Eastern Palace Tri Shutter Card + Tutorial

Here's another Tri-Shutter card to enjoy today, along with a little tutorial.

Above ... the card opened.  Below ... the card closed.  I kept this one very simple and let the DSP and the floral branch be the stars.
Below ... This shows you the measurements and where to place your 2 cuts.  Then, you just start folding your pieces, using my card photo as your guide.

CS dimensions:
5 1/2 X 12"

Scoring placements:
Score on the long side @ 2, 4, 8 and 10"
Below:  Here are just a couple of quick diagrams to give you ideas of how to lay out your DSP or stamped pieces.

Each DSP piece is 1/4" smaller than the CS section of the card that it's placed in.  You can do 1/8" if you want less CS border showing.

Best advice:  Play around with them, moving the pieces until you get them the way you like.

Here's a link to a good tutorial for creating a Tri-Shutter card.

Beautiful You Front Step Card

In today's post, I'm sharing one of the cards we'll be making at my Saturday Stampers class this week (July 15).  This card is called a Front Step card and, amazingly enough, it folds flat to fit a regular envelope.  I chose the gorgeous color story of Dapper Denim and Lemon Lime Twist ... again.  I love them together!
I watercolored the beautiful lady, using inks and my Aqua Painter.  I added a second oval behind her and watercolored it, to add extra color and dimension.  This layer is optional.
It is surprisingly easy to make this kind of card.  I'll share more after my class this week.
In the image above, you can see how I've folded it flat.  This really does fit into a regular envelope.
In the side view below, you can see how it's constructed.
This card was inspired by a wonderful lady on a blog I discovered recently ... Jan B, at JanB cards.

My Daisy Tri-Shutter Card And July/August Class Updates

How about a closer look at my daisy tri-shutter card?  This is one of the techniques/designs we'll be using at my July Saturday Stampers class.  I hadn't made a tri-shutter card for quite a while and thought this DSP would make a beautiful design.
I wanted larger leaves behind my daisy on the front, so I die cut them using our Rose Garden thinlits.  I had to be careful to place them so that they didn't hang over the edges of my card too much or my card wouldn't fit into an envelope.
The fun of creating a tri-shutter card is in planning out where to place your DSP designs.
I reserved the large section in the middle of my card to stamp my Happy Birthday.
I really like our new Decorative Ribbon border punch.
I love how my card turned out and know it will brighten someone's birthday, for sure.
