Five Days of Daisies, Day One

Are you ready for 5 days of daisies?  These will all be 4 x 4" cards.  You can mail them in a full-sized envelope, but I like to use them to brighten someone's day ... a little surprise gift for someone needing a lift, tuck them into someone's SU order, slip into someone's lunch ... you get the idea.  I love to use my cards as a way to spread joy to others.  What better way to do it than with daisies.  Here's my card #1:
Isn't it pretty? ... and oh so cheerful!
You have plenty of room to write a little note on the inside.  Be sure to come on back for Day #2.
UP NEXT:
- April 21 / Saturday Stampers / 1:00-4:00 / $20.00
MY APRIL 21 SATURDAY STAMPERS CLASS IS NOW TOTALLY FULL AND REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.

THERE HAS BEEN SUCH AN INTEREST IN THIS, I WILL SCHEDULE ANOTHER BRUSHO CLASS AT A LATER DATE.
NOTE:
Stampin' Blends free classes are 'on hold' until SU gets in more supplies for us.

THERE AREN'T ANY CLASSES IN MAY.

More Daisies, Please

How about some more daisies today?  I have 2 cards to share with you.  The first is another version of the design in my previous post.  The second is what I call my 'lone daisy' card.  It's simple and elegant.  Enjoy!

After fussy cutting the tiny daisy, I placed it in the palm of my hand and used a tool (for cake baking, I think) to form a rounded shape.

A Good Day for Some Daisies ... and ... The Truth About My Green Thumb

Today seems like a good day for some daisies.  It's 30 degrees out as I write this and our new deck is covered with a thin layer of white frosty crunch.  Our Spring is having a very difficult time finding its way here, although we do have fun bits of green popping up here and there in our flower beds.  I think most of them are day lilies, along with a few iris.  I love daisies.  They always remind me of Spring or Summer and they seem to bring out the happy in everything around them.  I don't seem to do well growing them outdoors, so I put my efforts into using them in my art.  My only green thumb is from inks or paints:)
I love using ovals for the focal piece of a card.  Whatever you place in the frame instantly becomes the star.  For this one, I used 2 colors, creating a mat for my daisies.
The leafy shape (cut from our Rose Garden thinlits) curves just enough to work perfectly with an oval frame.  I also chose it because it seems to mimic the leafy background in the DSP.
There!  I think I put some happy into our day.  Keep it going and make something beautiful today.

A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose ... Version 2

Are you ready for my second card and mini tutorial today?  Let's jump right in and get creating.  There's good news about this one.  If you've already made my first card, you'll be partly finished with the second one - without even realizing it:)  Here is today's card and one last shot at both of them.
Actually, both of the cards are easier than you'd think to make them.
Mini Tutorial:
- Start with the die cut piece you used for the stencil on the first card.
- It will already have some color one it.  Sponge on more as needed.
- Let ink dry thoroughly.
- Pat VersaMark Ink all over your die cut piece.
- Heat emboss with Clear EP.  Let cool.
- Repeat last 2 steps if you'd like a heavier coating.
- This will look like enamel when finished.
- Attach your rose with leaves to the front of your card.
- Complete your card as you wish.
- Hold them both out at arm's length and admire:)  Smile.  You did it!
I like the variation in the coloring of the die cut piece.  It makes it look more artistic.
I really hope you'll try both of these cards ... and be sure to let me know which one you liked the best.  I think I change my mind each time I look at them:)

A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose ... Version 1

Having a little girl in the family often leaves you comparing.  Sometimes, that is the way it goes in our creative endeavors, too.  Today, I have 2 photos for you to compare --- my sweet Olive Jane ... and me.  I also have 2 versions of a beautiful rose card.

Here are the 2 versions of my card.  After you've seen all of this post and my next post, you can decide which one you like the best.
Here are the 2 little girls for you to compare ...
Here is the first rose card.
I love this text and find myself using it a lot.
A little tutorial:
- Cut rose/leaf shape using Rose Garden Thinlits.  Thick CS works best.
- Using die cut shape as a stencil, lightly sponge over the rose and the leaves.
- I used Old Olive, Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral for my inks.
- Carefully remove die cut 'stencil' and complete your card.
- Set die cut shape aside to use for the second card.
- Note:  I used a separate layer over the front of my card base, to bump it up a notch.
Don't forget to add special touches to your envelope and to the inside of your card.
Here are both versions of my card again.  In my next post, I'll give a little tutorial for making the second card.
I love both versions, so I'm still not sure which one I like the best.  In fairness, the second card looks best IRL.  Just sayin'.

Another Beautiful Box From Our Window Box Thinlits

I have another cute little box for you today, but first I'd like to say a big thank you to those who came to my party yesterday and to my daughter, Jennifer for helping.  I think we'd all agree that we had a lot of fun.  OK, here's today's cute little box:
Isn't this cute?  I used our Rose Garden thinlits for the leaves.
I added a little ribbon pull to make it easy to open.  Notice the cute little details on each of the sides -- a stitched square layered over a scalloped edge square -- the details really make it special.
Isn't this cute?  I just love it.
What kinds of things could fit in here to give someone special a little surprise?
Party Fun:
If you don't live in the area or do but were unable to attend my party, play along with us on some of the questions from our game sheet.  I'll give the answers later this week.

The other questions, I think you'd have to be here to see my studio to guess the answer.

My Daisy Tri-Shutter Card And July/August Class Updates

How about a closer look at my daisy tri-shutter card?  This is one of the techniques/designs we'll be using at my July Saturday Stampers class.  I hadn't made a tri-shutter card for quite a while and thought this DSP would make a beautiful design.
I wanted larger leaves behind my daisy on the front, so I die cut them using our Rose Garden thinlits.  I had to be careful to place them so that they didn't hang over the edges of my card too much or my card wouldn't fit into an envelope.
The fun of creating a tri-shutter card is in planning out where to place your DSP designs.
I reserved the large section in the middle of my card to stamp my Happy Birthday.
I really like our new Decorative Ribbon border punch.
I love how my card turned out and know it will brighten someone's birthday, for sure.
