My Secret Love of Boxes / How to Make a Brusho Kit ... and more!

I confess that I have a secret love of boxes --- old, shabby wooden boxes and crates, tiny wooden boxes to use with my decor, cubby units that you can hang on the wall to put cute things in each cubby... the list goes on and on.
I have a couple of favorites -- a wooden rectangular box (with hinged lid) that was my mother's and a bigger wooden box that I have on my desk right now.  I've made it into a sewing kit.  It has a little divided tray that lifts out to reveal a nice space for larger items.  I got it a few years ago when I was out antiquing.  I looked at it in the shop for 3 or 4 times and one day I couldn't stand it any longer, so I scooped it up and brought it home.
Here are a few of my boxes and box projects:
This was a little cheese box.  I don't know why, but I am so taken with little cheese boxes.  And don't get me started on sewing machine drawers:)  I sold this one in my Prairie Treasures booth I used to have downtown.
This is one I also sold in my Prairie Treasures booth.  The flowers are just darling and sooooo easy.  They're just layered circles that have been distressed.  Aren't they darling?
This little box/cabinet is so much fun to use with decor.  My daughter told me I HAD to buy it.  What could I do?
This is the box that's on my desk now (below) and holds my sewing kit.
I also love tins - for sometimes decorating and always for storing good things.  Today's post is about a tin that is big and blue and wonderful.  It's already gorgeous, so you don't have to do any decorating at all.  Just open it and, before you can use it, remove the good things that came inside it --- a punch, a stamp set, an acrylic block, and a couple of Stampin' Spots.  Wow!
Now, you could use these goodies and leave them in the tin or remove them all and use your gorgeous tin for storing special goodies.

Here's the Darling Label Punch Box, along with its contents.  It's on p.209 in our new AC.
I took everything out of mine and put the Stampin! Spots with my other spots, the punch with my other punches, the block with my other blocks and then I dealt with the stamp set.  I put it in one of our thin sized stamp cases and created a cover for it.  Now it was time to set up my box for storage of my special goodies I'd chosen to live in this pretty box.  Let's take a look.
When I'd finished assembling all my Brusho goodies, I knew this would be the perfect new home for them.  I made the mistake of setting it down next to a homeless stack of 6 X 6" DSP , along with a few stamped images waiting for me to color them, and knew that I absolutely had to have another box to house them.  You just can't leave them homeless.  The extra products that came with them can be used at larger classes where it comes in handy to have 2 of something.
Can you believe all I got to fit in my box?  I'll try to list the contents.
My Stampin' Up! Brusho, a ceramic paint holder,  (mine holds dried up Brusho left from a class demonstration.  I can add a bit of water and still use it:)  I also have some pieces waiting to go into my Brusho swatch book, along with the swatch book (on notebook ring), a spray bottle (for when I need more water than with just our spritzer, a tin of map tacks (covers hole in lid, to protect it) some droppers, a spritzer, a straw (for a Brusho technique) and an Aqua Painter.  I hope I named them all.
Here's my tin of DSP and some pieces to color.
So now, I have a Brusho Kit and a DSP Kit.  Love them!!!
Think what else you could do with yours.  Here are some ides I've thought of so far.
- a gift, as is, for a fellow crafter
- fill with cookies
- fill with some card making materials, etc. and you'd have a 'to go' kit for stamping on the go
- place a purchased gift inside
- fill with a few cards you've made, envelopes, and maybe a note or tiny treat, for a gift
