Feels Like Frost / In the Woods

Today's card I'm sharing is pretty inside and out.  I am really trying to make the insides of my cards this year be very special, with layers and text and a little stamping and/or DSP.  I'm making the outsides super pretty, so why should you open such a card to find it just plain inside?  It's been a lot of fun.  Everything is coordinated, including the envelopes.  Today's card is extra fancy inside, to stand up to a gorgeous outside, of course.  We'll be making this one at my next Scraps and Prayers class - the one we postponed due to the bad weather on Monday.
The texts on the card front and on the inside are from our new Christmas Rose stamps.  Using the Stamparatus is a MUST for getting both texts into the perfect position.  Look at this gorgeous inside! Love it!  If you want to add a message, you can insert a note ... or just write on the inside of the card front.
I cut both trees from our In the Woods dies, using Shimmery White CS.  I attached the smaller, dimensional tree over the larger, flat tree.  I used my paper piercer to lift up the cut 'boughs' and then added a bit of Shimmery Crystal Effects to the edge of each one.  To add even more sparkle, I sprinkled on Dazzling Diamonds glitter while the Crystal Effects was still wet.  The result ... gorgeous!  The trees are attached with dimensionals, to lift them from the background a bit.
The background paper is just perfect for this card.  I love it!

Embossing Two Ways ... and Some Tips

I have 2 little 4 X 4" cards for you today.  They show 2 ways to emboss - both dry embossing.  We'll save heat embossing for another day.  Both cards are in our beautiful new color - Soft Sea Foam.
The card on the left above is embossed simply by running the CS through the Big Shot with the Lovely Floral TIEF (Textured Impressions Embossing Folder).
The card on the right above is embossed using our Springtime Impressions Thinlits.  This 'new' way to emboss is so much fun and super easy.  Now we can use our thinlits dies for more than just cutting.  I'll have a tutorial on it in a future post.
I wanted just one more element on my little cards to complete them and I chose our beautiful new butterfly.  It's large for the card, but I like it.  After die cutting it, I spritzed it with my mixture of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and Rubbing Alcohol.  Mix by adding paint to your alcohol until you get the intensity you like.  I use a larger bottle to mix mine because I use it all the time.
TIPS:
- Remove nozzle from your spray bottle and clean it frequently, to prevent clogs.
- I use a little travel size bottle for mine because I use it so much.
- Add a little 'marble' to your bottle to help keep it mixed.
- Swirl your bottle.  Don't shake it.  This prevents bubbles.
- My 'marble' is from an empty Shimmer Paint bottle.  Yes, I use it a lot:)

Beloved Old Favorite Stamp Set

What is our very oldest (and beloved) stamp set?  It's Lovely As A Tree.  It's beautiful, versatile and has been super popular for a long, long time now.  I've pulled it out for today's card and I think this card was the top favorite at my October Christmas Retreat.
To create the background, I used Pear Pizzazz, Lost Lagoon and Mossy Meadow markers on an acrylic block (size D), spritzed it 3 or 4 times with water and stamped the background.  After it dried, the tree was stamped in Basic Black ink, along with the sentiment.
The tree was then dressed up for Christmas, using our 2-Way Glue Pen and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter --- gorgeous and simply elegant.  The card base is Mossy Meadow.  I added a layer of black behind the top layer of the card, to pull it all together.  If you haven't tried the Acrylic Block Technique yet, you just don't know all the fun you're missing.  Each time you stamp it, you get a unique surprise.  I have several previous posts using this technique, so you can do a 'search' to learn more about it.

A Really Pretty Card

Sometimes, I just like to make a really pretty card.  With Coastal Cabana and embossed vellum, it just has to come out pretty.
I embossed the 3 flowers (with White EP) onto our Shimmery White CS and then sponged over them with Coastal Cabana.  I stamped the same flower on the inside of the card and on the coordinating envelope.
I could see changing out the 3-D flower images and turning this into a baby card.
I hope I've gotten you inspired to start creating some Spring cards of your own.  It's good for your soul.
