Butterfly Birthday Card

This card uses the same technique as the card in my previous post.  I just switched out the dies I used and switched out the color I used.  We made this one at my creative stenciling class.  Super easy and super fun!
In my previous post, I die cut my dragonfly from vellum, colored the back, and then heat set it.  I did the same with the two butterflies in this card.

A Pretty Fall Butterfly

You've probably noticed many blog posts back just how much I love nature type cards ... leaves, trees, birds, butterflies, dragonflies ... and you're so right.  They speak to me.  Today, I'm sharing a card I made that was inspired by a previous card I made.  I just changed my color story.

Well, this is my last Fall card to share with you (for 2016).  Next up, I have 3 Fall layouts to share ... and then it's on to Christmas.  Isn't this fun?!!!
Here's my previous card that was my inspiration for this one.
PLEASE NOTE:
If you have a coupon from Toby Joe for $10. off an upcoming class, you may use it for $10. off the card kits shown below.  Be sure whenever you use a coupon that you have it with you.  I need these for tax records.

The World's Most Beautiful Butterfly

In honor of World Card Making Day, I'm sharing one of my most favorite cards ever.  I think it's the world's most beautiful butterfly.
I cut the heart (Bloomin' Hearts Thinlits Dies) from watercolor paper, sponged it with Fall colors, spritzed with water to activate the colors, and then placed the butterfly die over it and cut again.  I attached it to a copper foil butterfly and then spritzed them both ... a lot:)
Click here to see a tutorial on creating this type of butterfly.
I just love this butterfly!  The background on the card base is sponged and then spritzed with shimmer mist.  The circle (watercolor paper) behind the butterfly does not have shimmer on it, so it acts as a bridge between the shimmer background and the shimmery butterfly.  This creates more interest and texture than if you'd added shimmer to everything.
This is truly one of my favorites!
Don't forget these upcoming events:
October 1 is World Card Making Day.

Black and Gold and A Little Tutorial

I have some great creative inspiration for you today, so let's start off our week by bumping up our creativity level ... not to mention the FUN.  I have 2 cards in black and gold and a little tutorial to help you get started.

A Little Tutorial:
- Cut heart from Bloomin' Heart Thinlits.
- Use Big Shot Die Brush to clean out the little pieces.
- Using large butterfly die from the Bold Butterfly Framelits, carefully lay it over the heart.
- Cut out the butterfly.
- Cut one plain butterfly to place behind the cut-work butterfly, to stabilize it.
- Attach it to your project and enjoy!
Tips:
- Be creative with your use of materials for your heart butterfly.
- I'll have some future posts giving you more ideas on using the heart and the butterfly.

Time Out for Timeless Elegance, Card 2

I have another card for you today, using our gorgeous Timeless Elegance DSP.  This one features some wonderful touches of gold.
I kept the design very simple, to let the elements just shine on their own.
When you add the gold touches to an already simple but elegant card, it just bumps it up that much more.
Once again, I have a card that could be used for many different occasions.  My stash is getting filled out very nicely!

Pink and Black Butterfly Card

Today's card is brought to you by the beautiful color combo of Pink Pirouette and Basic Black.  Let's get right to it.
The dahlia makes a pretty background for the butterflies.  This card could work for a lot of other occasions just by changing out the sentiment.  The black layer really brings it all together.
I'm really not much of a pink person, but I do like this card.  Sometimes, I just make myself work with colors that have sat too long and gotten lonely.  I wonder what color gets to play next?

Vintage Taupe Card

I think it's time for a little more vintage today... this time in taupe.  I've added a layer of filter paper over my DSP and embossed it with one of my favorite embossing folders.  I added pearls to my butterfly and then added a couple of Metallic Rimmed Pearls to my embossed strip of CS.
The butterfly is double, for added interest and texture.  My color story is Tip Top Taupe and black, along with the soft white of the filter paper.  It makes for a nice color combo.
I've been making a lot of cards lately with no designated text, so I can grab them and adapt them to the occasion for which I need a card.  This one would work for most any occasion.
Are you looking forward to our new Holiday Catalog?  It will be here soon and you're going to love it!

For the Love of Monarch Butterflies

Who doesn't love seeing a beautiful butterfly, especially Monarchs?  They are just gorgeous.  I have a couple of Monarchs for you today.  It was easy to choose my color story, as it's based on the color of the beautiful Monarchs.
I actually used several stamp sets for this card --- You've Got This, Birthday Blossoms, and Watercolor Wings.  It all comes together for a really pretty card.  Our Thinlits and Framelits make for quick and easy cutting of the butterflies.  I love how the 2 die sets coordinate.
Here's a bit of a close-up of the butterflies.
Here's a sneak peek at the coordinating inside of the card.
As with my previous butterfly projects, I've only attached the butterflies in the middle, so their wings are more dimensional.
Have you stamped lately?  You'd better get going and create something beautiful today.
