Sparkles and Color!

In my last post, I mentioned that I would be working all day in my studio for the rest of the week.  Yesterday was very productive.  I completed 28 cards and a framed project!  I'm thrilled!   I'll be sharing it all in my future posts.  I'm very excited to share this card with you today.  In real life, it's just gorgeous, with a wonderful sparkle shimmer.
I created a very coordinated look with the envelope, including a bit of doily on the flap.  It is sandwiched between the CS layer and the actual flap, so there are no raw edges showing.
Look very closely and you can maybe see the beautiful shimmer on the flower.  I spritzed it with a Champagne Shimmer Paint/Alcohol mixture.  After it dried (only takes seconds:) I used my white gel pen to highlight the little delicate stamen ends.
Tip:
I attached the flower to my card with dimensionals.
I masked off the card areas behind the flower and then spritzed.
It's actually easier this way, so you're not handling it after you've spritzed it.
I didn't want any of it to rub off by handling it too much.
I've used all 5 of our new In Colors, so it makes for a very bright and cherry card.  I will save this for a very special thanks when needed.
Banner tip:
I stamped the text onto a scrap of Whisper White.
After it dried, I trimmed it down on my trimmer.
I used the Hexagon Punch to flag the end.
So that's my beautiful card for today.  I have lots more to share, so I'll be seeing you soon!

Tangelo Twist in Two Versions

Today, I have 2 versions of a card for you, featuring one of our 2014-2016 In Colors.  These are made from a pack of pre-cut and pre-scored card bases.  We'll continue until we've worked through all five of the colors.  First up today is Tangelo Twist, with some of our Birthday Bash Specialty DSP.  I made 2 versions of the card ... same design ... different DSP.
Can you tell what 3 punches I've used here?  As always, I've added touches to the envelopes and the insides of the cards to coordinate everything.
Which version do you like the best?
In my next post, I'll share another one of the In Colors.  Be sure to come back to see.

Card #1 for My Christmas Retreat

Here's a closer look at the first card we'll be making at my October 25 Christmas Retreat.
The color story is simple and yet perfect --- Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake, with a touch of Old Olive.   I have always loved the look of the Cherry Cobbler/Crumb Cake color combo.  Using a strip of Washi Tape on the envelope is a quick and easy way to dress it up to coordinate with the card.
Adding the extra layer on Stampin' Dimensionals really sets off the embossing.  This card will be one of my favorites for the season.
Come right back to see another card for my retreat.

Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Pool Party... and Sneak Peek 4

Today, I'm sharing a beautiful color story with you --- Bermuda Bay, Pool Party and a bit of Coastal Cabana.  This makes for a gorgeous and yummy, monochromatic card.  It has a touch of bling, too.  Want to see it?  Here you go!

As always, I've stamped a coordinating envelope.  I've used hexagons in the embossed layer and then stamped and punched hexagons for the focal piece of the card.  The rhinestones add a finishing touch, along with some Bermuda Bay ribbon.

We'll be making this card at my Friday Night Cards class on August 9.  I hope you'll join us.

Thanks and Hello, Friday Night Cards - Sneak Peek 2 and 3

Today, I have 2 cards to share with you, along with a video for you to enjoy.  I hope your weekend is going well.  My first card features Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Whisper White, a very crisp and clean look.  I even used a little scrap of Bermuda Bay Baker's Twine for added texture.  We'll be making this card at my Friday Night Cards class on August 9.

With the help of the Mosaic punch, this card goes together rather quickly.  At the class, I'll show you a quick way to make the 'flag' piece.  I punched 3 of each mosaic design, so I could add some to the inside of the card too.

The second card is one I showed you recently.  It's here to remind you that we'll be making it at my class, too, AND learning my new technique with our new striped embossing folder.

A nice thing about taking a class is that you get to enjoy social time with friends and nourish your creative spirit.  Yes, you can stamp at home and I hope you often do so.  At a class, I have all the footwork done for you --- supplies gathered, designs created, and all materials cut and ready to go.  Also, it gives you the opportunity to use new stamp sets and new products.  Sometimes, it's just nice to sit back and have the initial work done for you.  I hope you'll join us for a Friday Night Cards class soon.  Remember to get a friend to sign up, too, so you can each make the bonus card.

Before I go, here's a little video for you.  Just click below.  Enjoy!

Back to Smoky Slate... A Color Story in 2 Versions... and the End of our New Colors Series

Today, we will wrap up our series on our new colors by going back to Smoky Slate.  When I made my first cards with this new color, I did not yet have my new Color Coach.  I decided, once I got it, that I'd make cards using the suggested color stories from the Color Coach.

In my previous post, I showed you 1 color story on a card with Washi Tape.
The color story:
  • Smoky Slate
  • Daffodil Delight
  • Whisper White
Here is a second color story, which I've used for 2 different cards.
Here is version 1:

The color story:

  • Smoky Slate
  • Soft Sky
  • Calypso Coral

Here is version 2:

The second card has more Calypso Coral and this last one has more Smoky Slate.
Leave a comment and tell me which card you like the best.  Have a great day!
