is over. What will you create today?

I went wild with my Cotton Papers!
After our Scraps and Prayers group in March, using Cotton Papers for our project, I got out all the rest of mine --- a bag of scraps + 2 brand new packages --- and went wild. I cut up ALL of them, using Floral Framelits. I came up with 19 gorgeous flowers... and later added a few more!
They are much more vivid in real life. The color is off a bit in the photo. Blame the photographer, not the camera:)
Does this look like Spring or what? I love them!!! I used one of my favorite vintage pitchers to hold them all. I added a little vase filler (glass marbles) to help arrange the flowers.

My Snowflake Banner ... A Fun Project
Instead of a card or scrapbook project, I have a banner project for you today. It's fun to make and pretty quick and easy... so I kept making another and another and ...
I used 2 alternating designs for my banner pieces. Here is the first design.
Here is the second design I used. I embossed the wooden Snowflake Elements with Gold EP.
It's pretty difficult to get a shot of the banner in place, because it's pretty long. I think I ended up with 26 pieces altogether.
The banner runs the entire width of my studio.
Click here to see a fun video from Stampin' Up! on alternate ways to use our Spider Web doilies.
Above and below: images from the video...
So... now it's time for you to order up some of these fun doilies and get to work. Enjoy!
