Playing With Watercolors, Part 1

A while back I had some time and was playing around with watercolors.  Then, when I got sick, I couldn't finish them for a long time.  When I needed to catch up on birthday cards for our church to send out, I grabbed these backgrounds and went to town creating several designs of completed cards.
Adding a few black speckles and then a mat of black behind the top layer really pulled the card together.  I love how it turned out.
I made quite a few of these cards, so I was so glad that I had made a bunch of backgrounds on the day that the playing all started.
I made some of the cards with blue or green card bases and others with white (thick CS) bases.  Which one do you like the best?  I have one more post coming up for you (a totally different color story with watercoloring) and then I'll start sharing some of my cards with our upcoming new In Colors.  Yay!  I can't wait.  Be sure to come back to see them!

Coloring Techniques, Part 4

Today's technique involves creating a shadow of your stamped image.  It is achieved using one stamp with 2 kinds of ink.  Let's take a look.
You create this look using White StazOn Ink and Early Espresso Ink.  (You could do it with White Craft Ink instead of White StazOn Ink.)

Here's the card I made using this techique.
For the card base, I tried using our new Kraft CS instead of Crumb Cake.  I love the weight of it and it stamps nicely.  I'll be thinking of more projects for this new CS!
Be sure you don't miss my next technique.  It's one of my favorites and it uses one of my favorite new stamp sets.

Baked Brown Sugar... Yummy!

Today, let's continue our series on meeting the new colors.  Meet a new In Color, Baked Brown Sugar.  This is a really yummy color and the Color Coach suggested some combinations that I would not have thought of trying.
The first color story is Baked Brown Sugar, Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler.  This combination makes for a very rich looking card.  With the red and green, I tried hard to NOT make it look like a Christmas card.  I just wanted something different, for more of a challenge.

The second color story is Baked Brown Sugar, Crisp Cantaloupe and Bermuda Bay.  Crisp Cantaloupe is also a new In Color.  Bermuda Bay is an old favorite, returning color.  I used my Aqua Painter to color in the sea star and the sea shells.

Both cards have images that are cut out and mounted on dimensionals, for added texture.
So, once again, I'll ask you --- which color story do you like the best?

Boxes, Banners, Bags and Tags

As promised, today's post continues with more Stamp Club sneak peeks.  Today, we'll focus on my August Stamp Club --- Boxes, Banners, Bags and Tags.  I can't wait to do these projects with you!
I didn't have my order here yet for the bags when I took this shot, so I'll show you the cute little bag separately.  Isn't this cute?
For this class, we'll use the boxes kit and then the bags and accessories kits.  Here's all you get in the accessories kit:
In my class, we'll focus on ways to use the tags in addition to using them to tie onto a gift.  The banner was all made with tags.  I made good use of my 2 butterfly punches, too.   The card was made with the tags, too.  I used one of our fabulous new embossing folders used on it.

A Happy Birthday Card

Each month, I design and make cards for our church to send out to those having birthdays each month.  Here's what I designed for June.  I really like how this one turned out.  I used an embossing folder from our last SAB, and 2 current stamp sets.

I placed a glimmer brad at the center of the flower.  For a finishing touch, I tucked the banner greeting under the main image and then stamped a coordinating envelope.  I hope it will make the recipient's day to receive this card on their birthday.
