Work of Art Times Three

Today is all about trying the same design in 3 different color stories.  For each of the 3 cards, I used the same basic design template but totally changed the color story.  Doing so really has an impact on your finished project.  Check these out and tell me which version you like the best.
Choice 1:  Hello Honey with Bermuda Bay

Choice 2:  Wisteria Wonder with Pear Pizzazz  (Note the use of 2 strips of our Chevron ribbon behind the white layer.)

Choice 3:  Pool Party, Soft Sky and Melon Mambo
For each card, I stamped the little circle (from Work of Art) with VersaMark ink and embossed it with Iridescent Ice EP.  Then I punched it out with one of our circle punches.  Each circle is attached with dimensionals.

Why I Love to Design

I have a new addiction.  I am hooked on participating in blog challenges!  I find that following a sketch, theme or color challenge can jump start my creative juices and yet give me free reign to enjoy creating --- for the joy of creating and for the joy of sharing with others.  Often, there are no winners; just the fun of trying something new and then getting to share it.

Recently, I came upon the Paper Players Design Team Call -- for 2 new Design Team Members.  I decided to give it a try.

Here's my story:
My name is Lana Horton.  I love to design!  I've loved playing with design and color for as long as I can remember.  When I was a very young girl, I loved designing my own clothes for my paper dolls, rearranging and decorating my room, painting, coloring... you name it.  As I grew, my love of design grew with me.  When I got married, I decided to design my own wedding gown -- using 4 different patterns.  I look back now and marvel that I was able to pull it off, but I did.

When I taught elementary school, we created some sort of project most every day.  We did sketching, stamping, 3-D projects and a lot of water color creations.  The projects were all related to our studies and we all had a ball.  The Children's Choirs at my church that I directed and my students at school performed many plays -- musicals and fairy tales -- and I enjoyed designing all the costumes and scenery for my little ones.
When I retired, I just naturally gravitated to designing, stamping and creating lots of projects.  I love making cards, 3-D projects, and scrapbook pages -- traditional and digital (using My Digital Studio).  It's all fun and it all involves playing with design and color.  I've been a Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator for over 6 years now and have been a design artist for just about forever.

Here are some of my recent favorites:

Cards...
...with coordinating projects...

...framed projects (This is my sweet grandbaby, Olive Jane.)...
...scrapbooking projects...
                    .........traditional pages:

I like creating vintage pages for my family Heritage Album, adding lots of layers and texture.  The layout above was made using photos of my great aunt and uncle and my uncle's brothers.

Notice the embossed panels on the layout below.  This layout was made using photos of my great grandparents.

I like clean and simple pages, where your photos play the starring role.  The pages should tell a story -- family history or special memories.  The layout below tells the story of my grandsons playing in the snow.  Here's a link to some of my other favorite layouts.

...and digital pages, using My Digital Studio:
One of my favorite digital pages is of me with my father.
Here's a link to some of my other favorite digital pages.

I would love to be a part of the design team at Paper Players!  I love to create and I love to share.  It would give me the opportunity to share what I love with others in yet one more way.
