Vintage Taupe Card

I think it's time for a little more vintage today... this time in taupe.  I've added a layer of filter paper over my DSP and embossed it with one of my favorite embossing folders.  I added pearls to my butterfly and then added a couple of Metallic Rimmed Pearls to my embossed strip of CS.
The butterfly is double, for added interest and texture.  My color story is Tip Top Taupe and black, along with the soft white of the filter paper.  It makes for a nice color combo.
I've been making a lot of cards lately with no designated text, so I can grab them and adapt them to the occasion for which I need a card.  This one would work for most any occasion.

Purple Hydrangea Beauty

Today, I'm sharing one of my absolute favorite cards that I've made lately.  It features a gorgeous hydrangea... in purple!
Isn't this gorgeous?  The Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder make a perfect color combo.  I even used Wisteria Wonder for the inside of the card.

Melon Mambo and Taupe Card

How about another card with our You've Got This stamp set?  This one is a Melon Mambo/Taupe combo.  It is dressed up with our Metallic Rimmed Pearls.
I've cut the top layers smaller, so that more of the card base shows, creating a nice frame for the project.  The flower is stamped and embossed onto the white layer and then another blossom is cut and attached (with dimensionals) over the first layer.
I've cut the melon mambo layer to just barely show between the taupe layers.  All 3 of the top layers are attached together and then attached to the card base with dimensionals.
The coloring was done with my Aqua Painter and inks.  The envelope is stamped with a Melon Mambo flower to coordinate.

Best Thoughts in Gorgeous Yellows

Who doesn't like a bright and cheerful card, especially in gorgeous yellows?!  Today's card is brought to you by Best Thoughts, one of my absolute favorite stamp sets.
I've used shades of yellow and a nice touch of green.  The Metallic Rimmed Pearl makes the perfect accent.

Vintage Wisteria Wonder Blossoms Card

It's time to share the last card from my Vintage Cards class.  I love the soft purples of this one.  I have double layers of flowers and double layers of leaves.  I've stamped the inside of the card and a coordinating envelope.  My color story is Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White.
I've embossed the flowers on the vellum piece.  You can use Classic Inks to emboss on vellum because they stay wet longer.
The vellum is attached under the seam binding and the leaves and flowers, to hide the adhesive.
Here's another look at all the cards from the class.
If you live in the area and would like to join us for a cards class, my next one is on Saturday, August 15.  I'm calling it 'Great Cards' because that's what we'll be making... no special theme... just some great cards.  I hope you can join us.  I'll have some sneak peeks soon!

Vintage Best Thoughts

Here's another one of the cards we'll be making at my class this Saturday.  I realized a while back that I was calling my favorite new stamp set by the wrong name!  I was calling it 'The Best is Yet to Come' --- which is one of the stamps in the set --- when the name is actually Best Thoughts.  Today, I have a vintage version of Best Thoughts.
I colored in the image using my Aqua Painter.  Doesn't the vellum look pretty embossed?
Adding the white accents with my Signo Gel Pen just makes a world of difference in the flower.
This one is a slightly modern twist to a vintage look.  I do like the results.
I have one remaining opening for my Saturday class.  Pay to register ASAP and the spot is yours!

In my next two posts, I'll be sharing a couple of framed projects.  Be sure to come back to see them.

You've Got This ... Sponged and Embossed

You can add some simple sponging and embossing to a card and bump it up to a level of really WOW.  That's all it took for today's card.  With the help of a new stamp set and a new embossing folder, I was inspired and ready to rock out another fun card.

I hope you like this one as much as I do.
                                   Now, go stamp something!

Butterflies in Blues

How about some beautiful blues ... with butterflies ... for today's post?  I have 3 shades of blue in my color story ... Pool Party ... Bermuda Bay ... and Island Indigo.  The narrow strip is a leftover piece from some previous watercolor projects, to give some texture, along with shades of blue-green.  I also added 2 of our new metal rimmed pearls.  I love these.  They come in 3 sizes and are adhesive backed, for easy use on your projects.
I used one of our brand new embossing folders, Fluttering, for the top layer of my card.  This is a beautiful embossing folder that is a new 6 X 6" size!  I know I'll be using this one a lot.  Because of the embossed layer, I decided that I'd use some scraps of an old silver stretch cord (retired SU) for the antennae on my butterfly, instead of stamping them.  You could easily stamp them instead.  I just wanted a bit more texture.
I'm pretty happy with my card and think the blues make me happy rather than feeling blue, on this one.
So that's my card for today.  Now, it's off to putting my studio back into order (after my party yesterday) and getting on to some new projects.  I have a new frame just begging for some Calla Lilies.

I think I met my goal yesterday ... big time ... of wanting to have the best party yet.  It pays off to work 6 weeks straight, all day long (and portions of the nights) to pull this off.  The best part ever was seeing 2 returning customers that I hadn't seen for a long, long time.  They are super nice ladies and I'd really missed them.  Sometimes, life gets in the way for us and I'm so glad that they're at a place to be able to come back and get into some stamping again.  We all had a super time.
