Happy Halloween!

I must confess that, after being down with that flu bug, I don't have any Halloween cards for this year.  What with babysitting full time now, I chose to move right into my Christmas cards and projects, in order to have enough time for them,  As a paper crafting artist, I feel like I never have enough time to create all the ideas that are swimming in my head.  I did finish 8 cards yesterday and that thrilled me! So, today, I will share some of my Halloween memories with you and a few Paper Pumpkin ideas for Halloween.  Enjoy!
So now, do you feel bad you missed out on some of the great Paper Pumpkin projects, if you sign up now, you can get the November kit.  It's available for ordering through November 10.  A little birdie told me that it will coordinate with our current kit which, by the way, has gorgeous cards that I am working on right now.

Now, for some Halloween memories ...

Memories from my own childhood ...
We made our own costumes.
Cowboys, ghosts and hobos were very popular.
I liked to dress up in my dad's old clothes.
We went to neighborhood houses.
We got home made treats.
We got apples and oranges.
I survived it ... and ... I loved it.
Times have changed a bit.

Memories from teaching ...
Lots of kids showed up with cheap, ugly boxed costumes.
The strings always broke off before you could tie them.
The masks always got dented.
The parents expected you to have plenty of time to put on make-up, attach fangs or false teeth, and add all the fake blood to anyone needing it.
Teachers didn't count how many years until retirement, they counted how many more Halloween parties they'd have to endure.
I did enjoy the years we paraded through the school neighborhood.
The kids were wild and crazy ... but they loved it.

Memories from when my own children were little ...
We carved pumpkins every year.
I made popcorn balls for our 'guests' who came knocking.
I sewed all my kids' costumes.
My favorites were a witch, a cowboy, and Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy.

One year, my daughter asked if she could make the costumes.  She loved creating as much as I do.  What did she make for them both?  They were tubes of toothpaste!!!  They were darling.  It only took paper, crayons, markers and a complete roll of Scotch tape:).
One time, when my dad was visiting, he came out of my daughter's room holding a paper shoe she'd made (just the one) and asked: "Why?"  My answer:  "Because she could."  That one took a complete roll of tape, too:)
That's art ... and that's fun!

Here's a look back at our trip to Black Bart's Pumpkin Patch.

... and his class trip to another Pumpkin Patch with his mama.  Isn't this the cutest shot ever?!!!
So, Happy Halloween everyone.  It will be a chilly and damp one here.  We're taking Joey to our bank today because they're inviting Trick or Treaters.  Then, we're going to carve a pumpkin that we got when we took Joey to Black Bart's Pumpkin Patch a couple of weeks ago.  It should be a fun day.  I'll try to get some pictures.
Then, while he's at school ... He'll have his first school party today at Pre-K:) ... I'm going to be working on our latest Paper Pumpkin cards and our Christmas Countdown Project Kit.  I have projects 'in progress' spread out all over the place.  Happy days are here again!

Christmas Treat Holders

Today, I thought I'd share a variety of ideas with you for creating your own treat holders for Christmas.  Some of these could be adapted to use for gift card holders, as well.  Enjoy!
I love our Gold Mini Pizza Boxes.  These would be great for Valentine's Day, too.  I added Wink of Stella to the bells in the wreath.
The plaid DSP is attached with dimensionals, so you can get a fun look with the tree behind it.  Believe it or not I stamped the tree through the punched opening in the DSP, so I could get the right alignment.
The bow and the text pieces are attached with dimensionals.
If you like these little boxes, how about a stack of them?
I left the ribbon long ... and gorgeous!!!
Ribbons ...
These gorgeous ribbons add so much to the projects.  I've used our beautiful Real Red Ruched ribbon and our Shaded Spruce/Gold ribbon.  You can sometimes get away with mixing the colors a bit and they still work ... such as the Real Red ribbon with the Cherry Cobbler DSP.  It still works.
I love how you can create a dimensional tree with our Pine Tree punch.
The white Mini Pizza Boxes are still available, too.  It's fun to create an entire gift set.  By the way, one Rocher Chocolate fits perfectly in our little Mini Curvy Keepsakes box:)

First Frost Sampler

I realized I never shared all the details of my First Frost Sampler with you.  Let's take a look at it today and then we can get back to Fall and Christmas cards and projects.  Enjoy!
I added Brusho and inks over the embossed 'tile' to add lots of subtle color and texture.
For making 'sprigs' of odds and ends of shapes and colors, just look through your collection of dies and framelits and you'll be sure to find some you can use.
Have you tried making a sampler yet?  It's lots of fun!  It's kind of like making up your own puzzle.
For added inspiration, just look through our catalog or through your stash of stamps and dies ... choose your color story ... and let the fun begin!
This was a really fun project!

Christmastime Is Here Suite ... Coming Soon!!!

I've been MIA for a while now with a flu bug that knocked me flat.  Because of it, I am postponing my Holiday Open House by one week, so it will now be on November 10 --- still from 2:00-5:00.  If you live in the area, I hope to hear a 'YES' RSVP from you soon.  It's going to be a lot of fun.

Now, for some exciting news ...
Here's a suite you won't want to miss.  It is gorgeous!!!
You can purchase all or part of this wonderful suite.  You are going to love it.
There are so many stamps, you get them in 2 boxes!  Aren't these gorgeous.  They are incredibly detailed.

The papers speak for themselves, but you really need to see them in person to appreciate how gorgeous they really are.  They are double sided and one side of each has gold foil details!  I'll tell you a secret ... one of the large images in the first sheet work with the dies:)
This suite will be available on November 1 ... while supplies last.  I guarantee that they will go fast!

Sailing Home Card

This is that crazy time of year when blog posts switch randomly from Christmas ... to Halloween ... to Fall ... to All-Occasion cards and projects ... and back again.  So today, we're going back to an All-Occasion card.  This would be a great masculine card, but I think anyone would love to get it in the mail.
I had some left-over pieces from a Paper Pumpkin kit and added a sand dollar and a sea star to my card, along with the text.
I love mixing 2 designs of the papers, when they lend themselves to work like this.  It adds a lot of interest to the design.
It's difficult to see it in the photo, but the sand dollar and sea star are from glimmer paper ... pretty!  Even a masculine card can enjoy a little sparkle:)
I love how this one turned out and hope it inspires you for some fun card designs.  I may need to use this design for a Christmas card, using some of our pretty Christmas papers ... hmmmmmm ...

Frosted Frames Cards ... 2 Ways

I have 2 versions of a card design for you today.  I truly don't know which one I like the best.  Take a look and see what you think.
Basically, I made the same card twice, leaving out the background paper on the second version.  I really think they're both beautiful.
Using our Silver Foil-edged Cards makes for a fairly quick and easy card.  There's no prep at all for the card base and it's beautiful before you even begin creating.
Isn't the Feels Like Frost DSP gorgeous.  The back of each photo image sheet has silver foil on it.
So ... which version do you like the best?
