Pressed Petals Series, Part 4 ... Card 7

Are you ready for my next card?  This one makes use of an embossed background layer, as well as an incredible amount of detailed fussy cutting, layers and textures.  This turned out to be one of my favorites.

I added a big piece of fussy cutting to the inside of my card ... and decorated the envelope.

Here's a close-up of the the 2 fussy cut flowers I added (on dimensionals) to the lower corner of my card.

Not only did I sponge the frame, but I added some Champaign Mist Shimmer Paint spritzing to it.  In real life, it has a beautiful shimmer.

In the shot below, I'm trying to show how detailed the layering is in the center of my card.

I wouldn't say that I'm even close to being a pink person, but I love this card ... a lot ... and I love Rococo Rose.

Pressed Petals Series, Part 4 ... Card 6

A quick post today before we head over to visit my mother-in-law again.  Her bruises are turning so purple and spreading even more and she looks pretty banged up right now.  It just tears me up.  She's always so glad to see us and I'm happy we can still bring her some joy and comfort.  Here's my card.

... more DSP ... another frame ... a lot of fussy cutting ... fun!

Tip:
When you're layering cut pieces to build lots of dimension, stagger them rather than layering them directly on top of each other.  It adds so much more interest.

The card base is Mossy Meadow.  How do yo like this one?  Keep coming back for more.  We're not finished yet:)

Pressed Petals Series, Part 4 ... Card 5

So sorry I've been MIA for a few days.  We've been dealing with my mother-in-law ... in and out of hospitals and now settled in the Christian Village just down the road from us.  She has fallen 3 times now and the last time landed her in the hospital again - with a goose egg on her cheek, a swollen shut eye and bruises all over the right side of her face and down her neck.  She is black and purple!  This sweet lady is having a tough time of it.  Needless to say, there's been little to no time for stamping or blogging.  I AM still having my Paper Pumpkin Club Tuesday afternoon (August 20) at 1:00.  I am looking forward to being with close friends and having a little creative time.
It's going to be a busy week any way you look at it ... this week and next, too, I suppose.  Aaron started school this morning, Ben starts tomorrow and little Joey starts Pre-K next week.  I'm so glad my daughter will be here to put Joey on the bus for his first day.  I'm not sure I'd be able to let him go.  He'll be staying with me in the mornings, eating lunch with us and I'll be putting him on the bus for the afternoon session and then all 3 boys will get off the bus after school each day.  I look forward to spending the mornings hanging with my favorite little guy.  This year will be an adventure, for sure.  I'll be having my creative times in my studio in the afternoons and evenings.
Now, back to my Pressed Petals Series and another card.

Today's card has a BIG fussy cut piece attached over a frame, along with additional little fussy cut flowers here and there over it all, to give lots and lots of dimension.

I love it ... and hope you do, too!

This card could be used for most any occasion.  The inside and envelope are decorated, too, but there's still room to write a nice note inside it.  I've been sharing all the cards my mother-in-law has received in the mail and it's one of the few activities we can still enjoy together.  She's so pleased when I show them to her and read the messages.  Even when she doesn't always remember the person who sent it, she still feels the love they sent and enjoys the pretty designs.

Pressed Petals Series, Part 4 ... Card 3

Today's card has a lot of fussy cutting and a lot of DSP ... and I really like this one a lot.

Speaking of fussy cutting, we had such a relaxing time at Scraps and Prayers last night ... sharing, creating, laughing, and just enjoying a fun time with each other.  I LOVE this group.  I was worried they might go home hating me because they had to do some fussy cutting to decorate their journal covers, but they loved it!  They all agreed with me that fussy cutting can be very relaxing.  Now, here's today's card.  Enjoy!

I used Soft Suede for my card base on this one.  I had several of these frames in my 'stash' drawer ... AKA ... my UFO drawer (Unfinished Objects).  I thought the frame was perfect for this card.  I popped it up on dimensionals, to give it a sophisticated look.  I wanted to just leave my frame plain white, so it wouldn't compete with the DSP and all the leaves and flowers.

The fussy cut flowers and die cut leaves are actually attached to the frame, so they have lots of dimension, too.  I chose to NOT add a sentiment to the front of my card.  Now, it can be used for most any occasion.  I love it.

Follow Your Art Card ... And a Good Laugh ... On Me

Before I share today, I'll give you a Toby Joe update.  We thought his knee injury had healed but, unfortunately, it has not.  He now has another 2 weeks of confinement in his future.  We hate this even more than he does!  They sedated him and took extensive X-rays yesterday and he doesn't have any cancer or growths in or on his bones and no fractures, but he does have severe arthritis in both hips... and the torn ligaments in his knee.  This dragging of his back feet may be his way of compensating for all that's going on with him.  He will be re-evaluated in two weeks and is still facing the possibility of surgery on his knee.  This is a huge concern because he is 12 years old now and will be 13 in September, but our vet told us that she has done this surgery many times on older dogs, so we have complete confidence in her.  Keep good thoughts for our Toby Joe, please.
And now, for today's post and a good laugh ... on me.
You can have a good laugh on me with today's card because, after meticulously cutting out the ribbons image, I then realized that there was a die in this new set - just for cutting this piece.  It was brand new and I'd forgotten about it.  Geez!  At least now I'll be more willing to cut and use this image again.  Anyway, I hope you like my card ... and you can quit laughing now, hee hee hee!  Hey, why are you still laughing?

Terracotta Tile and Crumb Cake?  Yes!

The ribbon is stiff and sturdy, but in a very good way.  It's easy to work with it and you can tie the knot pretty tight and press it down before attaching it.  Also, be sure you twist it around a bit, to get all the scalloped trim showing just right.  I used Liquid Tombow to attach it and then set a large punch on it while it dried.  

I really like how this card turned out.  This is another new set that I've barely scratched the surface on possibilities for using it.  Expect more on this one, too.
