Five Days of Dapper Denim, Day Three

Here's a favorite of mine, using Dapper Denim and a simple embossing technique.  I've sponged over the embossing --- gently --- with White Craft Ink, to make the beautiful design really stand out.
Adding some of our gorgeous ribbon always gives a nice touch.  I've chosen to treat the dimensions of the top layers a little differently for this card.  I really like the look.
The greeting nestles perfectly between the two sections of the embossing.  Add a little rhinestone bling and call it finished.  I really like how this one turned out.

Flirty Flamingo Week, Day Five

Let's wrap up our little Flirty Flamingo week with a beautiful color story ... Flirty Flamingo and Watermelon Wonder.  These two color go together like PB and J.  This card is probably my favorite from the entire week.
The leaves and stems are Cucumber Crush and the flower on the right is Peekaboo Peach.  This card was inspired by the one in our new catalog on page 13, which features this Birthday Blossoms stamp set.
It's about impossible to see it in the photo, but I added a bit of Wink of Stella to the centers of the flowers.
Be sure to come back for my next post.  I have 5 of the cutest little projects you've ever seen.  Well... maybe... but they're super cute.  See you there!

Flirty Flamingo Week, Day Three

Today's Flirty Flamingo card has a beautiful combination when our starring color is paired with gold.  Take a look.
Do you like how I nestled the text in the center of the embossed layer?  It works perfectly.
The gold foil sheet layer beneath the two layers of Flirty Flamingo just gives a softer and more elegant look to it all.  I tied my sprig of ribbon around the top of the paper clip.
Day Four is up next with another Flirty Flamingo combo.  Be sure to check it out.

A Pocket Card with A Special Gold Secret

I haven't made a pocket card for a while and this one was really fun.  I had just gotten a new paper stack of Neutrals and so that started me on my color story.  I'll show you the card and then explain the gold on it.
Did you figure out how I got the gold on it?  It's heated gold embossing powder!  How did I do it?  You won't believe how easy it is to do this!  I laid down a strip of Sticky Strip, sprinkled on the gold EP and then heat embossed it.  Yes, it was that easy!
Actually, the Sticky Strip just retired (I had some left over.) but I think it would work just as well with our new Tear and Tape Adhesive.  You're just basically holding the EP in place while you heat it.  The tape strip gives it an automatic straight and even line, with perfect edges.
Our new Metallic Gold Thread just pulls it all together and the pearls add a subtle, elegant touch.  After you read my post, go get out some tape and try this.  You'll love it.
By the way, the pocket is just attached with Liquid Tombow on the sides and bottom.  It's super simple.  I hope you like it.
This card was inspired by Pootles (Sam Donald) --- http://pootles.co.uk and, if you check out her blog, you'll fall in love with her beautiful work and soft, melodious voice.  Her forte seems to be in making all shapes and sizes of wonderful boxes, but she makes some pretty nice cards, too... a very talented lady.

Vintage Wisteria Wonder Blossoms Card

It's time to share the last card from my Vintage Cards class.  I love the soft purples of this one.  I have double layers of flowers and double layers of leaves.  I've stamped the inside of the card and a coordinating envelope.  My color story is Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White.
I've embossed the flowers on the vellum piece.  You can use Classic Inks to emboss on vellum because they stay wet longer.
The vellum is attached under the seam binding and the leaves and flowers, to hide the adhesive.
Here's another look at all the cards from the class.
If you live in the area and would like to join us for a cards class, my next one is on Saturday, August 15.  I'm calling it 'Great Cards' because that's what we'll be making... no special theme... just some great cards.  I hope you can join us.  I'll have some sneak peeks soon!

Here's What We Had at My Party

I just realized that I'd never shared the projects and all that I had at my party.  So... today's the day.  We made 2 cards and a cute little box project.  Everyone got several gifts and we all had a lot of fun!
I added my class schedule to the back of the bookmark gifts, for a handy reference.
This card was a real favorite of mine.
These cute little boxes actually came from a kit and they are adorable!
Going antiquing last year and finding this berry picking box worked out perfectly to hold my berry basket gifts for everyone.  I forgot to take a photo before the party, but here are a few boxes that were picked up later in the week after the party.
This berry picking box holds 6 berry baskets.  I have another white one that holds even more.  Fun!
It was a great time and I enjoyed spoiling everyone with special gifts and treats.

If you live in the area and like parties, be sure to add Sunday afternoon, November 1 to your calendars.  I'm having my Christmas Open House early this year!  It will be from 2:00-5:00.  I'm already planning all the fun we'll have at the party.

I have to run now.  I have a full house coming to my class this afternoon.  It will be another fun day of creating.
