Coloring Techniques, Part 9

Are your ready for some more fun coloring techniques?  Today, let's focus on an acrylic block technique that will create a unique background.  This is one of the easiest techniques ever and always produces a fun result.  The great thing about it is that you could make a hundred cards and each one would be a little different.  Let's take a look at my page.
Here's how you do it:
1.  Choose an acrylic block the size you'd like for your background.
2.  Color on it with 1, 2 or 3 colors of Stampin' Write Markers.  Use SIDES of markers.
3.  Spritz it gently with water.
4.  Stamp.
5.  Carefully lift block and see your beautiful and unique background!
6.  Experiment with different colors, different stamps and different amounts of water to see what you like.
7.  Choose a stamp to stamp over it, once it dries.  Using a darker ink helps the image to show up better.

Here's the card I made using this technique:

Cards Using Coloring Techniques, Part I

Today, I'll start a little 4-part series giving you a closer look at 4 cards using coloring techniques.  We'll actually be making these at my Friday Night Cards class this week.  Each one features a unique coloring technique from my Coloring Techniques album which we're making Monday night.  Enjoy!
This card features a coloring technique using an acrylic block to 'stamp' on the color background.  I've added a little linen thread + a layer of black behind the front layer, to give it texture and dimension.  This would be a great card for male or female.  I love this set because I adore watching these little birds when I walk along the beach.
I'm featuring a unique way to make a coordinating envelope for each of these cards.  This envelope simply uses a coordinating stamp from the Wetlands stamp set.
Here are all 4 of the cards.  Come back soon to see close-ups of each of the other 3 cards shown here.

Mossy Meadow and Wetlands

Today, before I head back to the hospital to check on my hero, here's a quick card I have to share with you.  I used our Wetlands stamp set (one of my favorites) and our new In Color, Mossy Meadow.  It has an oval window like this previous card I shared with you.
I tied linen thread around the top and added a knot in the ends of the thread pieces.  The inside is sponged with 3 of our new In Colors --- Hello Honey, Tangelo Twist, and Mossy Meadow.
I love this card, but it does have 1 problem.  There is no place inside to write.  Yikes!  I will enclose a separate note behind the card and place them both into the coordinating envelope (which I neglected to photograph).  This is a good masculine card, but I think anyone would like it.
Give some sponging a try.  It really adds a nice touch to your card.

September Cards: Let's look at them all!

I've been showing you the cards for my upcoming Friday Night Cards (Sept. 13) / Sunday Afternoon Cards (Sept. 15) classes.  Today, let's go back and look at them all.  In case you're wondering, the Dasher (Christmas) card is the bonus card.  If you get a friend to sign up for the class too, you both get to make the bonus card.

Honk Honk! A Wetlands Goose for Today

I love our Wetlands stamp set.  I've been using the goose quite a lot.  Here's another card we made at our Springfield meeting last month.  I thought it would be fun to make at my Friday Night Cards (Sept. 13) / Sunday Afternoon Cards (Sept. 15) classes too.

I did add a little tiny bit of grunge to mine, just for fun.  This card is loaded with texture.  It would make a great masculine birthday card, as well.
... and yes, I have another lined envelope:)  Love them!!!

You Silly Goose, Version 2

Here's my second version of my goose card, using the goose from Wetlands.  It's also a great card for a guy.  This one is monochromatic, using Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, Whisper White and Basic Black.  I used the sea oats for the coordinating envelope.
 Christmas is coming!  Stay tuned!!!

You Silly Goose ... a Nice Masculine Card in 2 Versions

I love this goose!  It makes a great manly card.  It's from a favorite new set --- Wetlands.  This is the last card from my Friday Night Cards class.  I made 2 cards, actually, to experiment with color stories.  This first one is the one we made at my class.

The sea oats on the envelope are from this same stamp set.  I used the Aquapainter with ink pads to lightly color the goose and the grasses.  My color story is Island Indigo, Baked Brown Sugar and Soft Suede.  You can see the other cards from our Friday Night Cards class by clicking here.  It will have a couple of links to the earlier cards, as well.  I don't want you to miss anything:)

In my next post, I'll show you the second version.  Be sure to check back to see it.  Also, Christmas is coming --- classes, anyway --- so stay tuned to see what's in store for you.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
