Shimmery Leaves

I have been enjoying the beautiful Fall leaves so much this year.  I always take great joy in studying the colors in nature.  To me, as an artist, it's all about playing with color.  Today, I have a layout for you, for Fall.  We made this at our last Hostess Scrapbook Club crop.

I used Soft Suede as the background and took the colors directly from our Orchard Harvest DSP.  I added a strip of Champagne Glimmer Paper, using the Tasteful Trim die, to the layers of DSP.

The 'v' cuts in the flag strips are done with a square punch.  I also stamped some leaves onto the background CS, for added texture,

After stamping and cutting out the leaves, I placed them in an old cake pan and spritzed them with my Frost White Shimmer Paint/alcohol mixture.  It makes a really nice finishing touch to the layout.

So, an easy layout for a beautiful Fall day.  I cannot believe we're into November already.  I'll be busy with a lot more Christmas projects soon, so come back and see what I'm doing.

More on Favorite Fall Leaves

Yesterday, I posted 2 of my super favorite cards I've been working on for Fall.  Here are some some more details on them.
The first one is monochromatic.
This card is probably my most favorite of the two, but it's a pretty close tie on both.  This one has a Crumb Cake card base, with Soft Suede and Early Espresso die cut scallop circles.

This one has a Cajun Craze card base, with Early Espresso and Soft Suede die cut circles.

On the Cajun Craze card, I let the colors sing out the beauty of Fall.  On the Crumb Cake card, I wanted more of a touch of elegance to go with the subtle shades of color.  To do this, I lightly brushed the edges of the leaves with VersaMark ink and then embossed with gold EP.  Both cards have an embossed greeting, one in gold and the other in Pewter.
I chose the buttons to go with the tone of the card as well, one being more 'earthy' and natural with the other being more elegant.  We have so many beautiful buttons that it's easy to find the perfect one for each project.
So...
Which card do you like the best?
I'm off to work in my studio.
I have a big group coming tonight and we're going to stir up some super stamping fun!
Come back soon to see more Fall cards and some of my latest Christmas creations.  I still have more Halloween ideas, too, so I plan to make more goodies for that holiday, too.  So many stamps... so little time...  Have a great day and be sure to stamp something.

My Fall Studio

I love the Fall.  I love the sights, the sounds, the smells, the activities and, most of all, the beautiful colors.  As an artist, I love to study the colors in the leaves and I love to take long walks in search of color inspirations.  Here are 2 of my most favorite Fall cards for the season.  Come back tomorrow and I'll tell you more about them.
Here's a peek at what's going on in my studio this Fall.

As you can see, I've been pretty busy.  Here are some other shots of favorites I have on display right now.  If you know me, you know how much I love to go antiquing and hunt for little treasures to use in my creations.  Some of my favorite finds are old cookie cutters and biscuit cutters.  Since I'd rather stamp than cook, what better way to use them than to decorate them.

I have lots more to share with you, so come back again soon.  Have a great day.

Playing in the Leaves

Today's post shows a project I made playing in the leaves.
I used the French Foliage and Perfectly Penned stamp sets.
I still cannot believe how wonderful the new ink pads are to use.
I just love them!
They really kick up your stamping several notches:)
I used a two of the framelits to set off the focal piece, along with a couple snips of more mustard and old olive ribbons.  I love the polka dots!

My ink colors:
crumb cake
soft suede
more mustard
cajun craze
pumpkin pie
old olive

... and yes, you guessed it, this will be one of the choices at my Friday 3-4-5 Card Buffet Class.

Pear Pizzazz in the Fall

On this card, I used one of my favorite stamp sets for fall stamping  -- French Foliage.  In using the pear pizzazz and other soft colors, I was once again taking my cue from the colors in our Spice Cake collection.

To create this fun fold, cut your card base at 4 1/4 X 11" and create your score lines with our wonderful Simply Scored tool.  Score at  2 1/4 and 5 1/2" and fold as shown.
For added interest, I spritzed my card with my frost white shimmer paint/alcohol mist.
The focal piece is very vanilla and soft suede CS.  The inks are pear pizzazz, soft suede, more mustard and pool party -- Spice Cake colors:)
