A Pretty Fall Butterfly

You've probably noticed many blog posts back just how much I love nature type cards ... leaves, trees, birds, butterflies, dragonflies ... and you're so right.  They speak to me.  Today, I'm sharing a card I made that was inspired by a previous card I made.  I just changed my color story.

Well, this is my last Fall card to share with you (for 2016).  Next up, I have 3 Fall layouts to share ... and then it's on to Christmas.  Isn't this fun?!!!
Here's my previous card that was my inspiration for this one.
PLEASE NOTE:
If you have a coupon from Toby Joe for $10. off an upcoming class, you may use it for $10. off the card kits shown below.  Be sure whenever you use a coupon that you have it with you.  I need these for tax records.

It's a Butterfly Kind of Day

I have more butterflies for you today.  I love this card.  It is even prettier in real life.
I played around with several ways to add color to the butterflies and ended up liking the one best where I sponged the color onto the embossed piece of CS and then spritzed it with my shimmer mist.
The card is coordinated inside and out, including a matching envelope.
The color story is Island Indigo, a tiny touch of Old Olive, and Crushed Curry, even though I used a Mint Macaron ribbon.  Be sure to check all the possibilities for using your ribbons.  They can match more colors than you realize.  The tiny. layered butterflies add the perfect finishing touch.
Don't forget these upcoming events:

Three Days of Peach, Day One

Here we go again, with a little series of one of our new In Colors ... this time, Peekaboo Peach.  Today's card has a nice little sparkle to it, too.
I have embossing inside and out and on the coordinating envelope, as well as some sponging.
Sponging over the raised embossing really brings out the beautiful pattern.
I think that Flirty Flamingo and Peekaboo Peach make an interesting color story.
Be sure to come back to check out my next two days of peach!

Meet Dapper Denim

Next, let's look at a truly gorgeous and intense shade of blue ... Dapper Denim.  I love this one, too.
Remember, same card design as in my previous post.
Isn't this just gorgeous?
Come on back to see what color I share next.

Remarkable Melon Mambo

Let's have some Melon Mambo today for a bright and cheery card.  The black accents add just the perfect touch for a gorgeous card.  I've spritzed the embossed layer for some added shimmer.
The 'speckles' are from a Gorgeous Grunge stamp.  Like I said before, I just don't put this stamp set away.  The satin ribbon is tucked under the focal piece and wrapped around the embossed layer.
The flower is painted with my Aqua Painter.  I love this card and I'm not really a pink person.  I do allow Melon Mambo to hang around:)

Framed Butterflies

Sometimes, when I'm working on a bunch of projects (kind of all at the same time), I end up with extra pieces... often, on purpose, so I can grab them later for a quick project idea.  That happened a lot when I was cutting butterflies, because they're so beautiful.  I ended up with 2 extra, in different sizes, and decided to use them in a pretty frame.
The butterflies are only attached at their body sections, so their wings float free.  I used my Champagne Shimmer Spritz on the black background in the frame.  I embossed it first, with our new Fluttering embossing folder.
The wings have a combination of blues, greens, and coppers on them, using a metallic rub-on type of paste.

Butterflies in Blues

How about some beautiful blues ... with butterflies ... for today's post?  I have 3 shades of blue in my color story ... Pool Party ... Bermuda Bay ... and Island Indigo.  The narrow strip is a leftover piece from some previous watercolor projects, to give some texture, along with shades of blue-green.  I also added 2 of our new metal rimmed pearls.  I love these.  They come in 3 sizes and are adhesive backed, for easy use on your projects.
I used one of our brand new embossing folders, Fluttering, for the top layer of my card.  This is a beautiful embossing folder that is a new 6 X 6" size!  I know I'll be using this one a lot.  Because of the embossed layer, I decided that I'd use some scraps of an old silver stretch cord (retired SU) for the antennae on my butterfly, instead of stamping them.  You could easily stamp them instead.  I just wanted a bit more texture.
I'm pretty happy with my card and think the blues make me happy rather than feeling blue, on this one.
So that's my card for today.  Now, it's off to putting my studio back into order (after my party yesterday) and getting on to some new projects.  I have a new frame just begging for some Calla Lilies.

I think I met my goal yesterday ... big time ... of wanting to have the best party yet.  It pays off to work 6 weeks straight, all day long (and portions of the nights) to pull this off.  The best part ever was seeing 2 returning customers that I hadn't seen for a long, long time.  They are super nice ladies and I'd really missed them.  Sometimes, life gets in the way for us and I'm so glad that they're at a place to be able to come back and get into some stamping again.  We all had a super time.
