My Succulents Wreath

I have one more succulents project to share with you.  It's a wreath.
I used the same process to create the succulents as I did in my previous posts, with one variation.  On the Rich Razzleberry succulents, I added White Craft Ink to the tips.  Doing all the sponging is what makes the petals really stand out and look realistic.
Succulents come in pretty much all different colors, so I tried to add a pleasing variety.
The base of the wreath is a styrofoam ring covered and wrapped with burlap ribbon.
I hot glued the 'fluffy/messy' stuff to the entire ring, then arranged my succulents and, when I was pleased with the placement, began hot gluing them to the wreath.
I took the photo on my porch to get good daylight for the photo.  It is hanging in my studio now.

How about a big tray of succulents?

I admit that sometimes my creativity pops up at unusual times, often in the middle of the night.  That's what happened with today's project.   I went to bed thinking how much fun it is to make these succulents projects.  Finally, a plant I don't kill:)  In the middle of the night, it hit me ... I have a large, square tray that is for candle arrangements, etc.  The minute I thought of it, I knew it would be perfect for my next project.   Love it!

My Grandmother's Crock, Some Succulents, and A Few Tips

I've had my grandmother's crock bowl for years and years.  She died when I was only 5, but I still have a few memories of her.  She was kind and loving and very soft spoken - just like my mother.  She was a fabulous cook, as was my mother.  She had neat things to look at in her home and I loved to just wander and look at them.  I remember her holding me in her arms and rocking me while she hummed softly and I remember looking up at her beautiful snow white hair.  I loved her dearly and treasure the keepsakes I have of hers.  This crock bowl is one of my keepsakes.  I've used it for many things throughout the years.  First to hold vintage cookie cutters (mostly from my mother and my grandmother), then to hold Baker's Twine (wrapped around old style clothespins) in my studio.  I kept walking by it thinking what a neat container it would make for a succulent arrangement.  I emptied out the twine and moved it to another container and started in on my project.
PLEASE NOTE:
For a project like this, DO NOT attach it to your special container.  That way, no harm is done and, if you change your mind again, you can go back to using your keepsake in a new way.
Here's my project:

Here you cn see the little chunks of branches I added to my arrangement.  The succulents are hot glued to these wood pieces.  Everything is just sitting in the bowl and can be changed out in a manner of seconds.
A few tips:
1.  Die cut 2 each of all but the smallest pieces.  Cut 1 of each of those.
2.  After die cutting the pieces for the succulents, start sponging.
3.  Sponge front and back of each piece ---
Old Olive --- sponge all the petals (top and bottom).
Crumb Cake --- sponge over the Old Olive ink.  It adds more depth and texture.
Rich Razzleberry --- sponge just the tips of each petal.
4.  Curl all the petals, using a bone folder.
I curled the bottom 2 layers down and all the others up.
5.  Add your succulents to your arrangement and enjoy!

Cutest Little Pots Ever!

I went looking online for some cute little pots for our next Scraps and Prayers project and I found just what I thought would be perfect.  They come in 6 different colors.  Here is a look at our upcoming project, along with 2 of the color choices.
These succulents are super easy and lots of fun to create.
Get ready for lots of sponging:)
I used 2 of each layer of the larger pieces and then just 1 of each as I got to the center of the flowers.  I'll have more of my succulents projects to share with you in my next posts.  Be sure to come back and take a look.

What's Inside My Decorative Tins?

Are you ready to see what's inside the tins?  Here you go!
I 'decorated' some chocolates to place inside, along with a coordinating round card.  I let Aaron take one to school for his teacher.  Her birthday is next week.  He wrote the cutest message inside and added a darling little drawing.
I've had these wonderful tins in my 'stash' for so long that I can't even remember where I got them.  I knew they'd make great gifts and I love how they turned out.  The DSP was perfect for this project.
I'd love it if you'd leave a comment and suggest other ideas for what could go inside the tins.
Don't forget:  Sunday, March 26 --
Spring Open House Party / 2:00-5:00 / a 'no fee' event ' / RSVP by March 24 and I'll have a special gift waiting for you.  Come and join us for an afternoon of creative fun!

Decorative Tins with Surprises

If you remember reading some of my earliest posts for 2017, you may recall that I've been trying to use up and enjoy some of my 'stash' of goodies, instead of hoarding it and just taking up storage space.  I made a bunch of these for a Vendor Booth I hosted recently.  I had a few left and my husband came to me needing some thank you gifts for his fellow actors from a play they all put on at the Oglesby Mansion.  They had sessions running for a week ... all for any area classes of 5th graders who signed up.  I'm so glad I had something he could give them as a thank you.  A simple gift like this becomes a BIG thank you and is as much fun to give as it is to make.

Would you like to see what's inside?  Well, come back for my next post and I'll share.

More About my Hexagon Stencil Card

The weather here has turned colder and more like winter again, so it's nice to see the bright, fun colors of my hexagon card.  I've always loved blues and greens together.  I used watercolor paper, just to give it some more texture.
I made my own stencil for this card project.  It's cut from watercolor paper, using a retired Stampin' Up! die.
The sentiment (from One Big Meaning) seemed just the perfect size for this card.  If you're looking for a stamp set with lots of fonts and sizes to say thanks, this one is perfect.
I added a flower cut from our Succulent Framelits Dies and placed a rhinestone in the center, for the perfect finish.  I used a smaller flower on the inside of the card and added a few hexagons, from my stencil, to the envelope.  What a bright and cheery way to say thank you.  This would also be a great birthday card, by changing the sentiment.
My next classes and events:
Saturday, March 18 -- Saturday Stampers / 1:00-4:00 / Using stencils creatively (on cards) / $20. / Pay to register at least 2 days prior to the class.
CLASS IS FULL.  REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.

Sunday, March 26 --
Spring Open House Party / 2:00-5:00 / a 'no fee' event / RSVP by March 24 and I'll have a special gift just waiting for you.  Come and join us for an afternoon of creative fun!

REMINDER:
Don't forget that SAB is nearly over.  As products run out, like the cute card tin below, that's just it.  They are done.  We also have an entire line of In Colors that will be retiring soon.  If you need anything that will be retiring, scoop it up now before it's too late.

Oh So Succulent Tip Top Taupe Card

Today's card is one of my favorites I've made with our new Occasions Catalog products.  Succulents are really big now.  I cannot seem to pick up a catalog without seeing tons of cute succulents/succulent related items.  I really love them.  Of course, I was born without a green thumb, so 'faux' succulents are fabulous, as far as I'm concerned.  Actually, I have managed to grow a few live ones but, since we moved, our house doesn't lend itself to good lighting for plants.
My card base is Tip Top Taupe.
Other colors used are Calypso Coral and Soft Sky .
Click here to see the layout I created that was inspired by this card.
I just love how this card turned out.  Be sure to keep coming back to check out what I have for you.  Expect more succulents soon, as well as many fun cards and projects.

Oh So Succulent Layout

Today's layout was inspired by the card I shared recently.  Click here to see the card.  I really like how this one turned out.  As with my dragonfly layout, it's very nature themed.
There are stamped flowers and cut flowers.
I did a little soft sponging here and there and added touches of Wink of Stella.
