Season of Sweets, Part 2

This has to be one of my most favorite projects ever.  This is a mini album that we made at our Scraps and Prayers class this month, using the Season of Sweets Designer Kit.  This was inspired by Patty Bennett and then I did my own take on it.

Notes:
  • Use 3 Season of Sweets envelopes.
  • You already have a score line at 4 1/4" so now add a second score line at 5" (on the envelope flap).

  • Create 1 page with Cherry Cobbler CS -- 4 1/4 X 6 1/2".
  • Create 1 page with Gumball Green CS -- 4 1/4 X 6 1/2".
  • Score both CS pages at 4 1/4 and 5".
  • Trim off 1 end on each, following the curved shape of the flap (as shown in photo below) as your pattern.

  • Line up all your envelopes and CS pages.
  • Arrange:  an envelope, a piece of CS, an envelope, a piece of CS, and an envelope.
  • You have more envelopes in your kit, so you can actually make a larger album (with more pages) if you would like to do so.
  • Punch 2 holes (using the C-A-D) in between the 2 outside score lines on all pieces.
  • Thread Sweater Trim yarn through the holes and tie, as desired.
  • Add a felt ornament before you tie the final knot.
  • I added a knot at the end of each yarn tie.
  • Create a card (4 x 4") for the inside of the first page, to show through the window.  This could be a stamped image (as above) or it could be a favorite photo.
  • Use the self-adhesive die-cut pieces to embellish, as desired.
  • Add photos or other cards with stamped images to show through each window.
  • Enjoy as a gift for a favorite someone or use as a brag book!
Let me know how you like this project and let me know if you try your own version.  In January, I'll be showing you some Valentine's Day and brag book mini albums using this kit.  Be sure to order your kits before Jan. 2 if you would like to follow more of my ideas.  Come back soon because I'll be sharing projects from the Spring Catalog  (goes live Jan.3) and you won't want to miss any of my new projects!

Before I go, I'd like to wish my sweet husband a Happy Birthday.  He was a Christmas Eve baby.  Love you, Sweetheart!

Fancy Trimmed Gift Card Holder

Here's a quick and easy gift card holder with a fancy top edging, thanks to a border punch.  We'll be making some of these at my Wrapping up Christmas class this Friday night.

As you can see, I've used two different border punches.  You could also use one of our Edgelits to create a fancy top edging.  You can use this to hold a treat and a gift card.  The possibilities for decorating and embellishing the holders are endless.  Who wouldn't like to receive one of these?

Sign up soon to join us for a fun evening of Wrapping up Christmas.  You'll be glad you did.

Fun Fabric Project

While I'm home this morning with yet another asthma episode (forgot to wear my dust mask when I was shuffling Christmas decorations from storage), I'll share one of my latest fabric projects with you.  These were so much fun to make.
Using 1 piece of fabric from the package, you can make 2 wine bottle gift bags.  The packages come with 3 pieces of fabric, each a different design.  Each piece is slightly larger than a fat quarter, like you buy for quilting.
I dressed it up by tying it closed with some of our sweater trim.  Then I added a pair of our stitched felt mittens and a cute little tag.  I tied the tag on with bakers twine.
My husband had the idea to turn down the top edge a little and I liked it!  He's very clever sometimes and I'm glad he's interested in my projects.  Wouldn't this make a nice Christmas gift for someone.  Of course, my bottle is empty - for display only:)

Have a great day and remind me to use my dust mask whenever I handle anything from storage.  I can't believe I forgot it.  Come back soon.  In my next post, I'll show you another cute project using this same fabric.

Sneak Peek

Look at what I've been making!  I love getting ready for Christmas!  I'm having so much fun getting ready for my Touch of Christmas class for Oct. 19.  We're going to make cards and projects --- any 10 creations you choose.  You can even make additional cards and projects, time and materials permitting, for $2.00 more per card or project.  I'll show you how to make this beautiful flower for the top of the box.
If you look over on the sidebar, you can see more of a sneak peek for the Touch of Christmas class.  If you start now, you can be ready for fun by Christmas Day.  Let's show our friends and loved ones how much they mean to us by giving them handmade gifts this year.

Start creating now and you can have lots of surprises for everyone on your gift list.  Keep checking back for lots of fun ideas to spark your creativity.  Have a great weekend and I hope you get to stamp something.
