How do YOU like to scrapbook? Putting it all together.

As we come to the end of my series on Styles of Scrapbooking, you've now seen it all.  You now have the tools to take it from here.  You may even want to try a little of each style.  If you do, you'll be able discover which style you like the best.  There's a time and a place for each style and however you do it, scrapbooking will help you relive each happy memory again and again.  It will preserve your memories and help you share them with future generations.

Let's take another look at all 10 popular styles of scrapbooking that I've been highlighting.  I'll share one example for each.  If you would like to see them all again, just keep scrolling backward until you've reviewed them all.

Digital Heritage Scrapbooking
I'm sure I've probably forgotten something else here, but these are the methods I've used... so far.  What do I like the best?  I'm most often a traditional scrapbooker.  I think this is mostly because my generation likes to make albums to preserve and share our family history.  Do I like trying the other methods?  Yes, I do!  I think they all have their place.  I would not place vintage photos in a paper bag album, but I would enjoy making a paper bag album for a gift for someone or to showcase an event.  I LOVE making framed projects... vintage and more modern... but you can't put all your photos up on the wall or on a shelf, nor would you want to do so.  So, again, how do you decide?

Do what works for you.
Do what best preserves and showcases your memories.

Do what works best for what you're trying to preserve or share.  Try them all and you'll know what works best for you.  Do you need to buy supplies to try each and every style and method of scrapbooking?  Absolutely not!  Try different classes, where everything is supplied and prepared for you.  Then, you'll learn how to do each method and you'll know what works best for you.

However you choose to do it, the whole purpose of scrapbooking is to showcase and preserve your memories... to tell your story.  You'll end up with something to treasure for years to come.

These are all wonderfully fun projects and may or may not involve photos.  They all use scrapbooking supplies and can showcase your creative endeavors.  What projects have you tried lately?

Styles of Scrapbooking, Hybrid Projects

This is a great day to post this project because it would have been my daddy's birthday today.  He lived to be 89.  I miss him every day.
So... let's look at another fun style of scrapbooking.  This style involves a little digital action and a little touch of traditional scrapbooking.  It's a great way to add dimension to digital projects and lends itself well to frameable projects.

7.
hybrid scrapbooking
--- This combines digital and traditional scrapbooking.  You design your pages digitally, get them printed, and then add other embellishments as you desire.

Here's the project I made for one of my scrapbook pages I shared with you previously.  It's a tribute to how much I loved my daddy and spending time with him... even if I was rather camera shy.

Styles of Scrapbooking, Going Digital

I have a totally different style of scrapbooking to share with you today... different from any of the styles I've shared so far.  It involves going digital.  I much prefer to get my hands on the materials I use for scrapbooking, most often using traditional styles, but there are times that going digital can be invaluable.

6.
digital scrapbooking
--- using programs such as our MDS (My Digital Studio) to design complete layouts, including photo boxes and completing everything right on your laptop.  Even digital scrapbooking comes with options.
---- You can choose to use an already designed layout and then choose to place your photos yourself or have them popped in randomly.  It's like a digital kit.
---- You can choose to design everything yourself, choosing where to place your photos, what stamps and embellishments to use and what colors and papers you'd like to use on your pages.
--- All digital scrapbooking comes with many options for styles and sizes of layouts... even little swatch books.
--- You can also use a digital kit to design and have printed your very own hardback journal.  These are great for keeping notes, sketches and ideas for all kinds of scrapbooking.
--- You don't have to have the space (and expense) of keeping a 'stash' of materials on hand for your scrapbooking.  All you need is your computer and a digital program.

I'll share more of these projects later.  For now, let's take a look at a series of pages, all made with our My Digital Studio program.

First, a page I made as a tribute to our late friend, Ed, who played the organ at our daughter's wedding.
... a page I made of my dad (and me) when I was about 3 years old...
... a page I made, just for fun, after our Olive Jane's third birthday party...
I must share a series of pages created by my daughter, Jenn.  She does a fabulous job with digital scrapbooking.  Click here to see her blog.

Digital scrapbooking is completely different from traditional scrapbooking but the results can be equally pleasing.  One big advantage is that, once you've completed your pages, you can have your pages and your photos printed all at one time!

Styles of Scrapbooking, Traditional Scrapbooking

Today, we'll continue our series on Styles of Scrapbooking with a second way of doing it.  Without a doubt, this is one of my all-time favorite ways to scrapbook.  I enjoy variety with it all and enjoy trying new styles as well, but I always come back to this style for sharing treasured memories.  In keeping with the season, we'll add some Christmas layouts, as well.

2.
traditional scrapbooking
--- using papers, stamping and embellishments to showcase your photos.  You design your complete layouts, using your choice of papers, colors and embellishments, making it as simple or complex as you desire.  Here are several examples of this style of scrapbooking.  Keep scrolling down and enjoy.

Styles of Scrapbooking, Using Kits

There are many ways to scrapbook and there are new ways coming out, as well.  How do you decide what to do?  I think it's a matter of deciding what you enjoy doing the best and deciding what method you think does the best to showcase and preserve your memories.  Choose the method that you most enjoy doing and your work will be that much more creative.

Let's take a look at some of the most popular types of scrapbooking.  I've come up with 10 different popular types so far, so we'll look at one method of scrapbooking each day.  Many of my photos were taken before I added my photos to the layouts.  You'll see a few here and there that were taken with the photos, so you get to see it both ways.

1.
scrapbooking using kits
--- adding your own touches with it or just using what comes in the kit.  I've used kits to highlight a Christmas memory or to showcase a vacation to a location that is so different from where I live that I may need different embellishments and papers than what I'd typically use... such as going to the beach... I live on the Prairie:)

This first layout is from our kit that was designed specifically for making a Christmas page for 2011.
This Halloween layout is from our kit designed for Halloween treat bags.  I added punched squares with a button on each, a snippet of ribbon and a spider web embossed banner piece.  There is a teeny, tiny bit of stamping on it.
This layout was made using some of our 'Tag A Bag' tag pieces.
This last layout is from various bits and pieces from one of our old Simply Scrappin' kits.
