Lovely Lattice with Brusho Card

I have 1 more Brusho card to share with you today.  This one uses an emboss resist technique with a stamp set from our past Sale-A-Bration --- Lovely Lattice.  Enjoy!  And don't forget ... 1 more week until the new catalog goes live!  I already know what I'll order next.
I did an emboss resist on the inside of the card, as well, and I added a bit of Brusho to the envelope to coordinate everything.
We won't have Brusho in the new Annual Catalog but we will have Pigment Sprinkles and they'll come in 6 Stampin' Up! colors --- Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape, Mango Melody and Melon Mambo.  I think these colors are a perfect variety and will be a fabulous opportunity for producing even more creative projects.  I love that they have an inside lid with holes for easy sprinkling onto your project.
If you did not get a copy of the new catalog in the mail from me, I will have some here in my studio later this week that you can stop by and pick one up.
On a personal note ...
We had the privilege of attending the memorial service of a dear friend this weekend.  She raised a family that was the picture of a Norman Rockwell painting / Dick and Jane story book.  What an honor to have known her for so many years.  We lifted our voices in praise to God for letting us share in the life of such a fine Christian woman.  Besides her family, music was such an important part of her life and it was evident in the beautiful singing in which we shared with so many music lovers in attendance.  We were reminded to live our lives to the fullest and be the best example we can be for our family, friends and loved ones.  We'll miss her very much.

Holly Jolly Greetings Card

I have another Christmas card for you today.  This one has some fancy sparkle to it.
My color story is Island Indigo, Pool Party and Whisper White.  I did a simple emboss resist technique with very light sponging over the embossed snowflakes.
Aren't the embellishments, pretty?  They have a gorgeous sparkle to them.

Crushed Curry and Black... a Winning Combo

I love the look of Crushed Curry with Black.  It's just crisp and stunning.  Here's what I did with the combo for this card.
First, I stamped butterflies randomly over the top layer for the card, using VersaMark Ink.  Then, I heat embossed them with black EP.  I heat embossed a few butterflies onto the envelope, as well.
Once the embossed butterflies cooled, I sponged Crushed Curry onto Whisper White CS for the top layer of the card.  I added the same touch to the corner of the envelope.
Then, for an added touch of fun, I spritzed the entire top layer with my Shimmer Mist mixture.  It's always difficult to see it in a photo, but it's beautiful in real life.
I added vellum over a DSP layer for the envelope liner.  I pulled the card together with some taffeta ribbon and then stamped, embossed and cut out 1 more butterfly to attach over the ribbon.
Come on back for my next post and I'll share another Crushed Curry/Basic Black color story.

Coloring Techniques, Part 15

Today is the last entry in my technique journal... at least for now.  The nice thing about a journal like this one is that I made it so that it would be easy peasy to add more pages as I learned more techniques that I wanted to save and use for future projects.
Today's technique is one of my favorites... simply adding color by sponging.  When sponging over a heat embossed image, the embossed area resists the color, thus getting its name emboss resist

Here's the card I made using this technique.
Once again, I've made my card pretty inside and out... with a stamped, coordinating envelope.
I've used several complimentary colors of ink, sponging them on in a circular motion, and then burnishing with a tissue when finished, to remove excess ink.
Please do me the honor of leaving me a comment about how you've liked all the techniques, which is your favorite, which ones you've tried out yourself, and/or any questions you may have.  I hope you've enjoyed all the techniques as much as I have enjoyed creating and sharing them.

Spring really is here and a mini tutorial...

Yes, Spring really is here and I have the allergies to prove it.  Today, I'd like to share a simple technique with you that really makes a wow on your card or project.

It's a form of the Emboss Resist technique.

Mini Tutorial:
  • Stamp image using VersaMark ink.
  • Heat emboss with white EP.
  • Let cool.
  • Create a mask with thin paper with torn edges.  (I used sticky notes.  The sticky part helps to hold them in place on your project.)  I went for a rectangular shape for my background.
  • Lightly sponge over your stamped, embossed image working in a circular motion.  Notice that mine is darker around the image and gets lighter as you work your way out.
  • Add a sentiment, embellishments, and layer onto your card base.
  • Stamp a coordinating image onto your envelope.  (I like to do the lower, left corner on the front and the flap on the back.)
  • That's it!
Tip:
For a really nice, finished look, add a layer of white CS to the inside of the card.  You can add more stamping inside or leave blank, for writing a note.

Notice that I added a little detail to the card by making a series of knots in the ribbon.  The ribbon is wrapped around the black CS layer before attaching that layer to the card.

I hope you'll give this technique a try.  It's really fun and truly does create a wow factor on your card or project.  If you don't want the torn edges effect, you could always use the negative image from a piece of CS cut with a framelit, such as one of our ovals or one of our Apothecary labels, for your background sponging.
