My Favorite Detailed Lace Project

In my previous post, I shared some fun sheets in various colors that I made from using spritzers with our lace overlays as stencils.  Here's the wonderful project I made using a spritzed lace sheet as my background.  I love it!  I must give credit to this wonderful artist for the inspiration.  Here's my version of her project.
I spent a long time on this project and loved every minute of the creative process.
Remember this sheet (below)?  This is what was under the layer I used for today's project.  I will still have this sheet to make some coordinating cards --- or another project:)
Love it!  This fits into a 12 X 12" frame.  I chose a white frame because it seemed to best compliment my project.  The color story is Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana and Night of Navy.

Detailed Lace Magic

Making magic, using our Detailed Lace CS?  Who knew!  Gather some 12 X 12" CS, a package of our Detailed Lace --- actually called Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper --- a few favorite colors of reinkers mixed with alcohol in our spritzers, and let the magic begin.  Here are some of the results from my efforts.

1.  Berry Burst project:
Here is the lace overlay that I spritzed.
Here is the Whisper White CS that was under the lace when I spritzed it with Berry Burst.  It's so pretty!
2.  Here is the Whisper White CS that I placed under another lace overlay.
I'll share what I did with the lace piece in another post.  It's pretty amazing, if I say so myself.
This is a color story using 2 colors --- Coastal Cabana and Granny Apple Green.  I love how it turned out and can't wait to share the project I made with the lace.  Keep checking back so you don't miss it.

3.  Coastal Cabana project:
Here is the Whisper White CS that was under it when I spritzed it.
4.  Granny Apple Green project:
I love how this one turned out, too.  I intentionally left the color a little more uneven, to give more interest.
Now ... I have a lot of cutting apart of all these sheets to do.  Check back for some future posts to see what I make with all the pieces.

Meet Sweet Sugarplum ... Wrapping Up All 5 New Colors

It's no secret that I've never been a big lover of anything plum, but this shade is really, really, really pretty.  Really.  It's soft and luscious and works great with a lot of our other colors.
So now you can see why I'm having such a difficult time choosing my favorite.  Just when I think I've decided, the next day I change my mind.
By the way, the embossing shows up much better in real life.  The light just didn't hit it right.  Maybe I need a different time of day to do my photo shoot ... or maybe... I need a new photographer:)
Okay, time's up!  It's time for you to decide...
Which is your favorite new In Color?????
I will make my decision by June 26 for my Catalog Party/Open House.  Anyone who guesses which color I chose as my new favorite, will win a prize... to be announced the day after the party.

There will also be a prize for anyone who correctly guesses which new stamp set I chose as my favorite for this year.  The better you know the catalog, the more likely you are to guess correctly and win the prizes.  If you don't have a new catalog yet, contact me to stop by and pick one up.  I have one waiting for you!  If you don't have it by the party date, you can get one when you come to the party.

Meet Emerald Envy

If you're looking for a truly vivid and rather intense green, look no further than Emerald Envy.
If you know me well, you probably know that I'm not a big fan of some shades of green, especially when you get into this new color.  HOWEVER, after working with it a while, it kind of won me over.  It's pretty nice!  I was amazed at how it changes as you pair it with other colors, too.  You'll see more on that in future posts.
So... I think I'm in love with this color, too.
There's only one new color remaining for me to share with you.  Come on back to see it and see what's next.

Meet Dapper Denim

Next, let's look at a truly gorgeous and intense shade of blue ... Dapper Denim.  I love this one, too.
Remember, same card design as in my previous post.
Isn't this just gorgeous?

Meet Flirty Flamingo

In my 'Meet the New In Colors' post, I shared a card with you that had a peek at all 5 of our newest In Colors.  I'd like continue introducing all the colors and helping you get to know each of them a little better.  First of all, here are all 5 of the new colors using the same basic card design for each.
I've changed the embossed backgrounds and the colors, but kept the same design.  The stamping is all done with VersaMark and then heat embossed with Gold EP.  I then colored in each flower (including leaves and stem) with Gold Wink of Stella.  I've mostly shown you the Wink of Stella in Clear, so here's a new version.
You will love Flirty Flamingo.  This is an absolutely gorgeous color.  It seems so fresh and vibrant.
I added a 'sprig' of ribbon to each of my cards to show off our new Ruched Ribbon that comes in each of the new In Colors.  It is a joy to work with this ribbon and it is just plain gorgeous!
Come on back to get better acquainted with our next new In Color.

Playing With Watercolors, Part 1

A while back I had some time and was playing around with watercolors.  Then, when I got sick, I couldn't finish them for a long time.  When I needed to catch up on birthday cards for our church to send out, I grabbed these backgrounds and went to town creating several designs of completed cards.
Adding a few black speckles and then a mat of black behind the top layer really pulled the card together.  I love how it turned out.
I made quite a few of these cards, so I was so glad that I had made a bunch of backgrounds on the day that the playing all started.
I made some of the cards with blue or green card bases and others with white (thick CS) bases.  Which one do you like the best?  I have one more post coming up for you (a totally different color story with watercoloring) and then I'll start sharing some of my cards with our upcoming new In Colors.  Yay!  I can't wait.  Be sure to come back to see them!

A Great Party!

What a great Winter Open House Party we had yesterday afternoon!  I tried to take photos to post, but there were so many people stamping together that I never got a good angle for a shot.  Trust me, I had a full house, a wonderful, wonderful group and the party actually went until 6:00.

I wanted to share my cute little money bags with you today.  I started a new 'program' where you can earn Stampin' Tokens, 1 per each $50. or more order, and when you collect 10, you get to choose a free stamp set.  I couldn't just let people collect their tokens without giving them a money bag in which to keep them, so I used our cute little Mini Muslin bags to create a money bag for each person.  Here they are:
Each person who earned a 'money bag' got to choose what color they'd like.  My choices were Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe and Coastal Cabana.  Here are the tokens:
Super news:
Every time you come for an event, you get to enter your name into my monthly drawing jar.  If you bring a 'Show and Tell' to share with everyone, you get to enter your name 2 times and every time you place an order, you get to enter your name 3 times.
Please note:
I leave it up to you to enter your name whenever you attend and event.  However, I want you to know that, any time you place an order through email or online through my website, I keep track of it all and save up any tokens you may earn to give you, as well as placing your entries into the monthly drawing jar.  You won't miss out!
Pssst:
It's getting close to the end of the month.  That means that very soon Toby Joe will help me choose a winner for this month.

Shimmer Painting Tutorial

Get ready for a super fun tutorial today.  I am in love with this technique!
We made the Calypso Coral version at my workshop last week.
I made 2 versions of each card --- horizontal and vertical.
Aren't the flowers gorgeous?
Here's how you do it:
  • Stamp your flowers (Secret Garden stamp set) with VersaMark ink.
  • Heat emboss with white embossing powder.
  • Gather some old containers from brads, buttons or embossing powders.
  • Mix reinker (in the color of your choice) with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (a few drops).
  • Using an Aqua Painter,  stir it up and paint on the mixture of reinker/shimmer paint.  The embossing helps to keep the reinker inside the line, making it super easy to paint them.
  • Let the ink/paint mixture dry.
  • Cut out the flowers using our framelits, for a quick and easy way to have perfect cuts every time.
  • Now create your card, using your beautiful flowers.
NOTE:
Be sure to really clean your Aqua Painter, to get out all the Shimmer Paint.

I used Wisteria Wonder on my first card --- reinker AND card stock.
I used Calypso Coral and Regal Rose reinkers on the coral cards, with Calypso Coral card stock.

I used Daffodil Delight reinker for all the flower centers.
I tried really hard to get a close-up of the flowers so you could see how much they actually shimmer.  In real life, they are gorgeous.

So, what do you think?  Can you think of any other stamped images that would look pretty using my Shimmer Painting technique?  Let me hear from you!  Now, go try this!!!  You'll love it.
