I wanted this collage frame to have a vintage look, to go with the photos and embellishments that I used. I have pins from my father and great grandfather, various buttons, a chipboard heart, and the original key and house numbers from my daddy's home in Iowa. I also used Scrabble tiles (Hunt for these at garage sales.) to spell out 'family.'
The rosette die lends itself to creating beautiful embellishments for projects like this one, as well as the butterflies die. I embossed the wings on my butterfly, to give it a special texture.
If you plan to participate in one of both of these collage frames classes, I'd suggest that you start looking around now for unique embellishments that you'd like to add to your project. Look around your home and scrounge around antique stores. You'll be surprised at what you find and how much fun you have during 'the hunt' for them.
This is a collage frame that I made for my daughter-in-law for Christmas. I had really good subject matter for this one:) Notice how different a look you can get when you totally change the color scheme. I printed all the photos in black and white, so that I could use a color scheme that would go with all of them. This is a good tip to remember for scrapbooking, too.

Hi Lana,
ReplyDeleteI love your nickname, Stampin' Nanna! I also LOVE your collage frames!!! I'm so in awe of you that you already have your whole year of stamping events planned. I scramble every month trying to figure out what I'm going to do at my events!!! I'm going to have to check mapquest to see where you are located, I would love to come to your collage frame classes. (I live in Southern Illinois.)
Peace, Love & Joy,
