Bunches of Box Card Treats

Happy Boxing Day!  I thought this would be a good day to share my 'box cards' with you.  I thank Julie Davison for this idea.  As you can see, I made a bunch of these and have enjoyed sharing them throughout the holiday season.  I gave them to my Christmas Retreat participants and to lots of friends and special recipients.  It is so much fun to spread the joy.  During this week, I'll be sharing several other fun treat ideas with you that I created to share during the holiday season.  Enjoy!

The drawer holds some fun treats!
So... it's a box! ... it's a card! ... all in one!  It's a box card:)

Pines Three Ways Card ... And A Lucky Surprise Winner!!!

Before I share today's card, be sure you scroll down all the way to the end because I have a surprise winner for some Christmas goodies.  Now, for today's card.  I call this card my Pines 3 Ways card ... embossed and sponged, the pine tree shape, and the pines in the DSP.
Placing the top piece (with the cut out tree) on dimensionals gives a nice depth to the front of the card.
As always, I decorated the inside of the card and the envelope to all coordinate.
I admit that I don't use Garden Green as much as I could be, but I love it with this DSP and it makes a really pretty card with the Cherry Cobbler accents.
And now ... a surprise announcement of a lucky winner!  I decided to hold a drawing in December for a lucky someone to win some special Christmas goodies.  I placed the names of all my loyal customers into a jar, shook it up and sprinkled it out onto the floor.  I told Toby Joe to "choose one."  He did!
Drum roll, please:
The lucky winner is Jessica Brunner!!!  Congrats, Jessica.  Let me know when you'd like to stop by and claim your prize.

Thoughtful Branches 'For You' Card

This little card was one of my favorites I made this year.  I used a lot of fun 'tools' to create this card.  Doing so enabled me to make a great card quickly.  A little light sponging around the tree and it is ready for Christmas.
Well, this is scary to think that I may be winding up my Christmas prep for this year.  I finished my shopping Friday, with my daughter and our sweet baby Joey.  He is a great little shopper.  I finished my cards a couple days ago that I will mail.  I just need to wrap up everything and then I have a couple of projects I'm working on for the kids (almost finished with those, too).  It's so much fun to have a little extra time to do some extra projects.  Like I said, it's scary.  What did I forget to do that I have this extra time?
I'm continuing to share little treats whenever I'm out somewhere.  This is super fun and I'm spreading the joy.  I've been leaving treats for the mail carrier in my mailbox each day.  They work hard and deserve some extra spoiling.
Sunday morning, I was knocked out of commission by a headache from %$#@$%#@$.  I think I was dehydrated.  I rested, drank copious amounts of water and my head feels normal again.  Well, I'm sure my head was never truly normal, but it feels better:)  In the afternoon, Jenn and I took the two older boys to a tour of two famous mansions in Decatur --- the Millikin Homestead and the Governor Oglesby Mansion.  They were all decked out for Christmas and looked just gorgeous.  I took my students to the Millikin Homestead every year when I taught third grade and we studied about early Decatur, so I know a lot about that home and ended up actually giving a tour to the boys.  My husband is a docent at the Oglesby Mansion, so he gave us a tour there.  He knows a lot about its history, too.  I think the boys learned a lot and enjoyed our outing.

Pine Trees Hoop Project

I am finding that I really enjoy building a little vignette  using an embroidery hoop.  You are limited only by your imagination.  Here's my latest.
This is the first time I made one with paper and, whether I used burlap, cloth or paper, I always like to add a cardboard backing, for extra stability.
This was a very simple one and used varying shades of green for added interest.  I added Wink of Stella to the hearts and tiny rhinestones to the sequins.  I really like how it turned out.
Updates:
- My card kits are sold out.
- I have 4 more Tin of Tags kits available, if you'd like to join
us at my Dec. 12 Scraps and Prayers.  I can get out some
  extra chairs:)

November Christmas Retreat, Card 3

Here's a look at the third card we'll be making at our Christmas Retreat this Saturday.  I knew you'd like to see this one.

At the retreat, we'll be decorating all the insides of our cards and the envelopes.
Don't worry about cutting all the pieces, if you choose to attend the Christmas Retreat, because I've already cut all of them for you ... to save time.
Because we're making 3 of each card design, I thought it would be fun to use 3 different designs of DSP for this card.  This one may be my favorite.  I'm not sure yet, because I really like them all.
I still have a few openings left for the November Christmas Retreat.  Sign up soon to hold your spot.  It's going to be a lot of fun and you'll go home with 18 cards --- 3 of each design.
If you are unable to attend, kits are available for $30.
