Vellum Butterfly Card

Here's another card today using the beautiful butterfly die again ... this time with vellum.  It works beautifully with the dies.  We just had another fresh snowfall last night, so I'm glad I'm working on Spring cards.  I thought I mentioned that I was ready for Spring ... not more snow:)  Oh well, time to stamp while the puppies sleep.

Today, let's add a few more quick and easy cards to inspire you.
Which do you like better... triangles... or diagonal stripes?

Tomorrow is the first day of Autumn and I have a card just for the occasion.  Be sure to come back and see.  Have a beautiful day.

Quick and Easy, Part 1

Sometimes you need a card in a hurry.  What better way to do it than quick AND easy.

The top layer of each card is a Project Life card.
Look VERY closely and you can see that I've added some scoring for added detail.

Black and White Mustache Card Fun

Here's a quick and easy card I made for fun.  I've used our mustache framelit and a Project Life card.
I also used our Word Bubble framelits, so everything came together quite quickly and easily.
I used Crushed Curry for the card base, to make the black and white really pop.
Come back for my next post.  I have one more mustache/Project Life card to share with you.

Kinda Eclectic Pear Pizzazz

Sometimes, as I'm cleaning up from an old project, I am inspired for a new one.  That's what happened with today's Pear Pizzazz card.
The stamped pieces were actually scraps.  I stamped an additional leaf 'sprig' and cut it out for added detail under the greeting.
You can't go wrong by adding a beautiful ribbon, complete with a beautiful bow.
Come on back for my next post where I'll share another version of this card.  Have a great day!

Project Life Cards From My Tags

In my previous post, I shared some cute tags that I made and asked you to come back to see what I would do with them.  I used some of them for cards!  Take a look:

There are still 2 tags left.  You'd better come back again to see what I do with them.

Cute Tags ... made with Project Life Materials

Today, I have some cute little tags to share with you.  I made them using Project Life materials.  Our Scallop Tag Topper punch makes it quick and easy to turn a 2" strip into a tag!
They started out as Project Life cards (from our Everyday Adventure kit) and then you trim an inch off the long side.  Save the scrap, cut it in half, and you can decorate the lower edge of 2 tags.  Because they're double-sided, you can get a nice variety going.

Here they are before I decorated them.  I used a little piece of ribbon in each one and secured it with a piece of our white Baker's twine.
Come back to see what I do with them next.

Folded Frames and Pistachio Pudding

Today, I'm starting a new series of posts here on my blog.  We'll be playing with DSP (Designer Series Papers), including Vellum and our Core'dinations CS (Card Stock).  I have a lot to share with you, so let's get started.  First up, is a card that features DSP as a beautiful background and yet an integral part of the card.  I've also used DSP to decorate the flap on a coordinating envelope.
Try to picture this card without the DSP layer.  It wouldn't be very exciting, would it?  My goal here was to make the DSP be an important part of the card, without overpowering the focal piece --- the beautiful flower.  Wrapping Baker's Twine around the focal piece is an easy way to add a nice touch of elegance and texture.  I've stamped the flower twice and cut out just parts of it to mount on top of the complete flower.  This gives a wonderful 3-D element to this beautiful flower.

Spring is trying hard to reach our area, but it is having a difficult time so far.  Maybe the soft, beautiful colors of our Sweet Sorbet DSP will give the weather some encouragement.
We'll be making this card, along with cards featured in this series, at my April 7 Monday Night Stampers class.

More Crushed Curry, Please

Let's have some more Crushed Curry today and let's bump it up with a technique to create your own chevron strip with DSP.  Are you ready for some fun?  Let's take a look at the card with this technique and then I'll explain how I did it.

Here's the card:

How I made my chevron strip:
- Use Kaleidoscope DSP.
- Cut a 1/2" strip off the top of the sheet that has diagonal stripes on it.
- Cut a 1/2" strip off the side of the sheet that has diagonal stripes on it.
- Be sure you have stripes going different directions.
- Line up the stripes on the pieces you cut to create your chevron pattern.
- Yes, it's that easy... and fun.
- Because you're making cards, you can get several 'chevrons' from the same sheet of DSP.
- What else could you make with this technique?

Note:
My embossed piece of Crushed Curry is a separate layer, cut 1/4" smaller than the piece below it.  You could emboss the entire top of your card.  More often than not, I make my embossed piece a separate layer, just to add more texture and interest to my card.  No wonder my friends call me the "Queen of Layers."

Want a Dramatic Card? Add Crushed Curry!

Would you like to create a dramatic color story?  Add Crushed Curry to Basic Black.  Now, you've got drama.  This is just a fun card.  It's quick and cute and yet quite ... well... dramatic.  I wouldn't send it to just anyone, but a good friend would be tickled, I think.  Our new On Film framelits dies are certainly fun.  They come with quite a few interesting pieces.  I look forward to trying those, too, on a future project.
Our new Kaleidoscope DSP has Crushed Curry in it, so I used a piece of it to line my envelope.  I don't think I could send a card in a plain envelope anymore.  It just wouldn't feel right.
Before I go, speaking of drama today, check out this little doll baby and her hat.
Isn't that the cutest hat ever... and a mighty good treat... not to mention my gorgeous doll baby.

... and yet more treats!

Yes, I did.  I made more treat holders.  These are just stinkin' cute!  The first treats were made with the Scalloped Tag Topper punch and the box-shaped treat holder has a treat bag inside from our Twisty Treats kit (free Sale-A-Bration item).  I have Hershey Kisses inside my treat boxes, but they would hold a variety of little goodies.
I knew how to make a treat holder, but Julie Davison showed how to make a little box inside it, so the treats are held nicely in place.

I've seen a lot of boxes and treat holders online lately and lots with the word bubbles on them.  I added a word bubble to my tag, as well.  The tag is part of the Twisty Treats kit.
Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the blog world.
Have a great day and come back soon for more design inspiration.

Now, go stamp something beautiful.
