The New In Colors Meet the Banner Punch

With all the health issues and challenges I have facing me right now, I'm focusing on trying to work in my studio every free minute I have.  Things are beyond my being able to 'fix' them, so I'm leaving it to God and to my skilled and wonderful doctors at the Springfield Orthopedic Clinic.  I'm working on healthy eating and doing the exercises that are ok for me to do ... and stamping and creating and working up a storm.
Early in May, I decided to take down each and every card that I had on display in my studio.  Wow!  At that point, I had around 85 on display.  The next time visitors come to my studio, they will see all new cards.  I love a challenge.  I have a lot of display areas filled already.  In today's post, I'm sharing another card using all of our new In Colors.  I'm still trying to decide which color is my favorite.

I don't think the lighting in these photos really shows off how pretty these colors are in real life.  I had to battle a windy day and too much light in my usual locations for my photo shoots.

Have you decided yet which is your favorite new In Color?

A Vintage Layout with Embossed Flowers

Today, I want to give you a better look at the layout we'll be making for my next Scraps and Prayers class.  I designed this layout to use in my Heritage Album, but I think you could also use it in other settings, as well.  My color story is Early Espresso, Whisper White, and Sahara Sand, with white embossed accents in the punched flowers.
I have a challenge for you:
Change out the flower stamp for a current one.
Change out the entire color story.
Enjoy an entirely new look.
I'll be doing this challenge, too, so I'll share mine with you when I'm finished.
The smaller mats (as well as the triangular pieces) can be used for photos and/or journaling.

Happy Birthday ... 3 Ways

With our country's birthday coming right up, followed by mine the next day, let's look at some birthday cards today.  These are not patriotic, but rather great for male cards.  A lot of people say it's difficult to come up with a good design that works for a male card, so I hope this helps.

Here is version one:
... and Versions 2 and 3 ... almost alike ...
... a close-up of Version 2:
... a close-up of version 3:
... and here are all 3 together:
Which one do you like the best?  Today's a good day to go make some cards.

A Happy Thing Card

I love the cute little bird on this card.  This was made using our A Happy Thing set from our previous SAB goodies.  I also made use of some of our Irresistibly Yours DSP and colored it a happy blue with some simple sponging.
I added a few Gorgeous Grunge speckles and some punched flowers.  I really don't ever put away my Gorgeous Grunge stamp set!
I added a sponged strip of the Irresistibly Yours DSP to the inside of the card and stamped coordinating flowers on the envelope.
If the cute little bird seems 3-dimensional to you, that's because he is.  I cut one out and attached it with dimensionals.  It adds a lot to the card to have the bird really stand out.  Mounting everything on black really has a huge impact.  This card speaks of Spring!

Tangelo Twist in Two Versions

Today, I have 2 versions of a card for you, featuring one of our 2014-2016 In Colors.  These are made from a pack of pre-cut and pre-scored card bases.  We'll continue until we've worked through all five of the colors.  First up today is Tangelo Twist, with some of our Birthday Bash Specialty DSP.  I made 2 versions of the card ... same design ... different DSP.
Can you tell what 3 punches I've used here?  As always, I've added touches to the envelopes and the insides of the cards to coordinate everything.
Which version do you like the best?
In my next post, I'll share another one of the In Colors.  Be sure to come back to see.

A Cherry Cobbler Layout with a Surprise

While we're waiting for the turkey to cook, here's a little Cherry Cobbler layout I made up for some fun.  Be sure to read my entire post to learn about the surprise with this layout.

It's the day before Thanksgiving and heavenly smells will be filling our home soon, as we cook our turkey the day before Thanksgiving.  My Bill usually cooks our turkey on the Weber.  It is amazing.  This year, with it being so cold, we're going to cook it inside, to be sure the heat stays even and the bird gets completely cooked.  It will be wonderful, I'm sure.  Now, for the layout.
I've used our Festival of Trees and Wondrous Wreath stamp sets, our little Banner Punch and some of our gorgeous Cherry Cobbler ribbon.
The papers are from our All is Calm DSP.  It looks nice with the Cherry Cobbler and totally changes the feel of the color story.
The snowflake is from our Snowflake Card Thinlits Dies.
Now, for the surprise.
All the pieces for this layout were leftovers from other projects!
The turkey is now in the oven.  The fun is just around the corner!

Let's Talk Cards, Part 2

Yesterday, I shared with you a sneak peek at one of my upcoming classes, along with a closer look at one of the cards.  Today, let's take a look at another one of the cards from this upcoming class.  This card features a 'sunburst' effect along with paper piecing.  I love the crisp, clean look of the black and white color story.  Let's take a look.

... and another look at yesterday's featured card:

Again, here's a sneak peek at what we'll be making for our (March 14) Friday Night Cards Class.
These cards will include playing with DSP a bit and a lot of water coloring techniques.  I think you'll enjoy them a lot.  The class includes envelopes and all materials to make the cards, except your adhesive.  All the envelopes are dressed up to coordinate with the cards, too.

Kaleidoscope Layout

In my last post, I shared more treat holders that I created, using our Kaleidoscope DSP.  Today, I'll share a layout I created using these bright and colorful designer papers.  I'm glad I finished this 'photo shoot' long before our snowstorm hit.
Right now, my front porch is covered with part of the snow that has blanketed our area.  It was snowing hard enough to blow right up onto the porch.  I may be taking photos indoors for a while.   It's easier to take indoor shots (no wind or weather to fight against) but more difficult for me to get the lighting I want.  This is something I keep working on from time to time, trying to get a good indoor setup for photo shoots of my projects.

Are you wondering where I got some of the rectangular and half-circle pieces?  They are left over from my Celebration Add-On Kit.  It's the one with Bermuda Bay.  The little punched triangles are made using our new Triangle Punch.  I love it!  There are also some very cute and very tiny little punched banner pieces.  These were created using our new Banner Punch, free with qualifying Sale-A-Bration orders!  If it's not a must-have on your wish list, it should be.
I hope you are keeping well and keeping warm.  Our snow is beautiful... but... really... I'm ready for Spring.  I plan to hole up in my studio and spend my day creating.  Have a blessed day and thanks for stopping by my little blogspot.

Have a great day and go stamp something beautiful.
