Last Ditch Effort Leads to a Great Discovery

Oops!  I meant to share this particular post with you some time ago.  I guess it's better late than never.  My great discovery happened way back in December.  I was trying to finish up some more Christmas cards and became frustrated by how long it was taking me to peel off the adhesive-backed strips of gold foil from our Timeless Tidings card kits.  These kits were beautiful and I really wanted to make some more cards from them but I was running out of time.
At the same time, we had workers running about as we were undergoing our water damage repair and my studio renovations.  This was frustrating and distracting to my creative mode.  I thought the kits would keep me going until I could have some peace and quiet to do my own designing and creating, but I was so frustrated with this adhesive situation.  I kept thinking ... if only there was something you could swipe over the adhesive to collect all the stray pieces.  And that's when my discovery came to be.  I used a lint roller!  Yes, a lint roller.  I was a happy camper!!!
Here are the cards.  Remember this kit?  It was so pretty!
See the pieces that were still stuck in the foil strip.
Check this out!  Roll the lint roller across the back and the stray pieces came away ... almost like magic.  It does not hurt the adhesive either and it still adheres to your card perfectly.
Now, the strip is perfect and ready to go on a beautiful card.
Yes, I collected a lot of these stray pieces.
I hope we get another beautiful kit for next Christmas ... and, if it has any strips like these in the kit, I will have my lint roller ready:)  File this technique away for future use.

Stamparatus and Bag Are Great to Have!

Last night, we had a great class and, as always, I enjoyed it immensely.  What a great group of ladies!  As we made our cards, I taught them how to use the Stamparatus to help make the stamping of the little text pieces super easy.  I also showed them my new bag in which to safely store my Stamparatus and all its accessories.  I just love it and it holds a lot!

Here's the bag for the Stamparatus.
In another post, I'll share how to use the Stamparatus to make your stamping of the little text pieces easier.  Also, I promised my class attendees last night that I'd post a link today for the magnetic card insert that I added to my Stamparatus to make it possible to stamp right in the corner of it.  I got it from StampNStorage.  They are the makers of all my ink pad holders and punch holders, framelits and dies boxes and magnetic cards, not to mention all my Stampin' Blends.  I really love their products.  Here's the link:

Cherry Cobbler Decorated Christmas Tin

As I mentioned in a previous post, I love tins and I loved making the Sincerely Santa Project Kit tags.  It makes so many!  I used a few of them to decorate other Christmas items.  Are you wondering what I have inside?  I have a bunch of Christmas cards I made using our Timeless Tidings Card Kit.  The cards have a lot of Cherry Cobbler in them, so I thought this tin would be perfect.  By the way, the current SU Inventory shows an excess of these tins so, once you read some of my ideas below for using them, you might want to stock up on a few.  They're really nice.
This would make a great Christmas gift for a special someone.  They can enjoy using the cards and then save the tin for next Christmas ... or remove the tag and use the tin year-round.  Another idea:  Keep the tin for yourself and use it for all your lists, address labels, etc. for sending out your Christmas cards each year.  It's a keeper:)
Even more ideas ---
- Use it as gift packaging for odd-sized gifts.
- Fill it with bath spa type gifts.
- Fill it with cookies.  Yum!!!
- Fill it with get-well type gifts for someone recovering from an illness or surgery.
- Use it for storage in your stamping area.
- Use it to organize and store your ready-to-send cards for various occasions.

Send me a comment if you'd like to share your own ideas for using this or other tins.  I'd love to hear from you.

Timeless Tidings: A Gorgeous Card Kit

If you've followed my blog for a long time, you'll notice that I've had to eat my words a bit about not enjoying card kits as much as starting from 'scratch' for my design.  Stampin' Up! now offers some card kits that are cute, fun, and beautiful - depending on the kit.  I've enjoyed making several of them now and the one I'm featuring today is just gorgeous.  It has the most beautiful watercolor images you can imagine.  We'll actually be using the kit for our October project, as well as our December cards in my Scraps and Prayers classes.  Take a look.

Aren't these gorgeous?  If you decide to purchase your own kit, you'll be able to make 20 cards.
