Pressed Petals Series, Part 4 ... Card 8

Before I share my next card, just a reminder about the September 2 deadline to pay to register for my September 9 Scraps and Prayers class.  This one requires a lot of prep on my part, so the sooner you sign up, the better.  We'll be making this beautiful sampler for a home decor project.

Ready for lots more fussy cutting today?  I love this one!

I used one of the larger rectangles from the DSP and then fussy cut and off-set layers of flowers and leaves over it.

I basically was using scraps to decorate the inside of my card.

Look very, very closely at the bottom of my card front and you'll see that I added additional texture and interest by giving it 4 parallel scored lines.

To make sure that the scored lines didn't weaken the card front, I added a layer of Whisper White to each part of the inside of my card.  It looks pretty that way, too.  I added a cute little bow from double strands of Linen Thread.

Well?  What do you think?  I love it!

Stamparatus Magnolias ... So Fun ... and Easy!

At my July Scraps and Prayers class, I'll be teaching how to use the Stamparatus and Simply Scored tools to create a super fun card ... with magnolias, of course.  Here are the cards I've made:

I actually made 2 versions of my design.  In case you don't want to mess with trying to tie a little bow, you could punch out a couple of leaf trios.  Some days are bow days and some just aren't.

I used scoring lines on my scrap template to determine the best placement for the text, in the center of my square.  Once I had that figured out, I could use my Stamparatus to keep the placement exactly right for my cards.

I added a touch of stamping on layers inside my cards, as well.

I really like how my cards turned out.  I love the little blossoms.

It's always nice to have a little stash of 'Thinking of You' cards.

We had a super fun class Monday night.

Today, I want to share with you how much I love my Scraps and Prayers group.  These ladies and I have become quite close as we continue to create and share together.  They loved my Joy Sampler just as much as I do.  They worked so hard and had a wonderful time together.  They even got to see a sneak peek of just a few of the new items from my Holiday Catalog pre-order.  They requested that I share the measurements of each of my score lines, so I'm doing it right away so I don't forget.  I'll share those in a post very soon.   I have a few shots of our fun class.  Enjoy!

Fresh Florals and In Colors, Card Three ... and ... Some Good News

Well, I'm back.  I didn't mean to be MIA for so long, but I freely admit that I am wiped out after my Physical Therapy each day.  I continue to progress ... SLOWLY ...but positively moving in the right direction.  I can't sit OR stand for very long at a time, so I ordered a cart (graciously put together by my husband and my son) to use as my temporary work station by my big chair.  I work on little projects there and am constantly rotating what is behind my stamping bar and what is on my cart.  It feels so good to complete some little projects.  And ... I have good news to share.  Yesterday, I graduated from a walker to just a cane.  Yay!!!  I'll still use the walker if I ever go out somewhere, but the cane is all I need at home now.

I hope you're getting the idea of how to design a card template and then make several cards, each one a slightly new variation on your original design.

As you can see, changing just the color story can make a huge difference on a card design.

Fresh Florals and In Colors, Card One

I liked our Fresh Florals DSP so much that I made one in each of our 5 In Colors ... the ones that are not retiring yet.  For today, here's my card in Berry Burst.  Enjoy! 

I added a little DSP to the front and the back of the envelope and a die cut heart to the inside of my card.

Look closely to see the detailed scoring on parts of the front of the card.

One - Sheet Lidded Gift Boxes

I have found, over the last year or so, that I love making boxes and bags.  My favorite boxes to make are inspired by Sam Hammond, AKA Pootles, on her blog (http://pootles.co.uk/) OR another favorite of mine - Julie DiMatteo, on her blog (https://thepaperpixie.com/).  They both have wonderful projects, wonderful blog posts, and wonderful, easy to follow video instructions.  My favorite boxes to make start with cutting and scoring, not even using the punch board.  Over the next few posts, I'll be sharing a few of my box creations with you.  I hope you'll be inspired to try a few. 

I just love that these boxes each started out from a 12 X 12" piece of DSP.  I used the fancy side of the DSP to make my boxes as pretty as could be.

I used bits of our fun Ready Shreddie, popped a few treats nestled in it, closed the box and tied it with a pretty ribbon.

By using some embellishments from our Sweet Soiree Embellishments Kit, this was really a pretty quick project - and actually quite easy. 

Aren't these embellishments cute?

These are some of the largest boxes I've made.  They hold a surprising amount of goodies.
