We make plans ... God laughs.

So the saying goes.  Well, I don't think that God caused a mysterious leak in our roof, which ended up working its way down to the ceiling above the bar in my studio, but that's what happened.  I am sick about it.  I am working slower than ever because of my health issues and was devastated when I realized that some of the projects I had managed to finish were now marked by water spatters as the ceiling dripped down onto the bar.  I'm not down for the count yet, but a break would be nice.

I am planning to go ahead with my Spring Open House Party and my April classes, as scheduled.  I just may not have as many projects up on display.  I think you'll find that I do still have a lot to share and am going ahead with creating more, at least until repairs begin.  When life gives you lemons ... time to just go ahead and keep creating new artistic wonders:)  For today ...  I'm sharing with you some more ways to use our stamp cases.  Enjoy!
These cases are great for containing small embellishments while still keeping them close at hand.  I had room in the Watercolor Pencils case to add an Aqua Painter.
You can choose what to put on each side of your case when you add a custom divider.
Adding a coordinating strip of DSP to your cover design is easy to do and looks great.  Let the DSP be the star:)

The DSP was so pretty on the case above, that I didn't want to cover it up with a single thing.  It looks like Spring!
Wouldn't a set of note cards in a special case like this one make a great gift?
With all my frustrating health issues, I now have to limit the times I work in my studio to shorter times, with rest and/or therapy exercises sprinkled in with them throughout the day.  I've done a little tweaking and reorganizing some of my cabinets, stamp cases, etc.  I want to always know where to find each item without wasting my work times by having to hunt for something.  I hope today's post will inspire you to tweak your work area a bit, too.

UP NEXT:

Notepad Project

Thanks for all the well wishes, good thoughts and wonderful prayers for my recovery after my recent surgery.  It means a lot to me.  I'm getting a little better each and every day.  And now, let's take a look at today's project.

Here's a fun project you can enjoy making in your own stamping and crafting space.  It's an empty stamp case --- the size we use for our clear mount stamps.  You'll need your favorite sheet of DSP, some ribbon and an RSVP pen, as well as a notepad cut to fit into the case.  Then you can choose how you'd like to decorate the front and add that to your finished project.  What's the best thing about this project?  All the embellishments and/or stamped pieces are inside the protective plastic, so you can carry your notepad with you in your purse or briefcase and it won't get ruined.

Because our DSP is double sided, once you slip the cut piece under the protective plastic on the stamp case, you automatically have decorated the inside of your case, too.
Adding a strip of DSP over the top of the notepad pulls the entire project together.  I don't have a photo of the RSVP Pen in this post, but I will share it in my next post, along with another version of this project ... a deluxe version.  Also, in my next post, I'll have all the dimensions for cutting the DSP pieces for the stamp cases (2 sizes), the pen and the note pad toppers.
 August Classes:
August 14 -- Scraps and Prayers
     5:30-7:30 / $15.00 -- book box with cards project

It's Time to Get Busy on Some Christmas Projects!

Working with my new puppies each day has made the time fly by and I realize that I haven't shared some of my projects with you for our upcoming October 25 Christmas Retreat.  Would you like a sneak peek?
These are the projects and cards that we'll be making.
The 3 projects each use our All is Calm DSP and have something special inside of them.
The cards all feature our Festival of Trees stamp set.  Because all the cards are made with the same stamp set, that gives us more time so that we can make 3 of each one!
In my next post, I'll share more details about the projects and, in later posts, details about each card.

Look what I got!

My daughter surprised me with these!  I love them!!!

Remember this post?  I first introduced you to our fabulous new framelits and edgelits dies.
Well, my daughter didn't want me to store them in plain and undecorated stamp cases, so she designed inserts using My Digital Studio.  When she had them printed, she ordered a set for each of us.  She is a sweetheart.  If you'd like to see more of her work, click here and enjoy a visit to her blog.

The inserts just slip right under the plastic cover of the stamp cases.
Here's how the fronts look:
These are the backs.  For each one, she made a little guide for the recipe for each 'sandwich' for the Big Shot.  Very handy!!!
close-ups:

This is how they look on the inside of each case.  You may be wondering why there are 2 of each edgelit.  After thinking about it, I ordered another set so I could use both on the same card when I need a unique look.  It's quite handy to store them together.  Remember how I hold them in place?  I cut a section of our magnetic sheets and stuck them into the case.  The sheets are adhesive backed, so it's so easy to place them into the cases.
Tip:
I store my edgelits and framelits with the cutting side down.  It makes it easier for me to pick them up without risking bending them.  (I do not have long nails:)
For more ideas for using the edgelits and framelits dies, go to the search box and you should see some other fun projects I've made using them.  They are super easy and so much fun!!!  Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go open my beautiful cases and play with my toys!
