Hello, My Old Friend

As promised, today's card features an old friend that I brought back to play.  He's from our retired No Peeking stamp set.  We made this one at the Forsyth Library last Saturday.  When stamp sets retires, I usually give up as many as I can, but there are always a few that I just have to keep.  This is one of those sets.  I just loved it too much to say goodbye.
The penguin is on the inside of the card, with a punched circle window on the front so he can peek through.  I cut a separate strip for the embossed edge across the front of the card, to make it easier for any beginner stampers at the class.  I love the design on this embossing folder!  I think the perfect finishing touch was to give the little penguin some rosy cheeks:)
When I was asked to teach the holiday cards class at the library, the request was for winter cards that could be used by anyone wanting to make a card.  I designed the 3 cards to be used in a variety of ways.  These could be for a greeting for any winter occasion, even thank you notes or birthdays.  I took along a bunch of text stamps, so each person could choose what message they wanted to stamp inside their card.  Come back for my next post and I'll share the 3rd card we made.

Have a great day.  I hope you're getting all ready for Thanksgiving.  I will NOT be shopping on Thanksgiving Day or even the next day.  It's all family time for me and then back to stamping.  I have a big party to get ready to host on December 2, so I'll be spending the weekend changing out the remaining fall decor in my home and getting it to the totally Christmas stage.  I love doing it!  I like to make a lot of my own decor, so I'll be sharing some of my new projects several of my next posts.  Come on back and check it out.

Season of Sweets, Part 2

This has to be one of my most favorite projects ever.  This is a mini album that we made at our Scraps and Prayers class this month, using the Season of Sweets Designer Kit.  This was inspired by Patty Bennett and then I did my own take on it.

Notes:
  • Use 3 Season of Sweets envelopes.
  • You already have a score line at 4 1/4" so now add a second score line at 5" (on the envelope flap).

  • Create 1 page with Cherry Cobbler CS -- 4 1/4 X 6 1/2".
  • Create 1 page with Gumball Green CS -- 4 1/4 X 6 1/2".
  • Score both CS pages at 4 1/4 and 5".
  • Trim off 1 end on each, following the curved shape of the flap (as shown in photo below) as your pattern.

  • Line up all your envelopes and CS pages.
  • Arrange:  an envelope, a piece of CS, an envelope, a piece of CS, and an envelope.
  • You have more envelopes in your kit, so you can actually make a larger album (with more pages) if you would like to do so.
  • Punch 2 holes (using the C-A-D) in between the 2 outside score lines on all pieces.
  • Thread Sweater Trim yarn through the holes and tie, as desired.
  • Add a felt ornament before you tie the final knot.
  • I added a knot at the end of each yarn tie.
  • Create a card (4 x 4") for the inside of the first page, to show through the window.  This could be a stamped image (as above) or it could be a favorite photo.
  • Use the self-adhesive die-cut pieces to embellish, as desired.
  • Add photos or other cards with stamped images to show through each window.
  • Enjoy as a gift for a favorite someone or use as a brag book!
Let me know how you like this project and let me know if you try your own version.  In January, I'll be showing you some Valentine's Day and brag book mini albums using this kit.  Be sure to order your kits before Jan. 2 if you would like to follow more of my ideas.  Come back soon because I'll be sharing projects from the Spring Catalog  (goes live Jan.3) and you won't want to miss any of my new projects!

Before I go, I'd like to wish my sweet husband a Happy Birthday.  He was a Christmas Eve baby.  Love you, Sweetheart!

Season of Sweets, Part 1

I've had some real fun thinking of up ways to use our Season of Sweets Designer Kit.  The kit comes with 12 envelopes, so there is a potential for a lot of projects.

These are made with cards inside, with an image and DSP to show through the cute little window.  I had 3 felt wreaths left from last year's stash, so I added them to the window.

There is actually a second card inside, to hold a gift card.  I put a little magnet on each flap, to hold the envelope shut.  That way, it can be reopened many times and not get torn up.

I did not use any of the self-adhesive pieces for these 3 cards, so I'll save them for another project.

In one of my next posts I'll show you some more ideas for using the Season of Sweets Designer Kits.  If you like these ideas, be sure to stock up before January 2, when the Holiday Catalog retires.  I've stocked up on some extra kits, so I can use them for some Valentine's Day projects.

If you are not familiar with these kits, here's all you get with them:

There are cello bags, in case you want to put cookies in the gusseted envelopes and there are little clear stickers to seal the envelopes.  There are also 2 sheets of the self-adhesive pieces, for embellishments.

I hope this gets you inspired for some ideas for using these kits.  I love when you can start with a kit --- to same time and effort --- but then transform it into something special.

Have a great day.
