Brightly Gleaming Tree Card

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.  We had a house full of smiles and laughter.  My son, who is an Executive Chef, made all the food.  He and his sweetheart spent most of the day in our kitchen and it was like a 5-star restaurant.

Joey stayed for a sleep-over last night, so his mom and dad could get up early to shop for the Christmas Shoppe at our church next week ... the ONLY reason they would ever go out into the turmoil:).  Joey and I woke up early and he climbed into bed with me and we snuggled and talked for almost an hour.  These are the moments we treasure!!!

I already had my studio decorated for Christmas for a while now and put up a tree in the master bedroom last week --- just couldn't wait.  I didn't officially turn on the lights until last night.  A few things have been slipping into my office all this week:)  Today, I'm starting the decorating of the main floor.  Yippeeeee!  I've been waiting for this!!!  I love it!

Before I get back to all my Christmas decorating, I have a pretty Christmas card for you today.  Enjoy!

If you haven't worked with our Brightly Gleaming DSP yet, you really need to get some.  It is soooooo pretty!  It has Copper Foil in the designs on one side of the papers.  Isn't it gorgeous?!
We made this card at my last Scraps and Prayers class.  It was very popular.
The 'banner' greeting is attached with dimensionals.  I love the little copper star!
The circle is attached to the tree with dimensionals, so you get a nice depth to it.  I really like this one!

It's a card! It's a box. It's both!

Today's project is for when you want to give a card ... but more than just a card.  I love it.
You can add a stamped greeting to the inside.  You could even add a piece of CS over the ribbon on the inside and have room to write a little note ... or you could add a little note inside the 'drawer' along with your treat or gift.
There's room in the little 'drawer' for a few treats or a small gift.  I love this little box/card.

Christmastime is Here Reindeer Wreath Card

I have a fun post for you today.  This is one of the cards we made at our November Scraps and Prayers class.  It was a big hit.
The deer is a carry-over from last year and I'm so happy to get to use him again.
I added 2 layers and a stamped greeting for the inside of the card.  It makes the card fancier for Christmas and adds extra stability, since there are so many layers on the card front.  I love how this one turned out.

Sharing Joy Together ... AND ... Big News!

We had so much fun at our Scraps and Prayers class last night.  I love these ladies!  We made several Christmas cards and they really loved them.  I can't wait for our December class when we make even more Christmas cards.  A class is not just about the creativity, which is wonderful in itself.  It's about the fellowship, the sharing, the learning new techniques, the gaining in confidence as we work on our projects together.  People help each other, form close bonds, and we share lots of laughs and fun.  I see so much joy ... and gain so much joy.

And now, Stampin' Up! has some big news for us.

Stampin' Up! is having a big Online Extravaganza -- from November 20 - November 22!  Be sure to check this out.

Christmastime Is Here Decor Project

I have this wonderful frame with 5 sections and I've been using it for a long time now to showcase some of my favorite new products ... DSP, embellishments, dies, stamps, ribbons, etc.  It's a lot of fun to change it out 2 or 3 times a year.  When our Christmastime Is Here Suite came out, I knew it would be perfect for this frame.  Here's what I created.

Feels Like Frost / In the Woods

Today's card I'm sharing is pretty inside and out.  I am really trying to make the insides of my cards this year be very special, with layers and text and a little stamping and/or DSP.  I'm making the outsides super pretty, so why should you open such a card to find it just plain inside?  It's been a lot of fun.  Everything is coordinated, including the envelopes.  Today's card is extra fancy inside, to stand up to a gorgeous outside, of course.  We'll be making this one at my next Scraps and Prayers class - the one we postponed due to the bad weather on Monday.
The texts on the card front and on the inside are from our new Christmas Rose stamps.  Using the Stamparatus is a MUST for getting both texts into the perfect position.  Look at this gorgeous inside! Love it!  If you want to add a message, you can insert a note ... or just write on the inside of the card front.
I cut both trees from our In the Woods dies, using Shimmery White CS.  I attached the smaller, dimensional tree over the larger, flat tree.  I used my paper piercer to lift up the cut 'boughs' and then added a bit of Shimmery Crystal Effects to the edge of each one.  To add even more sparkle, I sprinkled on Dazzling Diamonds glitter while the Crystal Effects was still wet.  The result ... gorgeous!  The trees are attached with dimensionals, to lift them from the background a bit.
The background paper is just perfect for this card.  I love it!

German Bells Tutorial

Here's my tutorial for making German Bells.  They are fun and easy and I really hope you'll give them a try.  Our Feels Like Frost DSP has foil on one side and that seemed to be the easiest of our papers to work with for this project.
NOTE:
I folded all the folds, except for the 'airplane fold' forward and backward, using a bone folder to press every fold.  This really helps to create good creases.
- Begin with a 6" square of DSP.
- Fold in half horizontally and vertically.
- Now, you'll have criss-cross fold lines on your square.
- Fold in half diagonally, from corner to corner - both ways.
- Now, you'll have criss-cross fold lines diagonally, as well.
- Now, make an 'airplane fold' at all four corners.
- This is the shape you'll be creating, once you've done all four corners.
- Coax it into a bell shape.  Once you've done one, you'll have an easier time of knowing which folds to coax up and which to coax down.  Be patient.  It works:)
- I'm holding this one closed, so you can see how it comes together.  You'll need to glue it into place.  Don't forget to add a ribbon so you can hang it up.  I cut a piece of ribbon about 6 or 7" long, looped it and tied a knot in the end.
- Add the ribbon loop right before you glue the last section in place.
- Here's what the bottom looks like.

Now you can use them to decorate for Christmas.  They look cute as a banner or on a Christmas tree.  They would look pretty hanging in a window, too.
