Simple, Elegance ... Another Magnolia Card

Sometimes, you just want to create a simple and yet elegant card.  Magnolias were born to help with that.  Here's today's card.  I made a bunch of them for our church to send to our July birthday people.  Speaking of July birthdays, it's getting dangerously close to my own birthday.  Yikes!  It's a good thing I'll be 22 ... again!  My grandkids don't believe this anymore, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it:)
The stamps from our coordinating Magnolia Blooms stamp set work beautifully for stamping a coordinating envelope.  I used the stamps from our Good Morning Magnolia set to stamp the front and inside of my card.
I love the look of the gold embossing on our Crumb Cake CS.  The subtle touches of pink add such elegance. The birthday greeting is from our Magnolia Blooms set, as well.  I know I'll be using that one a lot.  The font is easy to read and it's a good size.
Simple, yet elegant.  I love it!

More Magnolias ... It's A Good Thing

I'm enjoying working with our new magnolia products (as well as many others:) so much!  Here's another of my latest creations.  Enjoy!
My favorite part of this card is the embossed foil layer.  I used our Subtle TIEF (textured impressions embossing folder) and it created a beautiful texture for my card.
Once the Craft Ink is dry (It takes a while.) you apply touches of color (I used Petal Pink ink.) over it to achieve the look you want for your card.

... and, before you go ... here are 3 versions of magnolia cards.  I love them all!  Of course, you can change the text to say anything you'd like for your cards.

Butterfly Window Card

Let me begin today's post by saying how much fun we all had at my Spring Open House Party last Sunday.  I feel like I have the best people ever coming to my classes and events!  We enjoyed visiting, seeing displays (in my 'new' studio), refreshments, a fun game sheet, and - of course - creating together.  I'll share our 2 card projects in another post.  (You saw the Mini Pizza Box in my last post.)  My next party will be in June, so go ahead and put June 23 on your calendars.

IN MY NEXT POST, I'LL ANNOUNCE THE PARTY WINNERS.  COME BACK AND CHECK IT OUT.

If you could not attend my Spring Open House, here is our Hostess Code.  It will be active through March 19.

Now... on to today's project...

Sometimes you get a design idea in your head and, even though you know this will be an involved process to create, you just have to do it.  Thus, my 'Butterfly Window' card was born.  I love it and it was one of the class favorites at our last Scraps and Prayers class.  We had so much fun!!!
And ... speaking of fun ... the Scraps and Prayers class is almost full already for April.  If you are thinking of signing up for this one (We'll be working with Brusho!!!) please pay to register ASAP so you won't miss out.  I can't wait for this one.  OK, back to the window card ...
Behind the oval window is a gorgeous, soft shimmer of Coastal Cabana.  It's Coastal Cabana reinker mixed with Frost White Shimmer Paint.  You just pour a little bit of the paint onto one of our Silicone Craft Sheets, add 2 or 3 drops of reinker, and mix them together with a toothpick.  It's quick and easy and you can probably get several card projects out of your mixture.  You apply it in a circular motion, using a Sponge Dauber.  I used watercolor paper for this part of the card, to give it just one more touch of texture.
The subtle texture added to the Coastal Cabana layer of the card just adds so much to it.  The TIEF is actually called Subtle.
TIP:
Lightly spritz your card stock with alcohol before embossing it and you'll get an even deeper texture when you run it through the Big Shot.  I just put some rubbing alcohol into a travel sized spray bottle.

We're going to have a blast playing with BRUSHO.  We're going to make several beautiful cards using Brusho ... AND ... I'll show you how you could make your own Swatch Book at home, to highlight some of the many fun ways to use Brusho.

An Elegant Fall Tree

I'm enjoying our beautiful Fall weather.  Although I haven't been able to take a walk, due to my leg injury, I still notice and enjoy the trees as we drive by them.  Many have already lost all their leaves and some are still working on it.  Trees, even bare ones, have an artistic beauty to them that has always fascinated me.  Here's another tree card (with plenty of leaves) that I enjoyed using my new MISTI to create.
Our Lovely As A Tree is our oldest (an perhaps best loved) stamp set!
I added a couple of Vintage Leaves over some gently coiled thread for a nice element to embellish the lower part of the oval frames.
I love how this turned out.  This would be a nice masculine card, but I think anyone would enjoy receiving it in the mail.

Tutorial for Floral Framelits Shape Card

In response to requests about my previously posted card, I have a little tutorial today to help you.  I hope you'll like reading it and then go create one of your own.  Enjoy!  Here's the card:
Here's how you cut the shaped card base.  Start with a folded piece of CS, just like you were going to make a top-fold card.  Hang 2 of the petals partly off the folded edge.  Cut another (single) piece of CS in the same floral shape.  Set this one aside for now.
Here's a close-up so you can better see how to do the folded edge.
Here's how it looks after you've run it through the Big Shot and cut it.
Now, you have a top-fold card in a floral shape.
Here's how it looks when you open it.
You could leave it like this, but I chose to take the single piece of CS that I cut and attach it over the folded card, so I would have complete petals on the entire card front.  I then cut the other layers, stamped and sponged them, and attached them with dimensionals.  I then added an Antique Brad.  I attached these 3 layers to the large card base with more dimensionals.  When we made this card in class, everyone loved it and was surprised at how easy it is to make it.  OK now; your turn to go make one:)

Before you begin working on yours, click here to see all of my previous post for this card again.

A Shape Card with Sponge Daubers

I hadn't made a shape card for a while, so I decided to work on one using our Floral Framelits.  These are some of my favorite dies, because you have a lot of versatility with them and they make wonderful filter paper flowers.  If you follow my blog, you know I've made a lot of those:)  I chose Strawberry Slush for this card.
I used a little stamping and a lot of sponging to give my card added dimension and texture.

For more creative ideas for using sponge daubers, click here.  This one uses a stencil with sponge daubers.  Enjoy!
I also used sponging to create a coordinating envelope.
