Hugs and Prayers Card / SAB Third Release

With everything going on right now, I thought I'd give everyone a card today - via the internet.  My hideous cold is almost gone but my shoulder has me in constant pain.  I can only work on creative projects for a short time each day, as it really hurts my shoulder.  There's not much more I can do about it right now, so I'm trying to stay brave and patient.
I hope you're staying well and keeping safe.

It's a card! It's a box. It's both!

Today's project is for when you want to give a card ... but more than just a card.  I love it.
You can add a stamped greeting to the inside.  You could even add a piece of CS over the ribbon on the inside and have room to write a little note ... or you could add a little note inside the 'drawer' along with your treat or gift.
There's room in the little 'drawer' for a few treats or a small gift.  I love this little box/card.

A Little Lace ... 2 More Versions

Our new A Little Lace stamp set is a fun one to use for creating cards and projects.  Lately, I've enjoyed using it in my personal journal and added watercoloring for backgrounds.  Today, I have 2 card versions to share with you.  They're very similar, but open differently and show how you can really change the looks of a card by shifting positions of stamps and embellishments.
The larger stamp looks really pretty for a background and for stamping a coordinating envelope.
I just love these fuzzy little flower centers!
My advice:  Get out this stamp set and just start playing with it and see what you can create.

Joyous Noel Fancy Fold Card

Here's a 'fancy fold' card for you today that is easy as pie to make.  Basically, it involves one extra score line.  Easy!
Do you see where the extra score / fold line comes into play?  It basically divides the front of the card in half and then it folds back on itself.  After that, the sky is the limit as to how you finish it out.  Punched pieces and die cut pieces work well here.
Tips for easy die cutting your foil snowflakes:
- Use the Big Shot Platform (along with the adapter plate).
- Place one cutting pad on top of it.  Use your smoothest one.
- Place your snowflake die (cutting side UP) on top of the pad.
- Place your foil piece (copper side down) on top of the die.
- Place your 2nd cutting pad on top of it all.
----- Tip:  If you have a well-worn die, place it on the top, to be cut into.  If it's against the copper side of the foil, it will leave marks on it.
- Run it through the Big Shot and go back and forth a few times.
- Use your die brush to remove any stuck/stubborn pieces.
- Admire your beautiful snowflake.
Tips for attaching die-cut snowflakes to your cards/projects:
- Make a puddle of Liquid Tombow on your Silicone Craft Sheet.
- Dip your sponge into the Liquid Tombow.
- Add Liquid Tombow onto the back of your snowflake using the sponge.
- Attach the snowflake to your card/project.
OR
- Attach a Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet (cut to size) to the back of your Copper Foil Sheet.
- Die cut the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet WITH your snowflake.
- Peel off backing and attach to your card/project.

Festive Farmhouse Pocket Card

I hadn't made a pocket card for a long time and decided that our Festive Farmhouse DSP would lend itself very nicely to one.  It's really simple to make one and you can have a lot of fun designing how you want it to look.
My CS base is just a quarter sheet of CS.  The DSP is cut 1/4" smaller, to allow the base layer to show.  Cut the CS for the inside of the pocket just enough smaller to easily slide in and out.  I decided to add a punched circle to make it easy to hold the top of the card to pull it out.
The DSP is just folded and then held shut with the Baker's Twine.  You can choose however you want to embellish the outside of your card and you can add whatever stamping you'd like to the inside card.  There's actually room that you could slip a gift card in with it.  The entire card is the same size as an A4 card and fits into a regular envelope.
Complete measurements:
1/4 sheet CS base = 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
pocket portion of card = 10 1/2" x 4"  / score @1 1/4, 5 1/4"
inside card for pocket =  4 3/4" x 3 1/2"
                                                    layered over 5" x 3 3/4"
Our contractor is coming today, so we can actually get a plan going for the next phase of our repairs in my studio.  Yay!!!  And ... wait ... is that turkey I smell?  Oh, yum!!!

Playing with Tranquil Tide / Sending Christmas Wishes Card

Here's my second card I made while I was playing with Tranquil Tide.  I would have posted it sooner, but I've been busy packing up all manor of things and cleaning up drywall and who knows what all else, all due to our recent disaster.  There will be a lot of work going on in my studio in the near future, but it won't be creative fun.  We've sprung three mysterious leaks and it has created a MESS.  I can't say more about it because I don't have the words.  I am sick at heart.

I am determined not to cancel any classes or my Holiday Open House, so I've had to be creative about how to do it.  We'll be moving upstairs for a while.  We'll stamp at my dining room table and I'll set up a few little displays here and there.  I think I can make it work.  We think we have two of the leaks figured out but we still have a third one to determine.  Unfortunately, two of the leaks are in two opposite corners of one end of the room and the third one is at the complete opposite end of the room and yes, that's right in my studio area.  So... I'm closing up shop in my studio and taking enough things upstairs to be able to set up a mini studio, so I can still have a place to create.  I'm trying to make the best of it, but it's a real challenge.  My poor body aches from all the packing and extra stairs.

Let's move on to my card and think about something a lot more fun.

Playing with Tranquil Tide / Peace and Joy Fancy Fold Card / Tutorial

When I first 'met' Tranquil Tide, I was ok with it, but not excited like I was with Granny Apple Green.  However, all of our colors take on a life of their own when you pair them with something special.  That's why I love playing with color.

I've said for years that I wasn't really a green lover, but Lemon Lime Twist and Granny Apple Green made me eat my words.  I love them.  I also love Mossy Meadow.  To me, that's the perfect dark green.  Greens like Garden Green and Shaded Spruce take a little more effort on my part to enjoy.  However, pair them with the right color story and they work fine.

The thing about Tranquil Tide that is its saving grace for me is that it has blue undertones.  I love blue - lots of shades of blue.  For this card, however, I paired it with our gorgeous Joyous Noel DSP and didn't need to go looking for a color story.

I did a little playing with Tranquil Tide and made 2 cards - each with a different design - and really like them.  If I'd paired them with a totally different color, I would have had a completely different result.  Again, that's why I love playing with color so much.  It never gets old.  I'll share one of my cards today and one in my next post.  Here's my Fancy Fold card.
This Fancy Fold is sometimes called a Z-fold.  It's a backwards Z to me, so I just call it a Fancy Fold card:)
The basic design is so simple.  You cut and score just as you would to make a regular top-fold A4 card.  Then, you flip it over (makes it easier to fold) and score again to divide the front of your card in half.
So here's what you're doing.
Cut CS to 4 1/4 X 11".
Score at 5 1/2.
Flip over and score at 2 3/4.
Fold card in half and then fold front back.
So easy and fun.
The sky's the limit on how you choose to decorate and embellish your card.
I hope you'll try it.
Another tip:
I placed all 3 of the small stamps for the envelope on the same block and stamped them all at once.  I stamped them on the flap of the envelope back, too.

A Happy Hello Card

I have a pretty 'Happy Hello' card for you today.  It's done with pale blues and some pretty little flower blossoms.  The text is from our Tin of Cards stamp set.
It was inspired by a card I saw on our Stampin' Up! web site.  I hope you look at this site from time to time because it's a good source for inspiration.
I added little rhinestones to the flower blossoms.
The linen thread is just loosely looped and attached to the back of the circles.
This card will be a nice one to have on hand for those times when you need to grab a quick card.

Oh Happy Day! Embossed Stripes

Keeping my knee iced and elevated yesterday helped a lot.  I will be cautious today, but I'm ready to get creative!  Today's card is one we'll be making at my next Friday Night Cards class.  In playing with our new In Colors, I decided to create a card that uses ALL the new In Colors.  I came up with embossed stripes.  I love how all the colors work together.
Once again, I coordinated everything by decorating the envelope and the inside of the card with coordinating papers.  To add the ribbon, I tied one piece of ribbon around the card front.  Then, I tied a short piece of ribbon around the first piece, to add a more elegant look.
Embossing the layer of stripes adds a lot of great texture.  I decided that 1 little rhinestone would add the finishing touch.
