Blessed Layout

I need to take a step away from my Project Life posts today to share a traditional scrapbooking layout with you that we'll be making at my next Scraps and Prayers class.  It has a Fall/Vintage look to it, which I love and you know how much I love this banner look on a page.
I started with a Crumb Cake base, added a layer of DSP and then added distressing and stamping with Soft Suede ink before attaching it.  The DSP is a 10" square.
The banner is made with our burlap ribbon and die cut letters.  I actually sewed the linen thread through the banner, leaving long ends of thread at each end of the banner to tie a bow.

I sewed the 2 vintage buttons onto the top ribbon before attaching it to my page.  You could place 1-3 smaller photos on the left page and perhaps try 1 large photo on the right page.  Photos printed in sepia tones would look gorgeous on pages like these.
If you haven't tried this style of look in scrapbooking yet, I hope you'll give it a try.

What else can you do with the kit?

What else can you do with the Tag a Bag Gift Bags?  Well, you could make a layout, or you could make a mini album, or you could make a gift card holder, or you could make a treat bag...  The possibilities are endless.

Today, I'll share with you my first option --- a scrapbook layout.  This uses the Tag a Bag Gift Bag and Tag a Bag Accessories Kits.

I kept this super simple, to allow plenty of room for whatever direction you'd like to go with it.  You could use the tags for journaling or small photos --- or some of each.  I love how cute the tags look as a banner.  These could also be used for small photos or a title.  I still am thinking how I'll add to mine.  Any suggestions?  Let me know if you come up with some ideas.

I'm off to work on Halloween wreaths.  I am somehow super ready for Fall this year.  I just love the impact of the seasonal change to Fall colors.  I will be making a lot of projects for Fall and Halloween this year.  It's the direction my creative spirit wants to go right now, so I'm off to get at it!

Wrapping up our Album for A Year

Last night, at our Scraps and Prayers class, we added the covers to our album for the year and now our big project is complete.  I designed the pages so they could also stand alone as a complete layout instead of being used for front and back covers, just to give another creative option to everyone.
If you were using these pages for a layout (instead of album covers), you'd simply use the focal pieces at the edges of the pages and save the Soft Suede and Pool Party mats for photo mats.

Our layout involved some paper weaving, similar to projects we've made previously, but this one was more involved.  It has paper weaving strips on 3 sides of each page.
If you'd like to review all the pages we made for our Album for A Year, click here and enjoy.

A Simple Vintage Layout

This is another layout we made at my Scraps and Prayers class.  I hope to add photos to mine very soon.
This layout uses the same basic template as the layout in my previous post.  Instead of squares with stamped images, I stamped directly onto the Crumb Cake CS for this one.  I added a touch of First Edition DSP to part of each page, as well.
This will be a great layout for black and white or sepia toned photos.  I can see adding some crochet lace trim, maybe some pearls as accents...perhaps some vanilla seam binding... hmmmmmm...

Tip:
If you have photos that are too busy with colors or conflicting colors, as far as using them in a color story for your layout, print them out in black and white and they will go with any layout plan that you'd like to use.  If you're doing a vintage layout, sepia toned photos look fabulous!  It's a great solution when the colors in the photo don't work together well.  People don't always plan their outfits together before a photo shoot:)

Primrose Petals Layout

This is one of the layouts we made at my last Scraps and Prayers class.  Our color story uses Primrose Petals and Wild Wasabi.  I really like this fresh color combo.

The Primrose Petals layer is a 10" square.  I stamped in two of the corners on each of these squares for added texture and interest.

The little white squares have flowers stamped in Early Espresso.  I painted them with Raspberry Ripple ink, using the Aqua Painter.  For a lighter flower, you could paint them with Primrose Petals ink.  For an even lighter flower, you could stamp them with Raspberry Ripple or Primrose Petals ink and not color them in at all.

The white squares are adhered to Raspberry Ripple squares with dimensionals.  It's difficult to see, but I stamped a tone-on-tone background onto the Raspberry Ripple squares, as well.

I used the Labels Collection framelits to show off the 'World's Greatest' stamped image.  It also has a Raspberry Ripple mat and is popped up with dimensionals.

All in all, it's a simple but fun layout.  As always, my goal in scrapbooking is to keep the layout simple and let the photos be the stars of the layout.

Pinwheels on Parade Layout

As promised, here is the layout we made at our Scraps and Prayers group.  We used Midnight Muse for the base of the layout and added die cut pieces from the Pinwheels on Parade Simply Scrappin' Kit.  It was so much fun!

The stamped pieces are from the Decorate a Daisy stamp set.
