Glittery Winter Card

I've made no secret of the fact that winter is not my favorite season.  However, there are times when the beauty of nature takes my breath away.  Winter can make snow and frost just sparkle until it dazzles your eyes - in a delightful way.  Here's my card to pay tribute to that beauty.

I stamped trees all along the inside of the card.
In real life, this card is very dazzling ... full of sparkle.

Ink On TIEF Technique

If you're one of my regular customers, you should have received your brand new annual catalog in the mail this week.  Isn't it great!  You can start ordering from it on June 4!  Now, on to today's card project.
In case you don't remember what the 'TIEF' stands for, it's Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I have a really fun technique to share with you today, using a TIEF and ink.  Here it is!
I inked the bumpy side of the TIEF with Lovely Lipstick and ran it through the Big Shot with pink CS and this is the result.  I love it!  It gives a really unique look to the embossed layer of the card.
I hope you'll give this technique a try.  It's really fun and super easy.  When you're finished, just run the TIEF under the faucet and rinse it clean.  Pat it dry with a paper towel and let it finish air drying.
UP NEXT:

June 10 -- Scraps and Prayers / 5:30-7:30 / $18.

Frosted Floral / Glitter Snow Canvas

What an absolutely wonderful class we had last night at our Scraps and Prayers.  That group is such a joy in my life.  My 25 cent sale was a big hit and a big success.  What a fun way to share with others and give your unused items a good home.  Our art canvas project was a huge success, as well and not even too messy.  Everyone did a great job.

Here is another 8 X 8" artist canvas I've worked on lately.  This one was made with some tree dies that I've had for so long, I don't remember where I even got them, but I love them.  Have I mentioned how much I love our Frosted Floral Specialty DSP?  It's soooooo pretty!
I had attached my trees before I decided to add the glitter snow, so I think they threw off my snow placement a bit, but I went ahead with it, just for the experience of creating it.  However, snow does blow into different heights of drifts, so maybe it could really look like this.  You think?  I decided to make my snow really sparkly so, before it dried, I sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds glitter over it.  It sticks instantly and doesn't come off.  Gorgeous!
You can barely see it (intentional) but I have Mint Macaron trees slightly offset and attached behind the white glimmer paper trees, to add more depth and a hint of color.
Now, I'm off to continue with my Holiday Open House Party prep.  There's a storm of creating going on in my studio right now.  I'm not letting our leak disaster slow me down and I refuse to stop creating.  I just can't.  Fun times!

Winter Woods / Snowflake Showcase Canvas

Here's the canvas project we'll be making at our Scraps and Prayers class this week.  This was a really fun one to create.  I used some of my favorite DSP.
I cut the 3rd tree a little shorter, for added interest.  I used Pool Party ink to sponge around the edges of the canvas, to give a little more of a finished look.
I prepped the canvas with Gesso before I started, including the edges, and then applied another top coat over the top of the DSP.  (I used clear Gesso to attach the DSP to the canvas.)  The Gesso helps the ink and the DSP to adhere better to the canvas.

Red And White Simple Joys Card

I love the crisp, fresh look of this Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White card.  It is just striking, especially with this beautiful star.
I like layering white on white for an elegant look.
What a beautiful text, to go with this beautiful star.  This one has to go down as another favorite of the season.

November Christmas Retreat, Cards 4 AND 5

I'm going to make this a Wow Wednesday kind of day and share TWO of the cards we'll be making at my November Christmas Retreat.  They both have lots and lots of sparkle.
This first card has 3 sources of sparkle:  embossed silver images, silver foil, and white glimmer paper.  Wow!  That's a lot of beautiful sparkle.
I had a big surprise the first time I used the framelit in the above photo.  It cuts an image that I thought looked great on the inside of the card.  Isn't this beautiful?
The next card has glimmer and shimmer, as well.
I didn't realize until after I'd designed this card, that we no longer carry the red foil sheets.  I had just enough left in my 'stash' to use for this class.  It's a real wow to see the gleam of the red foil and the glimmer behind it of the red glimmer paper.  Gorgeous!
I hope I've inspired you to start thinking about making Christmas cards ... maybe creating cards with us at my Christmas Retreat or on your own.  Either way, I've shared some good ideas to get you going, so get out your 'stash' and get started!
In my next post, I'll share our sixth card we'll be making.  Come back and see what I have to share with you.

I still have a few openings left for the November Christmas Retreat.  The deadline to sign up is the end of the day tomorrow (Thursday).  It's going to be a lot of fun and you'll go home with 18 cards --- 3 of each design.
If you are unable to attend, kits are available for $30.
