Color Inspiration, Part 2 B: It's all about the boots!

Today, we continue my little series on using color inspiration to guide your artistic creations.  My first post in the series had colors inspired by Aaron digging in the yard.  Yesterday and today, our color inspiration comes from Aaron and Olive Jane playing on the deck.  The colors worked to make 2 totally different color stories, so I've divided the posts into 2 parts.  Aaron's was yesterday and Olive Jane's is today.  This stamp set is perfect for a card inspired by her outfit because she loves boots.  I'm sure she'd wear them a lot if she had a pair like these!

Here's today's card:

I could not get it to show up in the photo, but the card front is covered with a beautiful shimmer mist and the boots are embossed.
Tip:
When you have smaller areas to color, as on the boots, if you emboss first it makes it easier to color.
In this case, I also wanted the shiny look (that you get from embossing) for the soles of the boots.

The lined envelope just completes a perfect ensemble.  I used paper from the Brights DSP paper stack for the liner.

My color story:
Melon Mambo
Pink Pirouette
Daffodil Delight

Here's the photo that inspired my color story:

Kick up your heels! It's Saturday and a beautiful day!

Kick up your heels and enjoy this gorgeous day and beautiful weekend with this cute little card.  I created this card as a birthday card, but it is also quite patriotic.

It's a short post today, as I have my Holiday Stampin' Party / Open House this afternoon.  I'm off to check a quick garage sale we drove by late last night and then put the final touches on the party.

Check back soon to see some of my latest 'treasures' I've been accumulating in antiquing hunts.  It's so much fun!  Also, I have a lot more holiday stamping to share with you.  Have a bootiful day!

A Patriotic Layout

This is the layout we made at our last Scraps and Prayers class.  We are making a scrapbook for a year and this is our July layout.  The boots are a fun touch for the patriotic theme.

In one of my next posts, I'll share the August layout with you.  I designed and used the same template idea for both of the layouts.
I have lots of news to tell you, so you may want to print this out to save or carefully note the dates on your calendar.  I hope you'll find some events that will be just right for you!

SPECIAL NOTE:
Beginning June 1, all of my retiring Stampin' Up! goodies that I can bear to part with at this time will be available.  Here's how I am doing it:  Place an order from the new catalog and, for whatever amount you spend, (before tax and shipping) you will receive that amount in credit to use for the retiring items as well as any other merchandise from my garage sale.

Cards for Spring

With some cute little ducks and stylish rain boots, we can only hope that Spring is just around the corner.  I love the clean, crisp look of the Whisper White and Summer Starfruit on this card.
The duck is one of 24 wonderful stamps from our Spring Sampler set.  It is full of adorable stamps --- all for Spring.  I used the duck to decorate a coordinating envelope, as well.
The boots are from our big catalog - our Bootiful Occasions stamp set.  I used our new ovals framelits to create a nice background for them.  Our new Cloudy Day embossing folder is perfect to perk up the envelope flap.
So, is Spring just around the corner?  It is cold here today but filled with sunshine.  It makes me believe that Spring will come.  For me... the sooner --- the better.

All About the Cards --- Friday 3-4-5 Card Buffet Classes

Hello there!  Today, I'm going to talk about my Friday 3-4-5 Card Buffet Classes.  These classes are designed to give you some freedom of choice in what you'd like to make.  We have so much fun at these classes!  Because it's a card buffet, I usually have out around 12 choices of kits for you.  Some people choose to make multiples of the same card and some people choose to make 1 each of several cards.  You can make 3 cards for $5. or 6 cards for $10. or 9 cards for $15.

The class is designed to offer something for everyone.

For the beginner, it offers a way to make a few cards and not feel intimidated by trying to keep up and finish a big pile of projects.

For the experienced stamper, it offers a way to make a bunch of quick cards, get in some social time and yet still be home in time for family activities.

I offer much more detailed cards, using various special techniques, but not at the Friday 3-4-5 classes.  You'll have to come back another time for the more advanced projects OR book your own Private Card Class.  Contact me if this is something you'd like to pursue.

My goal with the Friday 3-4-5 classes is to provide quick, simple cards ... but still have them be really cute cards.  I offer a rotating supply of kits and a rotating choice of themes for all occasions.  For example, I have 3 returning kits for tomorrow's class and the others are all new.  Whenever a kit is used up, it is replaced with a new kit / new card.

So you can see, it is a lot of fun.  It is a challenge and a lot of work for me to keep rotating and supplying new kits, but a challenge that I am enjoying.  We use the note card sets, so envelopes are included and they are a mailable size.

So, enough talk / type ... let's see some of the cards:

These will be 2 of the new kits out this time.  I rely on DSP, punches and the Big Shot to help speed up the 'creating time' to make these cards, so we don't have to skimp on fun details.

Dimensionals and a sprig of ribbon help to bump up the 'cute factor' of this card.  It could be for a baby card or just a cute Spring note card.  Who wouldn't enjoy sending/receiving a cute little row of ducks?!  Punching out the focal piece is what speeds up creating this card.

I love making coordinating envelopes.  I did cut out the boots on this card, but they don't take very long.  I chose the clouds embossing folder for the envelope to coordinate with the clouds on the rain boots.

Here are some of the cards we made at the last Friday 3-4-5 Card Buffet.   These kits are all 'retired' from the class now.

If you want to see the other cards, you'll just have to join us for a fun stamping time.  The Friday 3-4-5 Card Buffet Classes are always on the second Friday of each month.

Have a great day!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Well, yes, today is my birthday and I'm feeling great.  I am thankful for years of wonderful memories and loads of blessings, especially friends and family.
I appreciate all the warm birthday wishes, too!
With my birthday being the day after the 4th of July, I made a patriotic card, just for fun.
I was dying to play with this new stamp set.  I just love it!!!

The stamp set I used is Bootiful Occasions.  I used midnight muse and cherry cobbler.  After embossing the stripes, I brayered over the raised stripes with white craft ink.  The star in the background is from the Words of Freedom stamp set.
