Olive's Pretty Journal

Well... a trip to the Orthopedic Clinic in Springfield yesterday confirmed my fears.  I have a torn rotator cuff.  Ugh!  I got a VERY painful shot and we're hoping that will buy me some time, but it doesn't seem to be helping much yet.  I don't have time for this!  I need to create for Fall and Christmas.  I'm trying to keep good thoughts.  We're having a very busy time these days because (the 26th, 27th, and 28th) we're having a big garage sale.  If you're in the area, stop by for some great bargains. 

So... on to today's fun project ... AND ... don't forget that the 27th is the last day to pay to register for my Christmas Cards Retreat.  I have 2 spots left.

The last time Olive Jane was here for a sleepover, she couldn't help but notice all my new journals I'd been making.  Of course, she wanted one, too.  I quickly did a mental inventory of 'my stash' of supplies and knew I had a moleskin journal that would be perfect for her to decorate.  She's such a sweetheart and loves to create with me.  Here's her pretty journal.

We punched a tiny hole at the top of her journal and I tied on the embellishments she chose for it.

Of course, we had to add some of my Shimmer Spritz to it:)

We added a few punched sprigs and hearts at the bottom of her journal and we were finished.

We both love it and she went home a happy camper.

Pressed Petals ... More Journals

Well ... we're trying to get back to normal around here ... or, at least closer to normal.  At this stage of our grief, we're left with a big, empty spot in our hearts.  There's also the overwhelming feeling of being the only one left in the immediate family to settle all the final affairs.   We feel a fatigue that goes to our very bones.
The memorial service was Tuesday and it was just beautiful.  We were so touched by so many friends who came to pay their respects and by family who traveled 8 or more hours to be there.  All of my 4 grandchildren were there and 5 of Ilah's great grandchildren were there ... the youngest being just a few weeks old.
One of the most touching moments to me was seeing a very long row of chairs filled with Ilah's PEO sisters from her chapter.  That was so special to me.  Being a PEO member myself, I know how close the bonds of PEO sisters can be and how much it means in your life. 
We're still receiving beautiful cards ... and gorgeous flowers ... from friends of ours.  I have a ton of thank you notes to make and send. 
It's time to try to focus on something closer to normal, to take our minds off the grief and unbelievable exhaustion.  So ... I have some more journals for you today.  I love these!

Pressed Petals Series, Part 5 ... a Bookmark

We went to Springfield to my orthopedic surgeon yesterday.  I had to have my aching knee checked.  We're postponing surgery for now and trying a few other ideas to calm it down.  If my cold doesn't get better, I'm going to be 'down for the count' with that.  I feel like I'm grinding up my chest when I cough.  Everyone seems to be getting a cold right now.  Ugh!  It really sets off my asthma.  I just want to play with Joey and my furry babies ... and stamp.
I have another Pressed Petals project for you today ... a bookmark.  This was a surprise project I created for my Scraps and Prayers group at our last class, in addition to the journals we decorated.

I added Wink of Stella to the butterflies.

The cardstock is Merry Merlot.

Pressed Petals Series, Part 4 ... Card 11 ... last card ...

Well, I got through the first day of Pre-K for Joey.  Putting him on the bus was a tough one.  At least I waited until the bus rolled away to let out a few sniffles.  He was very excited, but a little apprehensive.  When the bus rolled up after school and I greeted him, he was all smiles and couldn't stop smiling.  I love that his first day went so well.  I loved my after school snuggles, too.

Ready for my last fussy cut card in this series?  Well, maybe there will be more later.  Who knows?  I like this one, too.  We're back to another Rococo Rose card base for this one.  Enjoy!

This has a few fussy cut flowers attached over the wreath design, so it has lots of pretty dimension. 

I did the inside of this one a little differently this time.  I cut one of the square designs from the DSP sheet.  Then, I cut it in half and used both halves inside my card.

I added a special die cut piece for the sentiment on this card and slipped a few extra leaves under the edges of it.  I love how this one turned out.  So ... did you choose a favorite yet?  Don't feel bad that the series is over.  I have lots more to share with you ... I promise:)

Pressed Petals Series, Part 4 ... Card 10

Today is a really tough day for me.  After lunch, I'll be putting Joey on the bus for his first day of Pre-K.  As if that won't be tough enough, he chose today to get out all his little stuffed toys that we used to have in his crib and cuddle and play with them.  He is tugging at my heart!

I must be brave!

So ... on to today's card ... before I have a meltdown.  I love all the Night of Navy on today's card.  This card looks rich and elegant, with a little vintage thrown in with it.

I like how I nestled the 'hello' into the cluster of beautiful flowers.

I cut a lot of extra flowers ... to layer onto the front of my card ... and to use inside my card.

This is certainly one of my favorites.  I have one more left for my series, so be sure to come back and check it out in my next post.

Pressed Petals Series, Part 4 ... Card 9

When I let the furry babies out this morning, it felt like Fall was in the air.  What a beautiful morning!  I love this time of year.  When I finish this series, I have a few projects to share with you (from our Come Sail Away suite) and then I'll be sailing on into Fall cards and projects ... and Christmas cards and projects.  Oh, the fun we'll have!
It's time for my card #9 today.  Whew!  I've made a lot of these fun cards!  Enjoy my card and enjoy your weekend.

This card base is Night of Navy and I have lots of layers of fussy cutting, offset and layered on dimensionals, for a great look.

Once again, I've used scraps for the inside of the card.

Do these flowers look real enough to pick?

I had no intention of trying to fussy cut the little Queen Anne's Lace flowers.  I wanted a beautiful look, but one without stress to get there.  Fussy cutting lots of daisies was fun and easy.  I have a couple more cards left in the series.  Have you chosen a favorite yet?  Come back and see the last two because they're really pretty and I know you'll like them, too.
