Beautiful Card with Blues and Texture

I love this card I'm sharing today.  It has beautiful blues and lots of texture, along with one of my favorite texts.

Remember when we cut the papers for one of my hydrangea cards?  I used the blue pieces from the middle of each sheet as layers for today's card.

I cut these papers and saved the middle pieces, knowing I'd use them for this card.  I actually had the design for today's card already in my head before I made the card below.

With this cut, you can get 6 card fronts from one sheet of DSP.

Now, back to today's card.

I cut 2 layers for the card front, reducing each layer by 1/4" on top and side.  I embossed the very top layer, to add lots of texture, popped it up on dimensionals and then ran my fingernail along the edges, to rough it up just a tiny bit.
The stitched vellum piece adds even more texture.
The flowers are actually 3 groups of flowers cut from some of the Hydrangea Hill DSP.  I worked with them with my fingers to curl them up a bit (after fussy cutting) and then attached them all with dimensions.
So that's it for a pretty card in blue.  Hope you liked it.  In my next post and I'll share more blues, using a seashell theme instead of flowers.

Come back soon for more fun projects!

AN EASEL CALENDAR FOR THE NEW YEAR

I've enjoyed making lots of calendars and decided to go with an easel style for 2021.  I love all the colors in our new Hydrangea Hill Suite, so decided to go with some luscious purples for this project.

The top layer is just a 1/4 sheet of CS.  It's attached as shown.  When you fold it flat, it's just a regular card size and fits in an envelope, if you choose to mail it to a friend.
The vellum adds an extra element of texture.  The little clips are just for fun.
I started with a half sheet of CS - 8 1/2 X 11" and scored it at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2" and folded it as shown in the photo.

I have a quick and easy card for you coming up next.  Be sure to come back to check it out.

A COUPLE OF CUTE PROJECTS - A NOTEBOOK AND A GIFT BOX

I created 2 quick and easy projects for my January class kit.  We decorated a composition notebook and a little gift box.  I used more of our Sale-A-Bration DSP - Flower and Field.  I love all the bright, springy colors.  Whenever you cover a notebook, if you can find one that has a spine color the same as one of the  colors in the DSP, you can avoid covering the spine, which doesn't always attach as smoothly.  It will wear better, too.  For this notebook, the DSP is 9 3/4 X 6 3/4".  Run a strip of adhesive all the way down the front, next to the spine, line up the DSP there and then lift and add more adhesive to cover the rest of the front (or back).  When the adhesive has set, round the corners with a sanding block (like used for manicures).

The DSP for the matchbox gift box is 10 X 4 1/8" and wraps around the outside of the box.  Start at the side, apply adhesive and smooth down the DSP.  Move to the next section of the box and proceed the same way, one section at a time.  The belly band is 1 1/4 X 10".  Adding a ribbon around it helps hold it all in place securely.  I love these little boxes because they hold quite a lot.

In my next post, I'll be sharing a fun easel style calendar.  Be sure to come back and check it out.
