Whole Lot of Lovely Card Trio

Today's post shares 3 of my favorite cards made with the wonderful Whole Lot of Lovely DSP.  This paper is just gorgeous.  Enjoy!
For the first card, I tinted my Embossing Paste with Peekaboo Peach Reinker and then stenciled it over just a part of the background.  This is a super easy way to add some great texture to your cards.

See what I mean?  This gorgeous DSP lends itself to beautiful and elegant cards and projects.  I didn't have room in the limited space for the 'labels' in my post to share which ribbons I used.
They were:
- Stitched Satin ribbon --- Basic Black
- Finely Woven Ribbon --- Tranquil Tide
- Crinkled Seam Binding --- Peekaboo Peach

Smooshing and Embossing Paste Card ,,, AND ... a Special Birthday Today!

I love creating original, one-of-a-kind backgrounds.  My three favorite methods are using Brusho (Pigmented Watercolor Crystals), using watercolors (or reinkers as watercolors) and smooshingSmooshing (I may have made up this word:) is done using several colors of ink, directly from the ink pad and lightly sponging on the inks, one at a time, to create a random design of colors.  For this card, I chose shades of blue, green and purple.
Once I've finish the smooshing, I like to spritz the CS a bit, to add a super cool look to the background.  I use either Shimmery White CS or watercolor paper, depending on how much water I plan to add to my project.
Once I was happy with my completed background, I let it dry and then added a bit of stenciling, using embossing paste, to create a brick effect.  I love how this one turned out.  This card is a perfect example of making it up as I go along --- my favorite kind of art.
I added a layer of Basic Black CS behind my beautiful art piece.  This helps to make it really stand out.  I kept the card base white, to tie it all together.
I absolutely love this card.  I'd also love it if you left me a comment and let me know what you think about this card.
Before I go, I want to give a big birthday wish to my sweet little Joey.  He is a big TWO years old today and gives me such joy.

My Favorite Chick

For today's post, I'm sharing my last, and probably most favorite, chick.  I love this little guy.  He reminds me of an embroidery project I did years ago.  They both look like they just got out of bed:)

Stepping It Up With Bermuda Bay ... Note Card to Full-Sized Card

Let's grab our Bermuda Bay ink, CS and glimmer paper and step up to a full-sized card from our previous note card design.  Let's look at the note card first.  I think it's actually my favorite of the two sizes of cards.  It's just cute and fun.  The front of the card has 1/2 inch trimmed off, to allow the pretty glimmer paper to show through ... which is a strip on the bottom of the inside of the note card.
Here's the full-sized card. Extra stars, glimmer paper in the middle, and same stenciling as the note card.
You can see just a simple punched star to add a little fun to the inside of the card.
So ... Which design do you like the best?

Dragonfly Birthday Card

Here's a card we'll be making at my Saturday Stampers class.  It's going to be so much fun!  Actually, as of today, registration for this class is closed.  Be sure, if you have a class you'd like to take, sign up early, so you don't miss out.  I do limit class size, so I can give help, as needed, as well as have plenty of materials for each one in the class.
Now, back to today's card.  This card actually uses dies as stencils.  The only time you need to use the Big Shot is to cut out the attached dragonfly.
I used Pool Party for my spritzing.
The butterfly is cut from vellum.  I added color to the vellum by sponging the back of the dragonfly and then heat set the ink.
I think this technique makes for a really pretty card.
You can easily change your design by varying the color you use to spritz and/or varying the die you use for your stencil.

A Bright And Wonderful Happy Birthday

I usually think of birthday cards as being bright, cheerful, and full of fun.  This card has all that and more.  We'll be making this one and more at my April 22 Saturday Stampers class.  If you missed my March class on creative stenciling, you'll get to try a bit of it for this card.  It's easy and fun!
I was using a very large stencil for this card and kept moving it occasionally, so the dots overlap each other in random patterns.  I used the same technique to add more dots to the inside of the card and the envelope.
I love these colors together.  I think I need to make some more of these for my personal stash.
April Events:
April 10 / Scraps and Prayers / Easter Egg Carton Project / 5:30-7:30 / $15.00 / I'll have a special treat for you, too!

April 22 / Saturday Stampers / Birthday Bonanza / 1:00-4:00 / $20.00 / NOTE:  NEW DATE.

A Polka Dot Birthday Card and Our Party Winners

I really enjoyed my Spring Open House Party yesterday.  Even with writing up orders, shopping and making our projects, it seemed like we had more time to sit and visit, talk about art and just enjoy each other's company.  In my book, that's a good Stampin' Party!  I'll share my card for today with you and then be sure to scroll on down to see the party winners and my next events.  Please note there is a DATE change for my Saturday Stampers in April.  Even though I looked at my calendar repeatedly, I still didn't realize I'd scheduled it for Easter weekend.  It has now been moved to the following week (April 22).  Here's my card.  This is one from my stenciling class.
It was fun to add the polka dots to the envelopes and the inside of the card.
It doesn't show up well in the photo, but I added Wink of Stella to all the blue polka dots ... just for fun.
I really love this card and its soft colors for a Spring birthday.  So now, here are my party winners.
