My Fourth Book Box / A Tutorial for Creating Your Own Book Box

I have yet another book box for you today.  I've just loved making these and am already thinking about which new DSP would I like to use to make another one.  That's a touch decision!  This will be a little bit longer post, because of the tutorial, so let's get started.  Enjoy!

Bella's Step Card and Measurements for Making Your Own

It's not much fun when you've been on strong antibiotics for a while and your doctor checks your infected incision and says: "Oh geeze!"  I'm now on 2 super strong meds and get to go back again next week.  My world is full of doctor checks, lots of bloodwork, PT, meds and ice bags.  My sweet husband is all that's holding down the fort.  Toby Joe continues to stay constantly by my side.  Keep the prayers coming.  I've enjoyed all the cards sent, too.  If you'd like to send one, it would truly make my day ... hint, hint, hint:)
Now, let's think about something a lot more fun than infections.  Today's project --- a card using a darling puppy stamp, along with my favorite color story --- Dapper Denim and Lemon Lime Twist. 

After watercoloring the sky and the grassy background, I added some stamped grass over the watercoloring using the High Tide stamp set.

Here's a close-up of my watercolored puppy.  I think he's so cute!  Love this stamp set!!!

It was fun to add the little strip with the sentiment on the lower section of my card.

I wanted this card to stand up on display for a while, so I added the 2 little strips inside to keep it from opening all the way and falling flat.  If you leave off the little 'support' strips, you can open your card and add text and/or a message inside.  Otherwise, you'll need to add this on the back of your card.

... to see the measurements I used for my card.  I searched the web for the size I wanted and what did I find ... my own daughter's blog! 
How fun is that?!!  After figuring out the measurements and all, I simply added CS and/or DSP to each section in 1/4" increments.  It's really pretty easy.

Schedule Change: No September Classes!
September classes are no longer on my schedule, due to fighting the infection of my incision.  I'll keep you updated on my progress and class schedules, so check this blog frequently.

Sunshine Sayings Card Set

There's just nothing like a sunny day.  Sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy ... for real.  Thanks, John.  I made a set of Sunshine Sayings cards, using all our new In Colors.  Have you decided yet which new color is your favorite?  I'm still trying to decide!  The colors this year are just delicious! 

These really do make me happy.  I'll show you all the details in just one color, as the designs are all the same.  I'm using one of our new punches, too. 

I cut 1/2" off the front edge of my card and then added an inch strip of DSP inside the card.  I love how it shows along the edge.

Notice how, when I added the DSP strip, I left a teeny tiny sliver of the white card edge showing.  I just really like this look.  It's fun to have the flower and the oval hang over a bit when the card opens.  It still fits fine into an envelope and does not extend past the actual edge of the card base, so it's protected from getting bent.

As you can see, there's still plenty of room on the inside to add a note.

Happy, Healthy Life Journals ... AND ... Exciting Party Reminders!!!

I've recently been trying to make some serious changes in being healthier and, therefore, happier.  My puppies put on a little weight this winter, so they've been inducted into my 'program' too.  Facing some serious health procedures coming up (me ... not the pups), I'm trying to stay busy, positive and creative.

Using some favorite stamps sets and new DSP, I made journals for us all to keep track of our progress.  It's really helping and makes it all a lot more fun.  Being creative always makes me happy and being healthier does, too!

Treasures From An Eastern Palace

Today, I have treasures from an Eastern Palace ... our Eastern Palace Suite, that is.  I made another crate, in a new 'wood' design and then filled it with six cute little note cards ... three each of two designs, using some of our gorgeous new Eastern Palace DSP.

Isn't the 'wood' DSP great?  There are 4 each of 12 double-sided papers and they are 6 X 6" so you make a ton of crates.  You can use some of your scraps for trimming out your cards and/or envelopes, any way you'd like.

I love the colors Lemon Lime Twist and Dapper Denim together.  I'm falling in love with Dapper Denim all over again.

I think my favorite thing about the new In Colors is that they all go together so beautifully, not to mention all the many other colors they can pair up with to create the most gorgeous color stories.  If you follow my blog, you know by now how much I love playing with color.
